Arthotel Blaue Gans  

Very nice location in the old town of salzburg. The Breakfast was great but limited. The breakfast staff was outstanding and friendly. The housekeepers were also outstanding a friendly always going the extra distance to make you feel comfortable. Word of warning if you are driving and using a GPS for directions. It will give you directions to the walking street not the area behind the hotel where you can unload. I believe another review mentioned this, if I would not have read that, we would have been lost. All in all, outstanding location and all within walking distance. If it wasn't for the skiing, we would have never needed the car. You are paying for the location.

Make sure you ask the staff about the parking, they did not tell us until checkout and be departed the public garage 4 times before they mentioned a discount rate for parking. Very limited parking in front of the hotel to unload baggage. Saw varying courtesies upon checkin, my family checked in just prior to my friends family. The staff was very informative with them, while they merely gave us the room key with no explanation. I had to listen in on his speech to get the lowdown on the hotel.

Location Restaurant/Breakfast

The room was ** Extremely ** hot. When asked reception for help all they could suggest is to open the window, with -5c outside. The room was quite noisy in the late evening hours due to music coming from its bar.

The personnel of hotel was excellent, very nice and helpfull and warm people. Very professional.

I think that the price for the room was a bite on the high side considering the small, very small size of the room. Although I was told that we were lucky because we had a renovated room, I still think it was to small. We felt to tight. I would recommend this hotel, but I would advise them of the size of the rooms.

This hotel is located in the old city, in a walking distance to main attractions. It is on Salzburg's main shopping street.

I prefer a room with darker curtains, to sleep.

The location was nice within the old city and the fortress was a short walk. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

We arrived at the hotel in the late afternoon and the staff said we only had one room...thank God I had the confirmations to prove we had paid/reserved two rooms because without these they were not believing me. It was evident there was a mix-up since the room was not prepared and we had to wait for the extra bed to be made. No apologizies offered by this staff member. I am not sure what would have happened if I did not bring my confirmations with me. This first impression put a dark cloud over the stay

arthohel blue gans is a 650 year old building modernised to todays standards but kept the granduer of years gone by. the location is ideal for sightseeing and shopping, and highly recommended.

it would have been nice if there was tea/coffee maker in the room.

The central Salzburg location is ideal - step out of the door and you're in the shopping centre.

Staff are very pleasant and apologetic, but service is abysmal. Two hour wait for a room we were then told had been available when we arrived, Reception phone unanswered, breakfast food good but uncleared tables, 20-30 minutes to get coffee and generally poor service.
