place, good breakfast
small room, uncomfortable, not very clean
Location easy walk into town, breakfast included, walking distance to restaurants, traditional building, staff very helpful
A local place. Got to meet the neighbors. Good food and drink. Historic old building but fully equipped. 10 minute walk to downtown. Tammy was a hoot.
Wifi was flakey. Grounds need sprucing up.
Service excellent: old world charm: Value for moneyStrongly recommended
There was no drinking water in the room I
The location was fantastic for getting into downtown Salzburg. There was a really close bus stop to the hotel. We also liked our breakfast included in the price. The beds were comfortable.
(1) The WIFI didn't work in our room. (2) The staff was very nice but disorganized. For example, When we arrived, it was difficult to find someone to check us in. Then our room didn't have a crib in it and we had to track someone down to get us a crib (we requested one ahead of time). We were asked if we could switch rooms and were quoted a cheaper price. We agreed, but when we checked out, the price had not been changed. It took about 30 mins to get it worked out. (3) The room was not kid friendly at all. We had a glass coffee table with broken edges. I wouldn't recommend for families with small children.
The hotel was really quirky with interesting artifacts. The room was comfortable with a very good shower. It had a homely feel to the hotel. We loved watching the tango dancing evening. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Limited parking spaces but we were aware of this before we went. We were very surprised that smoking is allowed in the main bar area.
The location was good Staff were very friendly
Beds were uncomfortable Room was in poor condition. For example, many of the lights were not working
Nice Stay Very good breakfast Easy 15 min walk to the historic center
Staff are friendly and professional. Although the internet is not reliable sometimes, the oth,er facilities are okay. Just wish they would put some shampoo and soap in the bathroom.
No shampoo and soap in the bathroom.
I have been to this hotel many times, with my family and on our own. The owner, never forgets us and is always welcoming. It is a family run hotel and very quirky. If you want to rest and enjoy privacy this hotel is the best. The hotel has probably one of the nicest places to eat in Salzburg and the local residents will all vouch for it. Beware it is closed on Sundays. You won't find bathrobes and your bed turned down, but if you want to feel you are everything Austrian this hotel with its amazing décor and its history, is perfect. Short walk into town, or hop on a No. 1 bus which goes across the river and to the main bus station and railway. I will always go to this hotel to unwind and eat glorious food.
Proximity to old city Salzburg..easy walking distance
Poor service from staff with no one at reception to offer assistance or support. Breakfast very limited and again no staff around. Room was clean but mattress shocking. No soap provided in bathroom. Took ages to get served for meal one night and was ignored whilst staff talked and laughed among themselves
Staff was great and the rooms were clean and cozy. The atmosphere was quirky and old-world feel. The dining room was romantic and the food was fabulous.
Lack of convenient parking.
it is a beautiful little pension a ten minute walk from the centre of town. it had an old trampoline and toys in the back our kids enjoyed playing on, as well as pet rabbits and a swing. Delicious breakfast! Gorgeous room.
The owners weren't very present and it was at times difficult to find someone to give us information about the surrounding areas. The restaurant is a bit overpriced compared to places in town.
This is a most wonderful place to stay. The staff is incredibly nice and the atmosphere is so charming. Accommodations were very clean and comfortable. We were going to go into town for dinner but decided to stay and eat and Haus Wartenberg. We were so glad we did because the food was spectacular. We will definitely go back again and highly recommend coming here.
Haus Wartenberg is the ideal historic, authentic and homey location for those visiting Salzburg. Great food and staff, with very comfortable and relaxing accommodations. Also within walking distance to various sites or access to taxis if needed.
Close to the centre. Large room. Good wifi. Fair breakfast.
No screens on the windows plus mosquitoes made for a troubled sleep.
Very central, near old town, very quaint hotel and quirky. Staff very helpful. We arrived at the hotel at 9.30pm and had a lovely supper at a very reasonable rate. Family room was perfect with own bathroom etc, breakfast was good, Felt very homely and relaxed and a great place to view Salzburg. Can park outside on road and walk wherever to sightsee.
Charming building, with lovely grounds. Nice location within walking distance to center. Our kids loved the swing and rabbit hutch.
Great place , lovely atmosphere. Very friendly staff
It could be a very charming place and was very clean. When we checked in, we looked at the room and the 2nd bed for our kids was so tiny and would comfortably accommodate kids under 5. When I told her we couldn,t stay, she did show us another room that had 2 single beds for our kids that worked out fine for us. She was very pleasant, but never around for any questions. The breakfast was good and in a quaint location, well staffed.
The place had a lot of junk sitting around. It looked like they were trying to fix the place up,but there was lumber sitting around and just looked messy. It was advertised as being in the town of Salzburg, but it was a good 15minute walk into town. It was not as it was advertised and I felt that we were misled. It was very expensive for what it was. The wifi reception in our room was poor, so my husband had to go down the hall to get better wifi reception.
Unconventional, very folkloric atmosphere. Perfect for families.
Some staff members though very kind and helpful only speak german
- 10-minute from the city centre - clean and calm
- cost/value ratio (98€ for a tiny room without bathroom and a big window leading to the lobby (no privacy then) is not a favorable one) - very basic breakfasts
The location was near the old city of Salzburg; and since the owner allowed us to use the hotel's bicycles for free, we biked everywhere for four days. Great way to see Salzburg, which is very bicycle friendly. Good breakfast included.
The latch for our bathroom door did not work correctly. Three light bulbs in our room were burned out. Water dripped from the ceiling in the hallway when someone took a shower in one particular room upstairs. It is a very old house, so it is a rather quirky place.
