Donauwalzer HotelOttakringer Straße 5, 17. Hernals, 1170 Vienna (Show map) Good, Score from 161 reviews“Everything worked. Front desk personnel were very professional. The included morning breakfast was very sufficient.”
Brian,
Portland
The family-run Hotel Donauwalzer is right next to the Alser Straße subway station (line U6). It offers direct tram connections to the center of Vienna. Here you will find modern, individually furnished rooms, a sauna, and an infrared cabin. Vienna’s General Hospital (AKH) is very close to Hotel Donauwalzer. The University of Vienna and the Votive Church are only a short tram ride away. A tram and bus stop is right in front of Hotel Donauwalzer. Hotel Rooms: 74

The breakfast! The hotel's slogan: "three star hotel with four star services and five star charm" is overambitious

The heating of the room was not working. So they changed our room but the new room had very uncomfortable beds and the toilets had a very bad smell. The location is very far away from city center because you need to change twice the metro line. The hotel is surrounded with low quality bars and a brothel next to it. Not recommended for families. I do not suggest to stay at this hotel. I would pay more for a better hotel if I had a second chance.. They also charge 4% more on exchange rate of the bank which is very unfair.

The hotel is situated nearby a metro station, rooms are clean. Not everybody from the stuff speaks English. I traveled with my friend, he's American and I'm Russian. They offered him a considerably bigger room though we paid absolutely the same price. It was a very unpleasant discovery.

The room itself was quite good ("between satisfactory and good"). Reception and small cafe-restaurant/breakfast area were in good condition (lately repaired). Hotel staff was very friendly. The shower was almost under satisfactory. There was neither shower box nor shower curtains. Big area of wall tiles were cracked. Toilet seat was leaking and noisy. It was good that tolet and shower were separate.

The hotel is very close to the city centre yet not in the noisy part of the city. Easy access from the hotel front door to the underground and tram. Also easy to arrive from and to the airport. As an english speaking client there is not a singel channel on tv that is in english. The tv guide shows that there is RAi and cnn but non of these were accessible.

Was great, room was small but expected that - everything was clean and worked. Despite heavy traffic outside, couldn't hear a thing in my room. Breakfast was good, location to the underground system was great, staff were friendly and helpful. It's yet another hotel that seems to think wifi is a premium service. A friend was staying in a hostel in the city at the same time as me where it was free. Far from a deal breaker though, and it was easy enough to make do with plentiful free wifi in cafes (Freewave).

The hotel is very charming, early 20th century atmosphere, and my room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast (included in the price) was very good. A little annoying that wi-fi is not freely available, and the price is a little steep.

The Tram is right in front of the hotel, so you can get to the city centre in no time. The beds were way past their working life, and so were the pillows. The room was too hot, yet there was no way of adjusting it. Also, you could really tell the carpet was not clean. Nonetheless, I guess I was expecting too much for the price.

Very clean, modern hotel with excellent staff and a lovely breakfast to start the day with. Proximity to public transport is another big plus. The hotel should really consider providing free internet. The walls are rather thin; I chose the Park View Double Room which was very quiet except on one night, due to noisy guests nest door.

Ideal location with good access to transport systems. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of dishes. Reading reports before booking it advised you to book a park room at the back of the hotel to avoid noisy traffic. Room 15 facing the inner courtyard was supposed to be quiet. However we were subjected to noisy guests in the bar area until 2am which did disturb our sleep. Also as room 15 is near the breakfasting area you are aware from 5.30am of the clattering of plates and the aroma of bacon frying.

The two lovely Newfoundland Dogs, Alivio & Eos. Although don't wear your best Gaberdine trousers when you meet them?? The buffet breakfast was huge, pity I have a very poor appetite, it was a banquet. Also breakfast hours between 7am & 10pm, refreshingly civilised. Mint on the pillow, nice touch. Friendly Housekeeping staff. Tram stop right outside the hotel which made it so easy to get to the centre of Wien. Well done! Not enough tables at breakfast. The bar was very disappointing, run out of Chivas Whisky & didn't bother to replace it? Lots of noise early from housekeeping staff early in the morning.
