Staff were excellent, professional and friendly. Very good recommendations for restaurants and tips for ensuring we enjoyed our stay in Vienna. It is a nicely designed hotel. It felt like we were living in our own apartment in a very cool community. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and we would definitely stay here again.

The Alstadt was very well located in the trendy Spittelberg district, close to restaurants, bars etc. 10 min walk to Volks Theater Subway Station from where all districts were available. Very close to the Museum quarter. Super breakfast buffet. Staff were very helpful in getting tickets to concerts and events. The walk to the subway could be a problem for some older and not so good walkers.

Very friendly and helpful staff, personal touch, nice atmosphere, very good breakfast buffet, good areas for relaxing in front of the fire place, afternoon tea included. The hotel is in an old viennese townhouse, a very special place and has the "little extra".

1) Quietness. 2) Friendly stuff, efficient and stealthy service. 3) Splendid breakfast meals (with a glass of champaign - a special treat that helps to create a special mood). 1) My dream room would have been more spacious. 2) Some pictures and posters of the interior decoration seem extrinsic to the place, and some are even bizarre (to my taste).

We had a warm welcome upon arrival - all staff spoke clear English - and they gave us a tour of the facilities and even gave us a nice Vienesse coffee while our room was being prepared. There are 3-4 salons where you can go sit and chill out. In the main room there was a fireplace, nice decor and music playing where we had tea/coffee and homemade cakes at 4pm. It was so comfortable we came back on Friday night and had a bottle of wine by the fireplace. The breakfast was fantastic. The hotel is a pleasant 4 minute walk to the Ringstrasse and then another 5-10 minute stroll into the central square of Vienna. There are plenty of boutiques around the hotel as well. It was a windy night and the ivy vines outside kept banging against our window and kept us awake. I would recommend that the hotel cut these down so they do not disturb guests in the future. Luckily we had ear plugs.

The staff at Altstadt were amazing - very friendly, provided lots of advice and useful information on visiting the Christmas markets, and nothing was too much bother for them. The rooms were lovely - well designed. Our favourite part was the lounge area with open fire and complimentary coffee/tea and homemade cakes in the late afternoon. After a long cold day walking and seeing the sites this was something we really looked forward to every day. The hotel is relaxing and quiet in a really nice and convenient part of Vienna. We walked everywhere as Vienna is very walkable, and only used public transport for getting to and from the airport. Room had a coffee machine which my husband loved and coffee with this was also complimentary. In all we would definitely return to this hotel and will recommend to all our friends and family. Only thing we didn't like so much was the noise from the people above us (we were in the polka room - 51 - I think) who were very heavy footed and seemed to spend all day walking back and forth. I had to sleep with ear plugs in as I am a light sleeper and couldn't fall asleep with this noise. Also could hear someone coughing quite a bit in the morning. I don't think there is much the hotel can do about this as it's an old building.

The staff at Reception were excellent and attentive and very prompt in their services. The breaskfast room was very comfortable and a good array of choice of food. Senior waiter (male) was excellent and was very good at his job and I like the idea of daily afternoon teas with the home- made cake. I loved the art work through the hotel and that each room was styled individually and the location made it easy to move around Vienna. I was very comfortable in my room and was nice to come back to each afternoon.

Great hotel. The personnel was very helpfull and pro-active. Good choice of food and drinks at breakfast. Clean room and not noisy. Between 3 pm and 5 pm. suggest to have a cup of tea/coffee with some cookies free of charge in a cosy hall with classic music. Though we paid for an ordinary double room, when we arrived we were given Suite Privee for the price of a double room.
