Hotel Scherer    

M'ha agradat la situació prop de l'estació i no gaire lluny del centre, que és el que buscàvem.

No respon a la categoria de 4 estrelles. Els serveis són deficients. Per pagar la factura ens van dir que no acceptaven targetes de crèdit encara que al final la van acceptar.

Quite and Spacious rooms. Very Fiendly staff and close proximity to Hbf. Break fast was typical european and was quite good options in bread.

Wifi isn't Free. You need to cough up 10 Eur for 24 hrs or 2 Eur for 2 hours. While all other hotels offer this service free, this needs to be improved.

excellent hotel

Situated close to the main HBF station, the breakfast buffet was nice, with plenty of choice, the hotel is very clean if not slightly dated in terms of its decor but had a charm to it which we liked, its a ten minute walk into town, there are hotels that are closer in centre, but it was cheap and had a lot more personality than a travelodge type franchise.

No free Wi-fi, always feel this should be free.

The staff was very helpful. The room was nicely equipped and was very cozy.

while its out of the centre, bus access is good and its a nice walk to the old town, even in winter. and walking distance to the station with luggage.

Since we are heading for an early train departing Salzburg, the hotel's prime location to the train station is just good for us. Also it is of comfortable walking distance to tourist spots. Breakfast is good and staff are extremely helpful. I have requested for separate beds and they even allow me to choose from various layouts of rooms and beds to suit my needs.

Smoking is allowed in the small bar area at the G/F lobby area. The bad smell of smoke just went up to the 1st and 2nd floor where I and my friends stay. I wish the whole hotel could be smoke free since it is not a very big hotel. Also it would be better if free wifi is provided, although it is not very expensive at the price of 3Euro for 4 hours.

People in the hotel were very friendly ,the room was nice and clean,it also had a good restaurant and a good location. ]

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Scherer. The staff were all very nice & helpful. The hotel is just a short walk from the train station which is very convenient.

We stayed at 8 different hotels in 5 countries and the Scherer was easily the best hotel experience of our 5 week trip. The staff were so helpful, nothing was a bother and we felt very welcome. A comprehensive breakfast was included in the price and we had dinner at the hotel as well which was very reasonably priced for the quality and service.

Quiet residential location less than 10 minutes walk from the main railway station. Easy tram ride into the city centre from the end of the road - the same route connects to the airport and the Hbf. Well appointed and comfortable rooms, a varied and generous breakfast selection, and great staff.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Hotel and would recommend it whole heartedly we only stayed one night but wish we had more time to devote to this area of Germany. While it is called a Hotel it in my mind has all the advantages of a bed and breakfast. It is a delightful old hotel with all of the period furnishings that make these kinds of places so warm. We had a very nice breakfast included in the reasonable room rate and locked parking which was refreshingly not an extra charge. If you desire to eat in the restaurant in the evening the meal was excellent and reasonably priced. Although get there early because some items are just not available because they were popular and are just gone.

A few miner inconveniences should be noted: No central air conditioning and some fans in the rooms whould have been nice. This is probably not a big problem most of the year but it was August and hot. No wifi or internet access of any kind--- for one night not a big inconvenience but it would have been nice to catch up on email. The only other down side was because of the lack of air conditioning we needed the window open and whether it was just a weekend or whether people on the street who have been drinking are always that loud is not clear. (To be fair it was Saturday night and there was a wine tasting festival on tap)

A wonderful hotel that is family-run and very friendly. We had a great time with Christof who makes a great Aperol Sprizz and enjoyed the good family made cuisine that was typical of Austria. Would certainly recommend this hotel to others and will stay here again one day.

Hotel advertised as updated yet our rooms where not updated. Too far from centre of city

Nice restaurant and very good buffet breakfast. Staff very helpful with advice on where to go etc Good location within walking distance of main rail station.

We had a problem with our room regarding ventilation in bathroom. We didn't want to create a fuss by asking to be moved to another room during the first night so waited till morning.In the morning we complained and were given another room. Because it had been quite unpleasant we expected not to be charged for that first night.However,when paying our bill on departure we were told that because we had booked with Booking.com. We had to pay in full.A Very inflexible receptionist reluctantly agreed that in lieu we didn't have to pay a small bar food bill of approx 30 euro. Apart from this unpleasant experience we would recommend this as a reasonably good budget hotel.

The receptionist on the day we checked out was very apologetic about the service we had recieved as we arrived.

The hotel is extremely dated and very expensive - poor value for money. OUr welcome to the hotel was the worst we have ever encountered. On arrival the receptionist was ill mannered and rude - refusing to acknowledge our presence and later was extremely rude to my husband. It almost became a Fawlty Towers scenario when the children watched the Sound of Music for 2 hours (with us being in Salzburg) only to find that the DVD misses out the last half hour!!! Aparently other people in the hotel were watching it too and there was no way that they could be interrupted in thier viewing. A triviality I know - but compounded with the start of our stay only added to the situation. Breakfast was ok.

The front desk staff were friendly

The room was tiny, location farther from the center then expected, a cleaning lady helped herself into our room in the morning demanding we leave in spite of the fact that it was 30 minutes before check out, we were told we had parking and it was ok to take the car out, when we came back there were no spaces, we were told it was ok to park in the street, but we needed to feed the meter, in the morning it turned out they didn't charge on the weekends, so we could have slept in. I could never recommend this place to anyone. I can not believe it is a four star hotel.
