City Rooms  

I got upgraded as I got a visitor for 2 of 9 nights. I would suggest always asking for one of the bigger rooms if travelling more than 1. Standard rooms were pretty standard. Bigger rooms were pretty big.

Austria is a smokers country. They smoke everywhere, even in restaurants, bars and clubs. In city rooms, there is a constant smell of smoke. They smoke at the entrance, at the elevator (inside the building), at the corridors of the hotel there is a constant smell of smoke from the smoking room that has no door shielding it from the rest of the hotel. Since Austria IS a smokers paradise, one gets used to this after a weeks time.

Location and the spacious room we stayed in

Breakfast was awful. They ran out of bread, coffee, everything, 30 minutes before closing time and never replace it. Service was nonexistent. They didn't even put toilet paper in the rooms WC.

Location is good enough and accesiveness by public transport is pretty good. It has a very good price/service relationship taking into account that prices in Vienna are high. THe personnel is very helpful although they leave the instalations by night. Very good balance.

It is a small hotel located at the outskirts of the historical centre 10 minutes with a tram. T holds 3 floors in a residential building. The room I stayed was cosy, comfortable, quite and clean. Everything was working and the wifi had a strong signal. The personnel was kind and responsive.

The entrance of the building was not nice. It served as a backdoor of a restaurant that was located at the ground floor, because of that it had a bad smell. It did not affect the other floors.

This hotel must have opened fairly recently, as all furniture, the wall paint, the bathroom appear to be new and in very good condition. The reception staff is friendly, the breakfast ok for the price of the room.

We were assigned room Nr. 12 and I can't say if this is true for all rooms, but in this particular room there was no possibility of blocking out the sunlight (only internal, semi-transparent curtains installed) so it was "day" as early as 6:30 pm on a summer day, which completely woke us up. Furthermore, the windows are fairly old and there is no air- conditioning, so this east-facing room got blazingly hot (+28°c!!) by 8am. Since we had spent a long night out in the city, we really didn't want to get up before 10am, but this was absolutely out of the question in this sauna of a room. Furthermore, the walls are paper-thin. I know that you will read that "walls are paper-thin" in every hotel review even if it's an exaggeration, but this time, I swear, it is true: we not only heard our room-neighbors "getting it on" in every (!) little detail, we also clearly heard our other neighbor going for "Nr. 2" on the toilet, with the flushing being as loud as if he had stunk up our own room's bathroom. It's a pity that they saved on these little details (sound and light insulation, a/c), otherwise this could be a nice hotel. The way it is, I can only recommend: stay away from it, there are far better hotels in Vienna for the same price at the same distance from the main sights.

Staff were helpful when their English was adequate. They did make apologies and tried their best. Meager breakfast was cheerfully presented. Once I found my way in with help from a neighboring barkeep, my initial impression was good.

My first room was astonishingly noisy from cars and trolleys, as well as a baby in the next room who cried for hours. Exhaustion didn't save me because the bed literally kept falling apart and loudly. My next room had a smoking lounge right outside the door. Staff members literally left the building at 7pm so when I was locked out of the hotel because the electronic lock failed, I waited a half hour for the owner to unlock it. Fortunately, one of the other guests had a cel phone. Need I go on? It was Kafkaesque.

Location, Helpful and very friendly staff. Guided well for moving around Vienna. Quiet area. Very near Tram and Bus. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Space cramped. No Coffeemaker or Fridge in the room.Breakfast very basic.

The hotel was far from the old city however it was close to the volskoper opera house.
