Bergland Hotel    

We were warmly welcomed and provided a map, information about city attractions, and a restaurant map. The hotel is quiet, not far from the center of the old and new downtown, and a good breakfast is provided.

Good location and very friendly and helpful staff

This family run hotel is located in the quiet residential area with supermarket nearby. Extremely friendly and helpful stuff. Very good breakfast. Only 10 - 15 minutes walk to all sights.The hotel is conveniently connected with the railway station by bus ( line number 2 ). Berglund hotel is excellent value for money. I would recommend it for sightseeing in Salzburg.

I had the most wonderful time at the Bergland - in walking distance from the old town, the room was comfortable, the bathroom was well equipped and very clean, the breakfast was great, the staff were fantastic and very friendly and helpful. Best of all was the music room which had a piano I was able to play every day. (As a pianist, I was really missing my piano at home, so this was a most welcome opportunity)

That it was very clean, and that the room was cute, kind of like a cottage. The staff were great as well as the breakfast. I like to walk so the distance to the old part of town was not a problem for me.

These are a couple of things that need to be fixed in the room I stayed in. You need a hook to hang ones towels. The outside shade seems to be broken and I could not lower it down. Very noisy in the room from people outside. You need to shoot some sound proofing in the walls. That would be my only real complaint.

We liked the very friendly service from the first day we stepped inside the hotel. The room was very artistic decorated. Very good breakfast every morning. We will recommed this hotel to all our friends who travel to Salzburg.

The staff were wonderful & hospitable. Lovely decorated rooms with modern bathroom. A short stroll away from the old city.

Pillows were too soft but we asked for extras & they were very kind to supply them to us.

Very poor internet signal. Room could do with more attentive cleaning - hair in the bathroom and dust on the radiator. Choice at breakfast limited. Parking also limited.

Friendly helpful English speaking owners of a clean, Family run, calm feeling hotel. Good working lift. Excellent buffet breakfast, especially the coffee. A good selection of teas/breads/cheeses/cereals/yoghur- t's. Walking distance to/from the main train station about 15 mins, but I would suggest a taxi if you have more than just an overnight bag. 10 mins to/from the edge of the city. Location in a residential area. I would assume it to be normally quiet, but on my visit, there were roadworks right outside the hotel of my bedroom window. Can't be helped, it's a city and the work has to be done sometime. It did come in handy as a guaranteed alarm clock, as work started at 7am prompt! I can recommend the trip to Munich from Salzburg - 22 Euro's return - purchase a 'Bayern Ticket' from the machine in the main hall of the station, take the first local RE train 9.09am. You can get a timetable from the ticket office in the main hall, buying a ticket here for the same journey is 2 euro's more. The 2 hour trip is worth the scenery alone. Just one underground stop to Karlsplatz from the main station, and you are at the beginning of the pedestrianised shopping area.

This is personal to me and not a negative about the hotel, but the bed I had, had a quality mattress on it, I believe it was a foam/tempur one, and for me, it was a boil-in-the-bag experience, and the duvet was for Arctic region exploration! This was just my own experience in a very nice clean single room. Tea/coffee in the room is always nice but not a negative or a gripe as there wasn't any here. The phone in the room is very expensive to use, 22 euro for 22mins of calls. I have to say that this is my 7th trip to Salzburg over the years and it has changed somewhat. There are now many beggars and 'Big Issue' sellers on the streets and much dog fouling too. The obvious sites are still worth the visit but I would personally not spend more than 2/3 days here.

Room was a little hot

Very nice and quiet location near a great brew-pub. The breakfasts are great and the staff are friendly and helpful. Really liked the alpine-hunting motif in the lobby and room.
