Hotel Erzherzog Rainer

We arrived a little early of check-in time, but were given a room at once.

Borrowing iron/ironboard should be made easier. The best thing would be to have them in the rooms. If not, keep them near the reception and give them immediately to guests who ask for them. No need to have a member from the hotel staff to "help".

Good location, clean, welcoming, efficient.

Not all the rooms have air-conditioning, which can be a problem in Summer.

The staff, the room, the free internet access, the bar, restaurant, breakfast the location were all excellent. The hotel in general was excellent and I would have given it 10 out of 10 had it not been for the lack of air conditioning and the bar closing at 23.00.

The downsides, which were pretty major, were no air conditioning in the rooms or restaurant, only in the lobby, and the bar shut a 23.00 with guests having to use the mini bar in their room if they wanted to drink after this time, which is not very sociable especially if you are in company. I have never stayed in a hotel anywhere that did not have a residents licence. We were there during the heatwave and had one fan to cool the room. Although the windows were permanently open and shutters shut most of the time, the room was still like an oven. Althtough it did not particularly bother us, as we could not sleep for the heat anyway, noise from the trams and traffic outside could be a problem for others.

staff is very freindly and polite, well trained. rooms are clean& maintaned in order. hotel's breakfast is good. good location for city trip.

We found the standard extremely high for the price paid for the room - extremely good value. All staff were friendly and helpful, and restaurant was good and the breakfast was exceptionally good. The decor was pleasant throughout the hotel.

Location - very good for exploring the whole city, discretion and comfort, cleanliness of the rooms was impeccable as well as their quietness (although situated near a tram line, the rooms were sound proved).

The water plumbing seemed quite old as the water drainage was slow.

The staff (including cleaners, porters, and wait staff) were friendly, efficient and professional. The manager is to be congratulated, everything flowed seamlessly. They epitomized Vienese hospitality and grace.

The lack of ventilation/cooling in the upper rooms made it uncomfortable (even when windows were opened in the room). The restaurant was a disappointment. I was served 4 dinners and only 1 was fresh. Breakfast, however, was fine.

breakfast could be better, bread was excellent so was cheese, bacon not too good, quite dry and difficult to bite into, coffee rather weak and cake disappointing, rather surprising considering Austrian cakes are so wonderful but there was lots of choice so on the whole rather fine, but there is some room for improvement

Good value for money, cozy rooms, good breakfast

Not in the heart of the old town, however it is still within the walking distance from main attractions.
