Very good value, ideally suited to business travellers who just need a simple B&B without the frills. Typically high Austrian standards of cleanliness. Mini-bar was an unexpected and welcome addition at the price. Staff happy to do early breakfasts. Sufficient local bars and restaurants. Although room was on the busy Alser Strasse there was no noise at night. Effective heating and double-glazing. Wi-fi worked well.
The modern trend for wooden floors in hotel rooms, but that's not unique to this hotel.
Excellent location to visit city center, good wifi.
No idea how this place managed to get a 4 star rating. Breakfast was poor, room was small and not nice, really not up to 4 star standard. Housekeeping barged into my room before check-out time whilst I was changing. They should at least wait for check-out time before entering guests' rooms!
The location is good, not to far from the center. The single room was large, with confortable bed. The breakfast was nice, even if you have only what you can find in many other pensions / hôtels (2types of cheese, 2 types of ham, some fruits, cereals,...), I mean nothing exceptionnal for a so-called 4 star pension.
The noise ! Not the noise from the pension but the noise from the street ! My room was not on the main street (Alser Strasse) but on a side street, however I could hear all the tramways. So, bring your ear plugs ...or ask for a room not on the street ! The first night I think I scratched a bit and there was some blood on the bedsheets. The cleaning lady did not remove them on the next morning even if she saw the blood : she just put the sheets upside down ! The toilets had a problem (almost constant running water) and was never fixed. The last day I could not shower properly : a part got broken while I was taking my shower and I got the whole things into 2 parts. I said it to the receptionist when I paid. She wrote down the problems but did not seem to care much : not even a "we are sorry". Actually, once I paid she did not care about me anymore, just was already doing something else and I had to say bye to get an answer. Some of the receptionnists were very nice, some others not very enthusiastic. The wifi connection was weird sometimes. Even if my room was not far from the reception, I got disconnected several times. All together, it is not a bad pension but definitely not a 4 star one !!!
They allow us to check in very early. We got there very early so we can have some nap before visiting vienna
Distance from city centre(10 min walk from Rathouse), price, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast
Noisy room near tram stop and old windows.
Good location 10 mins walk from metro station schottentor, friendly staff, clean room and bathroom.
Poor internet connection, poor amounts and diversity of breakfast. Though my stay was in September but the the room was a bit hot in the afternoon and I believe that hotel is not recommended in summer! How could this hotel be 4 starred without AC?!
The Lift & adequate breakfast
My room faced the street & was very noisy with trams & traffic. As a result I slept with closed windows & the heat was pretty unbearable. I would request a quieter back room next time.
All essentials: location, cleanliness, service, etc
Lighting rather dim, old fashioned bathroom translated into limited shelf space.
situation in front of the university
only german channels
First of all in my opinion this is not a 4 star pension.Except the location, nothing is good and nice about this place.Rooms are without air conditioned, very noisy (because of the poor windows and lack of carpets on the hallway),bathroom fittings broken, the shower screen doors broken, bare floors in the room, bulbs missing, the door lock destroyed and instead of using a card as for the other doors,we had a key fitted ,breakfast very poor, but on top of all these inconveniences we had some personal stuff removed and missing from our room.Someone from the staff entered our room even though on the door was a ''no disturbing'' sign and we had told the cleaning lady we don't need the room to be done.Even after reporting to the reception we didn't get not even apologies from the manager who just ignored us.It was a nightmare! We couldn't wait to leave the place and NEVER come back!
good location nice staff nothing missing close to Altes AKH
very loud: rooms facing tram tracks
Location is good, close to center and with trams available at the door. Secure parking available.
Breakfast was good but limited. Rooms to be renovated for a 4 stars hotels.
Location Breakfast Not good for family
- Location - tram stop outside or 20 minute walk to town and just along from the Votive Church.
- No air-con - big issue as it was so hot - Kept windows open but no air flow - Construction would start at 6am - Breakfast was standard but not much choice especially with dietary requirements - Had to change pillows twice as the first two needed throwing away - Layout of bathroom was not great with no space for the toilet and right next to shower opening - 49Euro per night was not worth it
Location Rooms are comfortable in general. Good breakfast. Convenient price.
Very noisy No air conditioning or fans, very hot in the summer. Refrigerator did not work
Nice rooms, good lobby bar
Laundry is expensive
wonderful location, near city center and schottentor metro station. Good services Very good price
The room was hot, had to sleep with the window completely open. In less hot periods this problem won't be.
location could not be better good value for money building with charme
street is noisy, try to get a quiet room some elements in the bathroom were a bit shaky
clean room and location
Cheap hotel, Clean rooms, Good location.
Very bad WiFi signal, No AC in the room !!! Also, this pension is far from being 4 stars.
The location is great and the hotel is clean. the staff was polite and helpful, i was late for check out and they were really understanding and nice. wifi is fine and there are 2 comp in hall. i have many dislikes to point to, but in fact, under same circumstances (one night, nice weather, fair price), I would stay there again
the place needs a major renovation, ASAP, the toilet was rusty, the towels are shabby. ask for one more pillow per person because what thay give you, thats not a pillow. the breakfast - no eggs, just one type of cheese so its worth your Money just if you make some sendwiches "to go" (secretly), like I did :D . and the rooms dont have any ventilation, so in summer that could really be a problem.
everything. Breakfast was pothetic.
Close to public transportation and to the city center
Noisy room, poor breakfast, difficult wifi access
Proximity to the center
Attitude of staff (when booking we asked for a quiet room and got one facing crossing of 2 tram lines, and when we checked out after first night, very rude staff Maria tried to make us pay for all 3 booked days), very noisy location, small and basic room and breakfast
Facing extremely loud street with street construction work going on every night from 10pm to 4am, combined with heat and lack of air conditioning making it impossible to get any sleep.
