Altstadthotel KasererbräuKaigasse 33, Altstadt, 5020 Salzburg (Show map) Good, Score from 406 reviews“Excellent location. Very nice, spotlessly clean room. Unusually nicely furnished. People at the reception desk were most helpful and courteous. Quiet location.”

Family-run for several generations, Altstadthotel Kasererbräu is located in the heart of Salzburg, only a 3-minute walk from the cathedral. Altstadthotel Kasererbräu provides a breakfast buffet as well as an Italian restaurant and a cafe serving Austrian pastries and coffee specialties. This carefully renovated, listed building was constructed in 1342. It is located directly in the city's pedestrian zone, at the foot of Hohensalzburg Fortress. Garages and parking lots are available near the hotel. Buses number 3, 5, 8 and 25 are only a short walk from the hotel. Altstadthotel Kasererbräu is only a short walk from all famous historic sights such as the cathedral, the Residence Square with its fountain, Mozart's birthplace and St. Peter's Monastery. You will also find many traditional Austrian restaurants in the historic quarter, not more than a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The rooms, some of which feature antique furniture, while some others are newly renovated, offer the highest level of comfort possible. Some categories offer additional facilities such as a minibar and a safe. Altstadthotel Kasererbräu features a spa area with sauna and steam bath. Hotel Rooms: 45

The location of the hotel is excellent. The hotel itself is quite good with good equipment and internal display is impressive. However, the reception girls were rude. for example, When I asked for the electric adapt, the girl said they had none at this moment and she also said impolitely, "... I can check room by room. Surely, you should pay it. Do you want?"

The breakfasts were very good with a large assortment of items. Staff was very accommodating and the art work was well chosen. The proximity to the old part of Salzburg was excellent. The only hassle was trying to find it with the road blocked by an large cylinder mechanism where a code needed to be punched in to lower it. Very little parking available.

The hotel was located in the perfect spot in Old Town Salzburg. Great sights and restaurants within steps of the door. Staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel itself has a charming history and good services. The first night I was there, I went running around Old Town and the River then came back to the hotel for a relaxing visit to the sauna and steam room. There is a cinema that is connected to the hotel where guests can view first run movies, as well as a good restaurant and bar just around the corner. Spar Supermarket is just across the street from the hotel. It was nice listening to the carriages go by the window of my room, as well as being able to hear the church bells in Old Town. The only thing I would recommend is changing the location of the towel bar in the bathroom. It may have been due to staying in a single room, but the towel bar was awkwardly placed right in line with the bathroom door and I was constantly hitting the bar with the door, which made me worry it would come out of the wall. That was really the only issue I noticed.

We had a wonderful view of the fortress from our 4 ppl apartment we stayed in. The location could not have been any better- close enough to the old town center but just far enough that we had a quiet and peaceful stay. Good breakfast, too!

Very convenient location to the fortress and the cathedrals. Very historic building and pleasant staff. Desk is manned 24 hours and they speak excellent English. The Italian restaurant next door is pretty good and has excellent selection of German beers. Overall, it was a great stay and would definitely stay there again. Great inclusive breakfast!! The only draw back was that the bed was extremely uncomfortable and the street noise was a bit excessive in the morning and early evening. Due to not having ac, we had to keep the windows open for cooling in August.

Very pleasant place to stay. Staff helpful and courteous. Rooms clean and well equipped. Good breakfast buffet in the morning. Good location for visiting the Altstadt One thing to look out for - on entering from the street, a flight of 5 or 6 steps down with no handrail, which one could miss seeing and have a nasty fall. Possibly a hazard especially for older people or those whose eyesight isn't the best and which would also prevent use by guests with limited mobility. Also a tiny elevator (lift) which can only just hold 2 people with luggage.

This hotel's location in the centre of historic old Salzburg is it's greatest asset. Another very good feature is the excellent breakfast. The single bedrooms are desperately small; mine was cluttered up with 6 pieces of "traditional" Tyrolean furniture, plus the smallest and most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. The bathroom was also small and gloomy. The hotel may be quaint and have some charm, but it is certainly not worthy of any 4 star grading, by international standards.

The majority of the staff we very friendly and helpfull, it was in a great location, had easy access to the hotel facilities and the Italian restaurant adjacent to the hotel. Room 102 was the room we were allocated and it was quite small, the entrance to the room was also a wash area with the bathroom sink on the left as you enter the room and the shower & toilet was behind the door in a seperate room, which was very small. There was then a sliding door to enter the bedroom area. I would not say it was a very spacious room, and was expecting it to be smarter, however it served it's purpose.

Clean, quiet, good central location, pleasant breakfast area. There was no safe in the room which was unusual for a 4 star hotel. And no personnel to help with the luggage - had to squeeze it myself into a rather small and outdated elevator. Same with the departure - the reception was helpful in ordering a taxi but no help with the luggage was available.

We loved the Alstadhotel Kaserbrau. The staff are all very friendly and make you feel right at home from the time you walk in the door. This is a beautiful old hotel situated just below the gorgeous white Hohensalzburg Castle. We stayed in a very comfortable suite which was tastefully decorated to fit with the style of the hotel. Breakfast was included in our rate. European style breakfast including boiled eggs, scrambled, bacon. sausages, cheeses, breads, cold meats, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juices etc etc. Really lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Salzburg without hesitation.

This is an ideally located hotel with charm; quiet but near to shops and local bars and restaurants. Not flashy but the prices compare well to other city hotels (E.G. London). We had a lovely family break here; the apartment was spacious and had a great view of the fortress. Staff are efficient and helpful. Overall, an enjoyable stay and would recommend to other travellers who prefer a more individual styled hotel rather than dull chains!! My only complaint was that the breakfast buffet area is cramped so be prepared to jostle and queue for hot drinks and food in the morning if you're there when its busy. Having said that staff worked hard to replenish the buffet selection and turn tables around quickly, to minimise delays.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for touring the old city center of Salzburg. The breakfast (included in room price) is great in a cozy dining room. The room was comfortable, clean, and afforded a great view of the mountains. We have stayed here many times and will continue to do so.

Good location. Clean. Staff friendly and helpful. The first room we were given was not big enough for us and our suitcases but we were given a room twice the size when we asked for something bigger. We had booked a superior room for 4 nights so not sure what happened there. All good in the end.

This hotel is located in walking distance of virtually all of the things I wanted to visit in Salzburg. The hotel front desk staff were more than helpful in locating things I knew about, & in suggesting places that I hadn't thought of. The breakfast was fantastic, & more complete than any I've seen. The total lack of English by the maid was frustrating at times, but she did her job very well.

It was O.K. for what I paid. Good breakfast. Clean bathroom. Nice shower with lots of hot water and a bath. Comfortable beds. There was lots of dust on the light fittings. A light bulb wasn't working by the bedside. No tea making facilities. The staff were not really engaging with any of my party. I felt they didn't really want to bother talking and trying to answer our questions. The literature in the hotel was very limited for english guests. Didn't even bother to say goodbye when we left althougth they had an opportunity when they did book a cab without charge. The pillows were pointless in having, extremely lumpy, hardly any filling. Could offer a english channel apart from the news on the television. Put a clock in the rooms. I would stay again but would take my own kettle.
