Really very nice .
Very dark tired interior
Everything was clean. The location and view was amazing. The rooftop terrace amazing.
Best location on the river every thing is around you on a walking distance the breakfast in the roof is amazing , no mini bar in the room, the staff are OK but lack experience
We're so glad that some of the other hotels that we looked at 1st were booked. Location is a huge plus for my family when traveling and Hotel Stein is in a great spot! You just cross the bridge in order to enjoy historic Salsburg, walk down the street to enjoy the beautiful Annabell Gardens and can enjoy lots of eating options behind the hotel. In addition, the upstairs terrace has the ultimate view of Salzburg. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. We always received a warm and friendly greeting when entering the hotel each day.
While the breakfast each morning was wonderful, the staff definitely needs some improvement. We enjoyed breakfast and afternoon cocktails there each day. While they were all very pleasant, most seemed a bit overwhelmed and lost on very simple server related tasks. I understand that most are students working during school holiday. However, mgmt made constant rounds to each table to see how guests were doing. This really isn't a complaint, but be aware that this hotel is an old hotel and with that comes some quirky features. The halls are dark, small elevators, crooked floors, plaster walls, etc...It definitely wasn't the prettiest room or hotel that we stayed in on our Germany/Austria trip, but the beds were comfy, the rooms were clean and spacious (family room), staff was great and location was key.
I booked the hotel via internet with my credit card, but, unexpectadly, hotel personnel proceeded to the payement probably right after our arrival from that card, without waiting for my authorisation - I wished to pay with the other card, but it was already impossible.
Location , location ...terrace and the breakfast superb ....
My room "cut in half" was way too small , and again no CNN or BBC news ? Come on ! A 4* hotel ....
The location in the city of Salzburg, but immediately at one if the most busy crossings of the town
Very dirty and inacceptably low levels of the ceiling, very dirty staircases. Nobody cleans in depth.

Location Rooftop restaurant and view up there. Receptionists were wonderful. Two bedrooms
Service was poor at the rooftop restaurant. Only got to use the morning breakfast one morning out of three due to early flight and train scheduled. Nice if breakfast was open at 6am. Only one bedroom with airconditioning unit. It kept waking me up though with its noises. Squeeky floors. Any one would get up you would hear them. too noisy to open windows during the evening as there was restaurants and shops next door.
This was a triple room to accommodate my husband and myself as well as our 22-year old son. It was more like a suite with a separate bedroom (king bed) and private bath next to the living area where the twin bed was located for our son. We all had ample room and it was very comfortable. WE loved the location since it was near to many of the areas of the city we visited. The stunning views of Salzburg from the terrace are not to be missed! We found the hotel staff pleasant, friendly and very helpful with planning our tours, calling us a taxi, etc. The Hotel Stein is an older building but lovingly updated and very comfortable. The air conditioning and free Wi-Fi worked fine for us, too.
There is an elevator but you'll still have to carry your bags up one flight of stairs to access it. Also, only one of the two elevators goes clear to the top floor. The other one only goes to the 6th floor and you'll have to climb 20+ steps to reach the terrace level where the breakfast is served and the bar and rooftop terrace are located. The terrace is a "happening" place on weekends and hotel guests could not get tables or service. Perhaps a reservation system for hotel guests should be offered.
Location and breakfast
Very small room
Perfect location, the bér áldást with the panorama unforgettable, staff is super. In the last minute I asked For the extra bed and we were upgraded to a family room! We will come back defenetly! Kiváló elhelyezkedés, a reggeli a teraszon a panorámával felejthetetlen, a személyzet szuper. Utolsó pillanatban kertem pótágyat a gyerkőcnek és térítés mentesen kaptunk családi szobát! Visszajövünk még!
No fridge in room And a cattle would not be bad. Nincs szoba hűtő és a vízforraló se lenne rossz.
The service and location to the local town
Rooftop bar great
The service The Breakfast The Roof Terrace restaurant
The Single room was seriously badly designed and more like a cell than a room.. It was particularly uncomfortable for elderly people like myself. The bed was too low and difficult to get up from, The Arm chair was also extremely uncomfortable and too low. The whole thing was claustrophobic although the bathroom was acceptable and very clean
Great location, quirky, but a great terrace to have sunset drinks while looking at the castle and puffing on a cigar.
Loved the huge room with soft cushions and seperate duves for each bed. Also the great breakfast and room overlooking the old city.
Romantic, European style hotel with charm. Lovely rooftop bar/restaurant. Great location to shops and sights.
No English television stations-but do you really travel to watch tv?
Staff, location, spacious room, clean, nicely traditional, classic look and feel
Slightly dark decor
