SOVEA Hotel – City is located in the center of Linz, a 10-minute walk from the main square and an 8-minute walk from the Danube River and the Lentos Art Museum.
close to all public transport and the main city sites
Surrounded by lush mountains, Linz is on the Danube River, and although known for industry, has become a vibrant cultural hub. It was an important centre of the Holy Roman Empire and Emperor Friedrich III lived in the castle.
The old town centres on Main Square, site of the Christmas market and elaborate Trinity Column. St Martin’s Church is Austria’s oldest, and the largest is the new cathedral, much more elaborate than the old cathedral. On the surrounding streets are shops, restaurants and much of Booking.com’s Linz accommodation, including luxury city centre hotels and cheap guest houses near the train station.
A riverside park contains the Lentos modern art museum, colourfully lit at night. The excellent arts scene also encompasses the Linzer Landestheater, Brucknerhaus concert hall and the Ars Electronica Center which hosts its own festival.
The Design Center Linz event venue is near the industrial powerhouse – the Voestalpine steelworks, whose tour showcases the factory once supervised by Hermann Göring. A more chilling World War II reminder is Mauthausen concentration camp to the south-east.
Across the river are Johannes Kepler University and Pöstlingberg mountain, ascended by a tram that passes the zoo. At the top are a viewing platform, church and the children’s Grotto Railway, and south-west is Linz Blue Danube Airport.

we arrived on Sunday, it was bad for us because nothing was working from the shops, at 2 and 3 in the afternoon there are only a few restaurants where you can eat but really tasty and not so expensive.

Linz is an industrial town but has made a supreme effort to transform into a modern, smart city. It hosts many festivals, including the famous Ars Electronika in September. The tourist information is fine, although check if your festival badge includes free transportation for the duration of your stay. I paid for a Linz card, but I didn't really need it unless you take the Postlingberg tram to the nearby mountain.

I had a beautiful time.
I had a beautiful time. It remains a family favourite destination. In particular, my recently deceased mother loved to visit Linz as a child with her Austrian side of the family. My Hungarian parents met in Australia 65 years ago, were 62 years married, and regularly praised the dog friendly eateries in Linz. My second visit and I share their view. Hope to return. x😇😘+

Great location for a stop over trip when traveling through Austria - lovely old town with good bars and restaurants. Lovely riverside park and walks.
Town Lido is a great place to cool off on a hot day - suitable for all. The complex has 2 kids pools, a 50m lane pool, a diving pool and 50m+ adult pool.

A very nice city, not as busy as Vienna or Salzburg, but we really liked it here. I recommend visiting the cathedral, it is very beautiful. Other main attractions were also interesting, especially seeing the Ars Electronica Center at night. I also recommend taking the tram to Pöstlingberg, there are nice views of the whole city.
As a restaurant, I recommend the typically Austrian Stiegl-Klosterhof. They cook excellently here and we also had a nice chat with the staff.

Linz is an industrial city, but has a beautiful old and cozy center. You won't find mass tourism, but this city on the Danube is quite interesting with some nice locations, such as the Hauptplatz and the riverside promenade. There is a very nice museum, Lentos, with an interesting collection including Schiele and Kokoschka.
The room was spacious, and very clean. Everything looked like brand new, very stylish and modern. The shower interior looked especially good and the flooring in the shower somehow felt really good to stand on (like it was wood). The room was dark enough to sleep comfortably, and the bed was great (both the matress and the linen).
Parking is available in a public parking garage, but it is literally next door so it's really like it was for the hotel, can be accessed very easily and can be paid by card too.
Very comfortable, modernly furnished apartment. The equipment is perfect, we were also treated to sparkling wine and cookies. We successfully resolved a minor misunderstanding regarding the payment of the tourist tax with the help of the extremely kind host Bojana.
Nearby is an inn with typical Austrian home food.
We recommend the accommodation to anyone who wants to see Linz, a very interesting but perhaps overlooked Austrian city.
The location is excellent. Just a few-minute walk to the main square and about 15 minutes from the main railway station. Although the hotel is situated right in the centre, it was very quiet and we didn´t hear any noise from the street. Lovely rich breakfast, very nice and helpful staff. We will definitely choose this place again while staying in Linz. And a little benefit was the view at the spire of Mariendom. :)
The location was excellent. Situated on the Danube, next to a big hotel and near the Lentos Museum and Brucknerhaus concert hall. Walking distance to the center of old town Linz is about 1km. There are supermarkets couple of streets over. The parking availability of the appartment is totaly functional and a must in Linz if you are staying more than day. The appartment is decorated in a 1950's style.
The breakfast was good and similar to many hotels in Austria, with a fair selection of cold cuts and some egg options. The automatic orange squeezer for freshest possible juice is not common and was a nice bonus. The hotel is very centrally located for local bars and nightlife (note that the hotel it self has two popular nightlife place - one on the ground floor and on the roorf).
It was too good. Value for money. The location is in the central and the train just in front of the hotel. Very easy to go and back to Linz main train station. The shopping centre, halal food just nearby. The staff also very friendly and helpful. There is 24 hour cafe in the lobby if u want to have some coffee.
Room - very clean, comfortable. Recommended!
This is our favourite hotel when we're in Linz. It's modern, clean and comfortable. The rooms are super quiet. The air conditioning and heating works very well. The location is easy walking distance to everything you need without being right on a busy loud street. Will be staying again next time.
Very authentic traditional Austrian pension situated just outside from autobahn. Very clean and very nice decorated. Situated near some fields and some forests.
Very quiet area nice for walking and cycling.
Hosts are really friendly and helpful.
Rooms are very clean and very well equipped.
This hotel is perfectly located in Linz, and close to the bike trail. We had a wonderful room, quiet yet right off the main square. We enjoyed an excellent meal at the hotel restaurant and our bikes were securely garaged. We overslept in the most comfortable beds of our whole trip!
The hotel was easily accessible by train. We were able to visit one side of Linz using the train.
With snow welcoming us in the early morning, the travel to Altstadt & right towards Solar City was very memorable one for sure!
The staff were very very helpful & kind. Thanks to all.
Nice hotel for sleep over and probably also for longer business trips, since rooms are spacious, very well equipped with kitchenette. There is also a self-service laundry in this hotel. Breakfast is good with some local austrian products as well.
The hotel is easy to find in Linz and there're parking places nearby. It's a nice economic option. The rooms are small, nut have everything you need. It's good for a short stay. It's really close to the city center of Linz.
Excellent location in park, next to Danube close to Linz center. Very good breakfast, with nice terrace to look over the Danube. Comfortable business type hotel. Lockup cage for bicycles in the garage.
Traditional Austrian room, very clean with a large bathroom. The staff were very friendly. For us the location was perfect as we didn't want to drive through the centre of the city.
The location, the rooms, parking both underground and outside. I loved the design and the architectural details. The bed was comfy and the entire hotel very clean.
The hotel is in an excellent location, at a transport hub including taxis. The room was clean, quiet, the staff was pleasant. Breakfast good, overall satisfaction.
The hotel was nice and clean, room was very spacious and very well equiped. In the city center, close to everything in the center. Breakfast was also delicious!
