Family-run since 1912, the non-smoking Bergland Hotel is in a quiet location in central Salzburg, only a 10-minute walk from the historic Old Town, the Congress Centre, and the Mirabell Gardens.
Score from 665 reviews Excellent
Close to the Congress centre Friendly hotel with a true feel of Salzburg. So much nicer than big, corporate hotels that could be anywhere in the world!
proximity to the Festspielhaus next door Asian cuisine and Cup&Cino good WiFi
no tea/ coffee facilities in the room small bathroom, funny configuration
Location Friendly staff
No air condition Noisy if facing the street and building works still going on nearby
The room is not big, but very well equipped and clean.
Location is reasonable good Friendly personnel

Location, staff, breakfast
No A/C or fan, coffee/tea in room
Everything was good
WiFi Was so poor and the internet was the slowest internet that i've ever experienced it , so i couldn't have any skype calls or facetime or anything ...
-Althoug the breakfast was with limited choices, but the really have tasty food. - The rooms were clean.
- The Hotel Reception closes at 10 pm !!!!!! - we reached the hotel at 10:15 and there was no one from the staff to great us. - The roomes were really very very small. - The hotel is not Air conditioned. - There were constructions near the hotel, which made it very difficult for us to sleep in the morning.
The service is excellent, and so are the facility and environment. The hotel is really near the railway station and all the place I want to go.
Excellent location close to Mirabel Gardens, yet still easy walk to train. Friendly staff, comfortable room & excellent price for a Friday night in Salzburg
12 Euro per person for breakfast maybe a little too much
Everything is good except wifi doesn't work!
Wifi doesn't work!
They have a great breakfast buffet and our room was newly renovated and modern. Free Wifi!!
The concept of the bathroom door. From the inside difficult to open.
Lovely atmosphere, good room facilities and nice staff. On the other side of the river to the old town but still an easy, pleasant walk through Mirabell Palace gardens. Very close to the train station. They have a lounge on ground floor with nice sofa, books, local event posters and leaflets and a TV, which certainly indicates a property kept with care and might be good for a bit socialising too.
Quilt was a bit too thin for me so it felt cold in the morning. Would have been nice to have an extra blanket in the room but I guess you can just ask for one if you need it. I just used my coat as it was a short stay.
The hotel is modern and clean, though it claimed a 'designed' hotel but rather just like a business city hotel. Has a lift, too. Walkable distance from the station.
Actually the location can be a bit tricky as lots of construction were going on near the area. Roads were blocked and it was a bit hard to find the street name. No one had told about this before my arrival, so I also worried about the noise. However thankfully they stopped this during the night, so no worry.
It's a lovely hotel - always stay there when in Salzburg.
the very helpful staff!
I choose this hotel due to its location between train station amd old town. The staff were fantastic.
The bedroom was clean and comfortable, so is the bathroom. This makes the stay enjoyable.
The staffs are nice and helpful. The location is also good. Going to the old town takes around 10 min by walk. Besides, there are two very good cafe shops nearby. In general, we enjoy the time staying at this hotel.
Wifi did not work
The staff were very friendly. The room was clean & comfortable with a good shower. Excellent location for the train station and the Old Town. I'd stay here again.
We like the size of the room and bathroom (Nr 38) but...
This hotel does not deserve 4 stars! Absolutely NO ! 3 stars might be the maximum! Here are all the problems we had and saw: - Apparently the front door of the hotel must be repaired as it was still locked in the day and every day - The advertisement says 700 m from the historic center. It takes 1.3 km - In the room : No Minibar (for a 4 stars hotel !!!) - In the room : No Safe - In the room: the toilets are not the standard of a 4 star (maybe 2 *). The toilet reversed and unpleasant. - During the two days, the WIFI never worked. - Reception closed after 10pm - No restaurant - Only one bar. But it is the receptionist who made the service. So forget the bar when people book in. - The general appearance of the hotel is outdated. Furniture too. - The breakfast was really not at the standard of 4 stars hotel. Not much choice. And not very good. We do not recommend this hotel. Except if they remove the stars no due and reduce the price. Maybe....
Wonderful location, staff, and breakfast! Couldn't have been better!
Not the fault of the hotel, but there is a lot of construction surrounding the hotel - they do start at 7am, but you're in Salzburg, so get up and see the city! Otherwise, very quiet.
First off all, the location was great! Only a 10ish minute walk to the Old Town and just 2 blocks from the beautiful Mirabell gardens & palace. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was quite large and super clean. There was a nice garden out back to sit and relax in the evening. Wifi was acceptable, a little slow at night, but overall just fine and we were on the 3rd floor at the end of the hall. The staff was extremely helpful and always pleasant. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this to others.
The elevator was extremely small. With our bags, we had to go up one at a time. Also, not the fault of the hotel, but there was construction going on next door. Construction started promptly at 7 am Friday and Saturday mornings and was loud. However, it did get us out of bed and get a jump on our day! ;)
