Bergland Hotel  

成田エクスプレスが人身事故により2時間遅延し、飛行機に乗り遅れ、別便で5時間遅れて夜11時過ぎ到着と- いうスケジュールになりました。成田からメールしましたが、乗り継ぎ空港で二回とも返事を見ることができず- ザルツブルク到着。タクシーでホテルに着いたらドアにベルを鳴らすよう貼り紙があり、感謝です。

Our room, # 302, was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It was nicely decorated with a rustic feel. The bathroom was large and had a lot of counter space. The wall mounted shower head had lots of hot water with great pressure, and there was a door on the shower. The hair dryer worked well. Bed was very firm. There were several good restaurants and grocery stores within a 5-10 minute walk. It seems a good deal for the quality in the area.

Shower was small; shampoo/soap combo was extremely poor quality. Sheets and towels were rough. There was no air conditioning (or available fan), so it was very loud at night with the windows open. The tv had only 2 English speaking stations - cnn and bbc. Breakfast was marginal - there was a variety, but everything seemed 2-3 days old, not fresh. The patio and library closes at 9:30pm. The staff was mostly nice, but not at all friendly except for one very pleasant young lady working the front desk when we checked in. The Bergland is about a 10-15 minute walk to the Old Town; not bad, but far enough to make it difficult to swing by for a break.

Everything about the Bergland Hotel was terrific. The staff were friendly and helpful without exception. We got great advice from them on the best places to eat, how to use the transit system, ideas about things to do outside the city, etc. Our room was great, nice size, comfy beds, wonderful bathroom and shower, very clean and well kept. They have a small outdoor terrace on the back side (no view) where you can just relax without having to leave the hotel, and we enjoyed that very much. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is definitely worth the price. It is a bit more of a walk to the center of "Old Salzburg" than we thought it would be, that was not a problem. I recommend it to anyone! It even works for families with small children.

We have absolutely NO complaints about this hotel. The street was a bit busier (noisier) than we expected but the double-pane windows took care of that. I had read a scathing review by another traveler after I booked our three nights at the Bergland, and it worried me before we got there. I was gratified to discover upon arrival that the hotel was terrific, the people who manage it really care about their guests having a good stay, and I can't imagine what kind of person would give the place a negative review, much less a bitter and nasty review. It was terrific! We have traveled all over the world for the past 25 years, visiting more than 30 countries. This hotel ranks with our favorites.

Owners and staff could Not have Done more to make your stay any better. Rooms spacious and luxurious. Free parking Great. Price fantastic. Owners are friendly and have a wealth of knowledge on Salzburg and Austria. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Nothing couldnt recomend highly enough

Location to local tram (s bahn) and main train station (hopbahnhof). Good breakfast in relation to cost of room. Our room was large with large bathroom on front street side (#104) but unsure if all rooms are the same. Staff was excellent. I would request a room on the back side of the hotel to eliminate light traffic noise, particularly in warmer months when windows would be open. No air-con. Must climb six or so stairs to front door of hotel, but elevator inside for rooms.

No wifi in the rooms. It is a bit of a walk into the old town but then again, the price reflects this so fair enough
