We arrived in Vienna to discover that our reservation would not be honored at this location. The "hotel" sent us to another hotel that was in Spittelberg. They told us that they would "only" charge us the same amount for the new hotel room that we were to pay them for our initial reservation. When I checked online I found out that comparable rooms at the new hotel were substantially less expensive. I cannot speak to the condition of the rooms, but if you want to stay at a hotel that will honor your reservation or treat you fairly in the event of a problem, then look elsewhere. Thankfully, Booking.com handled the issue promptly and insured that we were not charged for the hotel's cancellation/failure to provide us with the advertised accommodations. No explanation was given for the failure to honor the reservation.
Double bed consisted of two single beds
Extremely well positioned for visitor attractions/restuarants/bars and Christmas market. Good view from the small balcony Room was warm and had a good shower.
Very Hard Bed. No kettle in the room
Location (walking distance - city center & public transportation)) Staff Architecture Breakfast
the location is very good, the staff were very welcoming, and the rooms were nice
Looking out over the rooftops from our 3rd floor room, I really feet like I was in Vienna! The hotel is perfectly located in Museum District right on 2 subway lines. Whether you love it or dislike it depends on what you expect from a hotel, but personally I thought it was great, with helpful staff and a great value for the money. Do not expect an American-style hotel or luxury features, but it is comfortable. I found that the old-world ambiance added greatly to our enjoyment of the trip.
It was my second stay there, great Viennese athmosphere, most helpful staff, the best location in City center, just great!
Nothing at all.
I really liked the old fashioned style of this hotel with its high ceilings, big windows and parquet floors.
The bed was very hard.
The Staff members were very nice and helpful. As you have the key of your room and of the building in case you come back late after a meeting you feel really at home. Great place. The room are big and very nicely furnished. I Would definitely recommend it.
Lovely spacious room, great breakfast
Not easy to find, better have a good gps! One small plaque, then in to a staircase up a few flights to find a buzzer....
Run down property. Clogged drains, dirty rooms. Unfriendly, unhelpful staff. Unsafe - not staffed at night. WiFi signal not strong enough to work in rooms.
Great location, beautiful, large comfortable room with 2 balconies and lovely combination of modern and traditional furnishings, good buffet selection, 24hour coffee/tea self-service, free wireless - feels like home ;))
Close proximity to Museums and a short walk to main attractions. Many restaurants in the vicinity. Friendly host and staff and good breakfasts to start the day. Tea and coffee available. In the dining area all day.
Beds were on the hard side of firm, but apparently we could have asked for different mattresses. We only found that out on last day.
Location was excellent close to many sights and the main shopping streets. Good views from the 3rd floor "balcony" over the city. Large room.
There is probably some sort of issues with moisture/mould in the old building, at least the smell on staircase indicated that. The room was very basic, and not so cosy. The walls are very thin, without almost any sound isolation. The shower did not soak the water very well. Breakfast was ok, but there wasn't anything warm foods, so it wasn't so nice when you stay longer.
The hotel is located in a quiet street just off Museum Quarter and within walking distance from Vienna's old city. Many attractions, shopping, restaurants nearby, a U train station very close. Clean, big rooms, breakfast was included and was good.
There was a clog in the bathroom, seems like an ongoing problem.
Our room was huge and beautifully appointed. We really felt like we were visiting the city in 1900. The breakfast spread had ample selection, and coffee was available until 10pm each night. The location was absolutely perfect, right across from the MuseumsQuartier and the Volkstheater U-Bahn, with all the lovely, affordable restaurants and cafes of Spittelberg/Neubau at our doorstep. Ten-minute walk to the University and most sites in the Innerstadt.
The shower was open, which was pleasant, but it did mean that water got all over the bathroom floor. We like a firm bed, but this one was maybe a touch too firm.
Dark, musty smelling entrance and stairwells of building - definitely mold in building. Poor lighting in stairwells with sensors that did not work reliably - we had safety concerns at night. Elevator smelt of urine and rug on floor dirty. Room on 3rd floor so had to use either smelly elevator or stairs. Rapid-fire introduction by manager on check-in at 6pm on a Sunday; seemed in a hurry and not interested. Room - large, clean but uninviting; musty smell, no AC or fan; no bar fridge, old dirty drink glasses; broken TV remote, snowy TV reception; no seating other than single desk chair. Bathroom - very poor lighting, one tiny bar soap for two people, sink design meant water always splashed onto floor, shower drain plugged. Having traveled in many parts of the world and stayed in all sorts of accommodation in the past 25 years, this is the first time I have felt so uncomfortable in a hotel that I had to leave and find other lodgings for the duration of my stay in Vienna.
The service was wonderful. They even did our online checkin for our next day flights for us
The wi fi did not work the entire time we were there. The lift is a little dodge. Alarm lights sounding most of the time we used it
Staff is nice and helpful, breakfast is good.
It is hard to find it and looks not a real hotel. The bed quality is poor.
little difficult to locate. track it on the map before heading towards it. the cabbie will take you for a spin otherwise.
First I had troubles with the WiFi and my Laptop, then I had a little accident and at the end a transport problem. Lucky me, at the Hotel Pension Museum the staff was in every Situation very supportive. I really can recommend this Hotel!
Good location, nice atmosphere, good breakfast, efficient wifi, comfortable room
Noise from the street due to old windows
The Manager and staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The room was large, comfortable and well-equipped. with very a comfortable bed. The room was very quiet, although overlooking the street and close to dining area. The generous breakfast was very fresh with a tasty selection. We appreciated the 24-hour availability of tea and coffee (self-service) in the dining room. The hotel is a minute's walk from the Volkstheater U-bahn, trams and buses and is opposite the Museum Quarter complex, close to the Ringstrasse and many other tourist sites.
Although the shower floor was non-slip we would have appreciated a hand grip. Otherwise everything was to our complete satisfaction.
Clean Really Friendly staff Next to the Underground, next to museum quartier and other historical sightseeing.
The reception is inside a locked door and you may not be able to find the staff when you need them (not a 24/7 reception). Yet the breakfast is rather poor for a hotel of that range.
The breakfast was lovely, location could not be faulted, staff where lovely and so helpful. Great power shower in the bathroom. Value for money; definately. Despite the few negative's i've written I would stay again without a second thought. Many thanks!
The sofa bed was uncomfortable (maybe get a single bed for this massive room) and we had no wi-fi on the third floor which was a shame. The bathroom smelt of smoke which was a bit gross and a shame as the room was furnished very nicely.
