Just a 5-minute walk from Innsbruck’s historic quarter and the Golden Roof, the Hotel Engl is in the quiet district of St. Nikolaus. The rooms all have a bathroom with a hairdryer.
Score from 575 reviews Very good
Situated in the historic heart of Innsbruck next to the Inn River, the Gasthof Innbrücke is only 270 yards from the Goldenes Dachl. It offers free wired internet access.

Lovely guesthouse with vew of the snowy mountains. We liked the location (away from the city) but with easy access to Innsbruck by bus (we left our vehicle at the guesthouse- bus stop outside the hotel). Rich breakfast, good restaurant. Friendly staff. The hostess upgraded the room without any extra cost because they weren't expecting any other guests. Spacious room, tradtional but not with a feeling of "old".
Very nice traditional building a bit outside of Innsbruck. A good option if you travel by car as located just besides the road. Room was just renovated and quiet as we wished for. Breakfast was good. Remember to use the doorbell to get in :)
I understood that rooms vary somewhat in their condition. Bathroom was a bit uncomfortable as it only has thin walls that are not built up to the ceiling so showering brings humidity to the room and it's not the most private toilet experience either.
Very large room size Confortable beds View
Too small TV Location is far from City Center Average breakfast offering No lift
Absolutely an excellent trip and experience staying at Gasthof Zum Schupfen. Hotel staff was extremely friendly and hospitable (they even helped dig out my car after several snow storms!). A lovely gasthaus situated in the Tyrollean Alps. Shared several beers with the hotel guests and staff who were excellent company, and really made the trip memorable and enjoyable. I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends who are staying in the Innsbruck area.
Location is a bit remote, but a perfect getaway for those looking for a quiet stay in the Alps.
Our experience in Bavaria and Austria has been good rooms and friendly staff. This hotel was no exception. However, the food was beyond compare. After the most amazing meal we've had in 4 weeks in Europe, I enquired and it turns out the chef trained in a top restaurant in paris. It is a gem!
wonderful accommodation, old building, large room, excellent food (breakfast with a large selection, I recommend dinner there too)
Very good restaurant - worth a dinner
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The welcome we received on arrival was very friendly. We were made very welcome by the owner.
We had a little difficulty in finding the place. We thought it was in the town of Innsbruck, however it was out in the country.
Quiet Charming furnishings Attentive staff
Very small bathroom Slightly off city center No hot breakfast
The staff are absolutely charming. The building is old and interesting and very well converted. We had a lovely room and a great dinner it is very good value for money but too far out of Innsbruck if that is where you want to be!
Great position just 7 km far from Inssbruck's city center (you need a car). Good Breakfast. Room was clean and comfortable.
very friendly owners; makes you feel like at home.
Owner friendliness and helpful
It doesn't have a lift
Room very small,no space for cases, shower and toilet in no .more than a cupboard with a shower awkward to use. Not easy to gain access on first arrival as main entrance was locked. Expensive and poor value for money compared to other hotels used on this trip.
Very old but renovated house with spirit of times.
Restaurant is closed every Monday(((
Nice location and breakfast, spacious room.
Be aware that the check in limit - until 8 pm - is pretty strict.
The food is amazing! Do yourself a favor and eat at the restaurant no matter whether you stay or not. My wife and I and what some might consider foodies and honestly, this was a 5-star restaurant. The breakfast was very good as well. The rooms were nice, and comfortable enough.
The location was way outside of Innsbruck itself with limited public transportation. It can be a little noisy due to the location on the highway, but if you are getting up early anyway, it's not a big deal
Not close to town as advertised. Very rigid check in times. On a busy road.
Comfort, location, a lot of bugs, is an a train pass so its very hard to sleep at nite with the noice, no sheets to cover, summer will be very hot there, breakfast very poor, owner very rough, wifi only inside the bedroom, super far away from everything, avoid this place if you want a relaxing vacation!
Clean, big room. Personell spoke good english, which is rare
Reception was not open between 12.00 - 14.00 eventhough outside was a sign promoting lunch between 12.00 - 14.00
Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were exceedingly clean and comfortable, and meals at the restaurant were superb. Would highly recommend the Schupfen Guesthouse to anyone travelling in the Innsbruck area.
Being close to innsbruck
+close to the higway +clean +nice breakfast +parking
-view was DEFINATELY bad, to the backyard which is not taken care of at all (we were told by the owner that our room is budget room and for such a price we would have a shared room of 8 people in Innsbruck) -no soap, shampoo in the bathroom to use
Nice and large room, feelt clean and well-kept. The breakfast was totally ok. Very nice staff in general, especially in the restaurant in the evening. Good food! Close to Innsbruck but still much closer to nature.
I was expecting a small village. but the house was situated right next to the road, only a few other houses nearby. Seemed like you could go nowhere for a walk or so without taking the car or bus.
Location off motorway, excellent on way to Italy. Good restaurant /chef, very friendly staff. Would stay again.
