Situated right on Vienna's main shopping street Mariahilfer Straße, the Hotel Kummer occupies an impressive historic building next to the Neubaugasse stop of the U3 metro line.
Score from 2071 reviews Excellent
The Hotel Admiral is centrally located in the very heart of Vienna, in the immediate vicinity of Mariahilfer Straße and the Museum Quarter.
Score from 567 reviews Good
Very nice friendly hotel. Worth it for the beautiful old lift alone!
The breakfast was good and the service friendly however the coffee was not nice (even by hotel standards).
Well located close to underground and tram stops with at least 6 good places to eat locally. But close enough to city centre to walk. Reception extremely polite and helpful. Building looks unimpressive from outside, but cosy within.
Early morning deliveries and refuse collection part of the Vienna scene. Buchfeldgasse no exception.
good location to walk to vienna attractions Great breakfast helpful staff
Location is good - 3 minutes walking from the Rathaus. Breakfast is OK. The room is large.
The whole hotel and the room are very old, outdated and have a bad smell. There was dust everywhere in the room. And we even found a live bug in the child bed! We asked for a baby bed when making a reservation. But when we came there was no bed for our baby son in the room. We asked the old lady on the reception for a crib - she said that they don't have any cribs, only an additional bed for 25 euro per night! After that the lady tried to took from us more money than it was written in booking voucher. All other staff were OK, but this lady we met on check in was extremely rude and unfriendly.
I liked the location and friendly staff. Good combination of price, location and service. I stayed there for one night with my friend and we did not have any complaints.
We had a room with twin-beds. I think the beds were small but it was possible to sleep OK
Good location helpful staff
Nice hotel, nice service from employees, good location. Delicious and complete breakfast
Room a bit too small
great friendly staff, good breakfast, excellent location
parking in the hotel's garage is too expensive
I loved Petra, Patrick and Mario for their helpfulness . They were a delight . The kitchen staff were also very polite and caring.
I wish the rooms floors were cleaned and bathrooms too. I noticed that only the towels were changed n dustbins cleared . I had to clean it up myself.
Well-located near the major sites and public transport. Quiet street and building. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. Nice place all in all.
Wifi was unnecessarily difficult -- constantly renewing usernames and passwords seems so antiquated nowdays. Breakfast, although adequate, was monotonous after just a few days. Perhaps a little more enthusiasm from the kitchen staff would do wonders in the breakfast room??
Loved the staff: very friendly and open, all of them speak good English; always ready to help too when it comes to finding your way to a railway station or translating something for you from German. Location is perfect: you're in the center (or very very close to it, depending on whether you only call the center Innere Stadt or not); but at the same time you're not in the middle of the crowd. Breakfasts are brilliant: good choice of food (you can make yourself a sandwich from all kinds of stuff, boiled eggs, fruit, cereal etc.) and coffee (the Viennese types like grosser brauner as well as those classic capuccinos). My room was cleaned every day, I had no usual soap/shower/towel problems. And I personally loved the historic elevator and the overall atmosphere of the place: very warm and local it feels. I'm definitely recommending this place and will myself always stay here when I come back to Vienna.
Reception is only open from 6.30am (I think) until 10.30pm. So if you arrive when reception is closed, I honestly have no idea how you check in. And also, when reception is closed, the elevator is turned off, which means you have to climb the stairs to your room on, say, 3rd floor (highest floor of the building). No worries about getting in at night though - the keys to the rooms open the entrance door too. And I'm giving the wi-fi 4 stars - you have to get a new login/password every two days. And log in every single time you use the internet.
Location, Friendly staff
Old equipment, clouds of dust under beds, and terrible internet- you have to use password only for ONE device in you room, not one for all and have to insert password every time when you enter to internet!
Location, staff and the free breakfast.
The bathroom had an odour but it was easy enough to close the door to contain the smell.
Friendly personell, good location for visiting the city, no luxus, but exactly what you need for a city break.
No slippers in the room though wooden floors old and dirty carpert in the lobby and hallway
lobby officer is nice room is clean
Very helpful reception staff.
No tea and coffee facilities in the room.
Good location Friendly staff
- Kindness and openness of staff - Clean rooms - Location - No noise - Nice breakfast - Working Wi-Fi
- Missing fridge in the rooms - No free tea packs offered - No telephone and staff support from 22:30-07:30
wi-fi is bed!
Central location, at short walking distance from the Christmas Market in front of the Rathaus. Extremely kind and helpful staff. Nice spreading choice at breakfast with several local specialities. Unexpectedly large room.
Parking very narrow. Space is and looks (maybe too) old.
Better choices of food for breakfast.
Poor internet access in the room.
Excellent location for this price, including the breakfast!
Great personal, good location.
Really small beds and the internet was down the whole week.
Especially the willingness end helpfulness by the staff at the reception. The location is good.( That´s why we chose it!) The fact that the hotel is not so big, mor personal.
The twin beds are too narrow.
This hotel is perfectly positioned, on a quiet street, not far from the city center. Everything was according to a 3 star value. Breakfast is good, staff is nice. It has an inexpensive garage for your car. We had a superior room which was huge and cozy. It is a great hotel for its price, location and stars.
Shower curtain was a bit dirty, but that is generally the problem with shower curtains: if you want them to look presentable, you should change them more often. I also didn't like that the maid touched and repositioned my personal (hygiene) towel. The garage is very small, if you have a bigger (SUV) car and the garage is somewhat populated (it has only 4 places), you may have trouble parking.
