Grand Hotel Sauerhof  

Location was perfect and all the members of staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was just great! Spa comlex was really nice as well. Especially we were in the dead season and got a feeling that all was made for us!

Internet connection (Wi-Fi) was very poor, I couldn't connect my IPad at all... High speed connection cable is made for labtops and cost 5Euro per hour... Also our room was tidy, but floor was not properly cleaned.

It's not conservative - it's just plain old. It's not shabby chic - just shabby! That hotel could be so great - but they'd need to change a lot !

Excellent location to town center.

It pains me to give this once 5 star hotel (in 2006) a mere 1 star this year. Where once the restaurant was superb and the spa exceptional (greeted with champagne and serviced by a staff of at least 12), the restaurant is now passable at best and the spa is staffed by two persons - only one of which is present at a time. Our purpose to visit Baden was to have a relaxing week with many scheduled spa treatments (facials, massages, etc.) On our second day there, just a few minutes before my wife was to have a massage, we were called to say the one girl on duty that day was sick and both of our treatments were cancelled. This extended into the second day, then they tried to reschedule all our treatments into one day. When my wife was getting her massage, the phone rang and the girl had to leave to answer it. The spa is under new management and very poorly staffed. Other substandard notes: TV reception was not good - sound often dropped off and the picture was pixalated; the shower leaked; light bulbs in the hallway burned out and were not replaced; room cleaned one day at 3pm; breakfast buffet items (eggs, meats..) not replenished. Any one of the those things by themselves would not be a problem but when you look at them all together, it shows a lack of pride by the staff and management. It is a shame that the new ownership has not chosen to maintain the high standards which brought us back to this hotel.

The hotel is quiet, the building itself is very beautiful, and the grounds spacious. The location is great for enjoying Baden am Wein and the surrounding area to include Vienna. The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. The breakfast was adequate. The restaurant was good however a bit pricey. We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the building although it is clear that the upkeep and maintenance has much to be desired.

We selected this hotel primarily because of the pool and wellness facilities. However, when we checked in, we were told that the pool had closed the day prior due to technical maintenance. Seeing our disappointment, the staff asked had we not gotten an email to inform us? They said they notified booking.com to email all their customers. We did not receive an email, nor did the hotel offer anything in compensation. A discount to the nearby Thermal Bad would have been nice, or an upgrade to a larger room, but nothing. The wellness area seemed deserted. The staff, although nice, was very young; the average age, probably 22. I mean nothing negative against young employees, but generally, they are being mentored by more mature staff. This did not seem to be the case. Although not crowded, one morning we waited 10 minutes before being offered coffee and the evening we had dinner, my husband was served a warm beer and had to ask for a cold one and then waited for 15 minutes. We were there for 5 days and never saw more than 2 staff at any given time. The hotel seems to have lost its pride which is sad as it has so much potential. The paint job was very sloppy with paint on wall fixtures and picture frames; the electrical sockets were hanging out of the wall in our room; and the bathroom exhaust fan didn't work only adding to the discomfort of the hot temps. We finally asked for a fan which helped tremendously however it had to be propped in the doorway as the stand was broken.

I felt like in a different century, very nice room design. I slept very good, hotel is quiet and has a beautiful garden and SPA. Really relaxing weekend.

It was lovely with a feeling of age even though I dont think its that old.It was personal for me as I knew that area well before it was rebuilt from a ruin. The breakfast was superb and the pool nice, also near the centre. I was thouroughly happy with it.

You had to ask for shampoo, also bathrobe. The water came out a bit yellow at first , then it was fine, otherwise no complaints.

Very nice building, good location very close to the city center. The hotel has big potential.

One of the rooms for our group was in total mess - unprepared and not cleaned. Mini bar was nearly empty and contents were different in each room. Internet connection (LAN) on the rooms was very unstable, but most of the time not working. Quality of food and service in the hotel restaurant was poor, poor, poor - it didn't fit a 4 star hotel at all, frankly I wouldn't go to such restaurant for a second time with the prices that do not match quality. Staff generally incompetent, some were very friendly and helpfull, but in general the hotel is mismanaged (it is all problem of the hotel management in my opinion). This is not a 4 star hotel for me.

I loved the hotel and its style, the building, the park and furnitures were beautiful. I enjoyed our time, it was really relaxing. Comfortable, silent rooms, nice SPA, very friendly and helpful staff who are ready to organise everything. I was really satisfied with our choice and also the hotel is very close to Vienna.

It would be nice to have a jacuzzi or a warm bath in the SPA area.

Die Ruhe und die Schönheit des Hotels

Es war am Abend zu wenig Licht wenn ich schreiben wollte. Bei den Lampen wird glaube ich gespart.

Absolule Ruhe, man kann richtig abschalten.

Der Safe kann mit wenig Kraftaufwand mitgenommen werden (Sicherheit). Steckdose ragt aus der Wand. Tapeten lösen sich von der Wand. Ein komischer Geruch der zum teil auch die Augen reizt. (Zimmer 43)

Sehr schönes historisches Gebäude. Schöne klassische Musik ertönt aus dem Radio am Zimmer !

Pool - über 6 Tage mit 21° eindeutig zu kalt zum Schwimmen , restl.3 Tage überhaupt nicht in Betrieb ! Saunabereich - kein Wohlfühlcharakter . ( Infrarotsauna defekt ). Bar - ständig geschlossen ! Gesamt : entspricht nicht den Anforderungen eines 4 Sterne Hotels !

Das Abendessen im Restaurant war sehr gut ...

Obwohl es bereits den zweiten Tag stark geschneit hatte, war der Fußweg vom Ausgang neben dem Restaurant zum Parkplatz nicht geräumt ( Abreise früh 9.00 !) so das man mit seinem Gepäck 150 m durch den schnee stapfen mußte :(

Посещаю данный отель на протяжении многих лет. К сожалению полностью сменился персонал. Качество обслуживания и комфорт резко изменились в худшую сторону.

Das überaus freundliche, höfliche und hilfsbereite Personal. Das schöne Gebäude.

Das Zimmer war nicht ausreichend beleuchtet (keine Deckenleuchte). Die inkludierten Wellnessangebote waren nicht zufriedenstellend.

Местоположение, романтическая атмосфера, достаточно разнообразный завтрак.

Были проблемы с феном и душем. Видно, что требуется некоторый ремонт, например, в зале для завтрака.

Die lage und die Zimmer,sehr ruhig

Das Personal beim Frühstück, zu wenig um den Gast gekümmert, nicht Professionell,alles ein bisschen träge!

Service war sehr gut. Zimmer groß. Frühstück war reichlich.

Durch die vielen Fenster, war es auf den Gängen ziemlich kalt.
