Location, deluxe room Restaurant staff very unprofessional ! The level of services is not higher than 3 stars and watch out for the 5 or 6 course "Menu Surprise". The value of the check that you will sign at the end of the dinner will not be final check ! The " surprise" will come at check out were you will find on the invoice also an half board price wich will be added to your check from last night ! They told you it's a " Menu Surprise " .

We loved the town and the setting. We also thought the hotel itself was quite charming. We found the restaurant to be only fair. We thought the beds were dated in decor and not particularly comfortable at all! We would recommend this hotel only because of the setting in the town and as a get away from the city.

It was a wonderful location for a honeymoon. We enjoyed all aspects of Hotel Schloss Durnstein. Romantic, quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The bed, it would have been good to of had one mattress as the bed not separate mattresses together.

Probably my best hotel experience ever (I travel about 15 % of my time and have done so for several years - I have lived in four countries and visited more than 50, so I have seen my share of hotels). The location is fantastic, service is great, the place is extremely tasteful - nothing like the bland, uniform mass of business hotels around the world. It is comparable to the Portuguese Pousadas in tastefulness and charm, but more lively, less museum-like than those, and with better cuisine. In a country with such poor culinary traditions as Austria, the fish dishes at Schloss Dürnstein were a delightful surprise - they seemingly have a very talented fish cook, who prepares delicate, modern, light and creative fish dishes. The meat dishes were still on the heavy, Austrian side, though. The meat dishes in the restaurant were a bit on the heavy, traditional, Austrian side (as opposed to the fish dishes, which were up to high international standards).

We wanted to get away for a few days after a stressful time, and Hotel Schloss Durnstein was perfect. The ambience, views from the terrace and our room, and indoor swimming pool, the town and opportunities for hiking were just what we needed. I look forward to returning. Thank you! Everything was wonderful! My one area which could improve-- the quality of the dinners were good, but could improve. The ambience of sitting on the terrace overlooking the Danube unforgetable.

“Like in a fairy tale” The location of hotel is great - on the river Danube. Amazing hotel looks like a postcard. Is packed with antiques and art. There are two pools, one inside, one out. Our room was palatial, with a plate of fruit that welcomed us, huge bathroom. Window at our room opened up to one of the prettiest vistas I can remember along the Danube. The buffet breakfast was excellent. I'll remember this breakfast for my whole life! We dined at the terrace restaurant. The meals at dinner were tasty, and the service was really good. We met here one waiter from Bratislava and thats was great. Some of the finest dining we’ve experienced, for real foodies. There was dishes from local mushrooms, we have tasted. The town is just charming! We would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling for luxury past.

We enjoyed everything at this hotel. The friendliness of the staff. The beautiful setting. The marvellous food & the wonderful indoor pool area. A little too warm in the bedroom, a fan would be good.

Very nice location, nicely decorated both in the room or other premises (lobby, dining room, bar). Staff kind and helpfull, especially by the dinner - they prepared us a meal out of the menu - exactly as we demanded, very promptly, reasonable priced. Wellness also very nice. technical facilities in the room - I can accept the fact that air- conditioning in the rooms probably would damage the historical style of the building. In fact - Lower Austria does not have so many tropic days in summer. But I do not see any reason that there is no minibar in the room.

A beautiful hotel in a very picturesque town (which does, unfortunately, gets a huge number of visitors - admittedly, we were 2 of them). Excellent breakfast buffet. Professional and friendly staff. It was all good. No air-con means the rooms can be very warm in hot weather, but the fabric of the building probably doesn't allow for air-con while maintaining the feel of the place, so I think they've made the right choice.

This castle hotel is more impressive on the inside than outside - and the outside is lovely! Some rooms are larger than others with higher ceilings, others may be smaller but have more windows or nicer views. In short, all the rooms are unique and ambient and one very much feels that they are staying in a castle. Every space is kept immaculately, with attention to detail in every cosy nook and cranny. The bar and foyer areas are lovely places to sit and enjoy a drink, and the spa area is a fully-equipped wellness area. The castle's location on the Danube in the heart of the Wachau region means that the whole experience of staying here is charming. The breakfast room and terrace are ideally located to enjoy a long leisurely breakfast. Staff are friendly and obliging. All in all, the castle well deserves its Relaix & Chateau status. Would check in again at the first available opportunity.

The Schloss has been cleverly adapted as a hotel and sits right on the Danube at the end of the street in this mystical village. It reeks atmosphere and takes one back to distant times past, but with all the modern facilities. Our suite was large overlooking the river and we were fascinated by the barges and cruise vessels as they battled their way upstream or glided rapidly downstream. The view across the river is of a seemingly timeless village nestled in the valley. It is simply a delight to have a snack, drink or dinner on the terrace above the fast flowing waters. The restaurant is exceptional for all meals and service courteous prompt and efficient. Parking is available in the private courtyard for no charge. We will return for a longer stay to give us the time to explore surrounding countryside and villages and simply to absorb the enchanting atmosphere.
