The Palais Hotel Erzherzog Johann is in the heart of the historic quarter of Graz, in the immediate vicinity of the main square. Free Wi-Fi is provided.
Score from 613 reviews Very good
Our room had a view of the castle, which was nice. Also, the windows opened for fresh, cooler air.
If we go back to Graz we will stay on a main street. The location was OK, but there were people milling around in front of the hotel that you wouldn't find in the more commercial/tourist areas. Also, the first morning there was no hot water and the internet was out, end on the business center, for most of the three days we were there. We will not go back to this Mercure.
- 5 min walk to the city center
- Arrived at 2 pm, receptionist told I had to wait until 3 pm (I was really tired after 2 flights). I did so waiting in the lobby. Meanwhile several other guests arrived and they did not have to wait and checked in. And I waited and waited until 3 pm. The first receptionist abandoned the desk after I started my complaints to her colleague. Very very professional ... - Room cleaning was poor (I stayed 7 nights) - Knowing other hotels in Graz after several visits, I have to say this one was easily the worst
The rooms are clean and comfortable.
Breakfast is not includes in the price.
Nice hotel large room good breackfast friendly stuff
Parking cost 15 euro for hotel geusts 7.5 euro for same parking garage for Ibis geusts???
There is a lot to eat at breakfast, but for someone who only wants coffee and a croissant 15€ per person is expensive. WIFI in the room was virtually inaccessible, so impossible to work from there (It was very annoying, even if we got a compensation).
Friendly staff Good breakfast Close to downtown (15 min. walk)
Good value for money. Clean spacious room, and very friendly staff. The locationn is in a nice area of Graz, lots of nice bars and reataurants nearby. City Centre is walkable if you don't mind walking a bit. Public transport is also ok.
Location was fairly close to the city center. A 15 min walk to the train station. Room prices were reasonable.
Breakfast seemed expensive for what was available.
View from the window, quiet location
Staff,, cleanliness, bathroom, location in the center of Graz...everything was perfect.
The only thing we don't like is room cleaning at 4pm. We'd just come back from sightseeing and spread our legs on the bed when a maid came in our room to do room cleaning. So we should have got out from the room although we were tired.
In general everything was fine, breakfast was good. The hotel is close to the main train station (3 stations by bus). The bus station is right in front of the hotel. A supermarket is very close to the hotel.
Very bad wifi, in the room it almost didnt work, i could hardly open internet pages. For skyping i had to go out to the hall, where the internet was good. The pillow was very small and thin. Not very close to the main shops, restaurants and citysights (like Landtag or Rathaus), walking there might take 15-20 min.
Hotel is across the old town and within walking distance. Our triple room is really spacious and clean. Beds are comfortable and the extra bed is a comfortable sofa bed big enough for two . We had complimentary drinks (juices, beers and bottled water) from the mini fridge. Parking is available at the hotel for 15 euros. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly and their service efficient . ( In fact we found Austrians to be extremely helpful , courteous and friendly and we are glad to be able to experience their hospitality during this trip.) There is a small market place selling fruits and vegetables across the front of the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this hotel and will definitely stay in the same hotel if we return to Graz.
That we didn't stay longer.
Excellent location, close to train station and bus stops 10 min walk to old town Daily market in square opposite Safe walking at night Walk to restaurants and bars On the bus route to laundromat
Shower over bath
Room is very nice and clean. Breakfast is also very good. Garage is below hotel and it is very easy to reach any floor in hotel, from garage.
thanx for the nice stay!
nice rooms, friendly staff
way to room not very nice, like parkgarage, price without breakfast
A spacious room, clean & new. Location is ok, around 15 mins walk to shopping & tourist area. Open-area food stalls & cafés & supermarket are nearby
Wifi connection is very poor inside the room. We often had to put our phones in different area inside the room in order to re-connect.
Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent location, Good restaurants close by. Farmers market very close by.
More pillows. But that's minor. A very nice hotel indeed
The location is ideal for visiting Graz. The breakfast is good and the rooms are nice
My room was in a corner, so had no Wireless Network at my room
Excellent location, quiet place, clean - just everything you can expect from Mercure.
Useful secure parking under hotel
Everything is perfect. Nice location, room, internet speed, and very good breakfast at this price!
There is several steps from elevator to my room. And my baggage is a little heavy.... The WIFI is weak at the end of the building. But the stuff change my room to the center of the building. Everything is fine.
Location was good for a short walk into the main town
Beds are really uncomfortable, rooms get very hot. No iron available
This is a good place to be if you are a busy person who will be out and about. It's not going to give you 'the holiday of a lifetime'; if you are not going far from the hotel and want a luxury experience you need to look elsewhere. It's a good environment to come back to at the end of a busy day.
The beds are comfortable, but they were also hot! Are they tempur mattresses? I found myself waking up every night about 2.30-3.30 am.
Room was spacious and fulfilled the needs of a family with cleanliness and furniture.
There could have been bigger cups for coffee. Breakfast was way too expensive. The elevator system was weird.
