Our room didn't have any air conditioning, and by the late afternoon, it got pretty warm in there. Luckily, there were two oscillating fans in the room, and with it cooling down at night, we were able to open the windows and blow some cool air towards the beds, so we were able to sleep fairly well.
The other thing we didn't like was that there was no shower stall in the bathroom; only a big oval tub with a hand-held shower wand. I have no idea how anyone could possibly use that sort of thing without spraying water all over the floor (which we did). I just find that really annoying, and can't imagine anyone would really want that instead of a simple shower stall.
Lastly, there were a ton of dead bugs in the wall sconce light fixtures. They were shaped kind of like tulips, open at the top and coming to a rounded point at the bottom. In several of them, there was literally about an inch and a half of dead bugs collected inside. There were also a couple of blood splotches on the wall from where someone had smashed mosquitoes. Kind of gross.
Our room was a suite, with an extra bedroom attached to it with three extra beds in it. The room had an average sized bathroom, but it didn't have a shower (only a tub with a hand-held shower wand).
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They booked our "Sound of Music" tour for us, and helped us with a couple other inconsequential things.
The breakfast room was nice, and attended by several people, so there was no waiting for coffee, etc., and no shortage of food items. The breakfast itself was pretty much what you'd expect of breakfast in Germany or Austria.
On our last day in Salzburg, we still hadn't visited the castle, so we planned on doing that after we checked out of the hotel. The staff let us put all our luggage into one of their two luggage rooms, and come back for it whenever we were ready. This was nice, because it meant we could leave our car in the parking garage (a few blocks away), and go check out the castle. When we were done with that, we went straight to the car park, got the care, and went to the hotel, where we got our luggage and put it right into the car. Made that whole thing a lot easier.
