Location, staff and the food
We were greeted by a very warm and kind receptionist. Views are truly magnificent. Room itself was clean and nice. Hotel allows dogs of any size so that is also a plus fro them.
Hotel advertises their pool, and we were really looking forward to having a swim, but as we checked in at 19.15 we were told that pool only works until 18.45. This was a big disappointment for us. It doesn't make sense to have a pool working only until 18.45 when most people go to Gerlitzen in summer time on hiking trips and not to stay inside. After a long hiking trip during the day pool should be open at least until 23.00. We came in June, but it was still cold. Heating in our room was not working, so it was cold, and we had to ask for an electric heather to warm up. Then we discovered that hair fan was not working. Hotel also advertises free WiFi in every room, which is not true. We had virtually no signal in our room, except in one place where we had to stand up and hold precisely that position as any movement resulted in complete loss of signal. Even in that spot it wasn't working well. They probably placed one AP on each floor at best, and call it WiFi in every room, which is simply not true. If you need Internet access during your trip, be extra careful with this. Hotel parking was full, both below and above the hotel, so we had to squeeze in with our car. Views are truly magnificent, but if you take a room with a balcony your view will be hindered by a thick metal rods of the railing which negates the complete experience when you sit down. They charge extra for rooms with balcony. Instead they should put clear glass fence. Buffet breakfast was well below average for a 4* hotel. Their selection was rather modest. But the biggest and most unpleasant surprise was when we came for breakfast and wanted to take an empty table as is customary in all hotels we have been so far (and that is quite a lot). We were told sternly by the hostess that we cannot sit where we like, and she showed us to a specific not really nice table, while all other tables but one, were empty!?!
The location and the view.
1) the hotel allows dogs on its premisses: Urlaub mit Hunden. However, they don't go to end of the process, as they concentrate all dogs in a small area, where the floor is not covered by a carpet. This is creating issues between the dogs and uneasy meals. Instead of giving more room to the dogs, as this hotel organises stays with dogs, the hotel staff suggests that the guests go in the closed smoking area. 2) the hotel prohibits guests to take their breakfast on the terrace. 3) the hotel imposes the choice of the tables for the breakfast. 4) the wi-fi connection is too weak. 5) the restaurant opening hours are between 6 and 8 pm, which is too early. Conclusion: we had selected this hotel because it makes its advertisement on this. However, I will never choose this formula again as you're freer in standard hotels just accepting dogs.
Great accomodation, food, location...
WI-FI requires login and password every 10 minutes. Annoying!!!
Very tasty dinner.
No slippers available so you have to bring your own. Pool and sauna close too early (at 18.45). Breakfast starts too late (at 8.00) so you can not be on the slopes at 8.30.
Clean, silent, cosy
Bad logistics if no car
location, facilities (especially play-room for kids)
dogs, perhaps because we did not know about the Austrian style of being so close to the dogs, which one could see everywhere in the hotel and surroundings
