The muffin hostel is way out from the city centre of Salzburg, and
poorly connected. It isn´t even a hostel all year round, but a student´s
dorm that gets converted into hostel during summer vacation. The staff
are young people mostly from eastern Europe, presumably because they
would be willing to work for the least of money. They apparently do not
have either training or experience in the accomodation service industry.
In fact, the muffin hostel offers zero service at rip-off prices. Want
to come to Salzburg at the festival time? - this is what you get: 110+ €
for the double room, barely kept clean, unironed sheets on an untidy
bed, no elevator, no breakfast, no service. Voilá - enjoy your stay! If
you want to do yourself a favour - stay away from Salzburg, at least
during festival time. I had to come because of business; otherwise, for
around 50.- € you can usually find a decent clean room in a nice private
B&B in most places and areas in Austria, where the inhabitants are
not yet only busying themselves with ripping off tourists. Transfer and
visit Salzburg by train, bus, whatever - if you must.
