Altstadt Hotel Stadtkrug  

The breakfast was excellent. Lots of fresh fruit, great variety of bread and cheese. Friendly and prompt staff.

The room was beautiful and very clean, and sizable too. The bathroom was huge and had a lovely big bath in it. The location of the hotel is second to none also - so close to everything; Mozart's houses, Landes Theatre.. Parking is not far away, also convenient.

The lady at reception was very hostile and not interested at all in helping us. She gave us directions to the theatre and sent us to the wrong one. Other than the service, everything else was excellent. **The foyer and corridors smell of cigarette smoke because people are allowed to smoke there.

We loved this hotel. It was the first of two hotels we stayed in on this break. I had reservations about staying in such an old (almost 700 years) hotel; and before the trip I was looking forward to the other - contemporary - hotel more. I couldnt have been more wrong. The Hotel Stadkrug had charm, character and was more like a home from home. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. This experience has changed how will arrange accomodation in future.

The city is spectacular! The hotel is incredible. What a wonderful place to stay in such a busy city. My children were right at home and able to walk around the place, always being helped by the wonderful hotel team. Breakfast was fantastic and gave us the right start in a busy day. There is nothing negative to say and we give the hotel all the stars in the tourist world!!!!

The Altstadt is an outstandingly good boutique hotel which is particularly valuable in Salzburg where you should stay in the Altstadt not the outskirts! Location is brilliant,facilities are good and design features provide an attractive ambience.Hugo ( the owner/manager) is so helpful he is worth 10% of the admission price

Easy to find (after helpful Salzburg bus driver helped). Friendly and helpful staff with good English to counter my bad German. Lift to all floors. Room was fine. Hotel is full of character and really easy to get to Aldstadt, Mirabell Gardens, Mozart house, in fact - pretty much all salzburg central locations. Breakfast was cold meats, chees and good scrambled eggs. Free internet. Bar had local lager on tap and bar staff looked in on us frequently whilst attending to other duties. All in all, really enjoyed it here and it was a good price. Thanks hotel Stadtkrug.

Its location is good so easy to get out of the main market platz and walk to this hotel.

The place is too old seems like and smells of some food the entire hotel. But the reception was quite helpful, though the internet is free but the wi fi is vey bad and u dont get connection in your room at all and they give u some lame excuse every time. Good thing for an early breakfast they packed us something in the night itself as we left early morning and had called us for a taxi which was on time to leave @5 am.

The Hotel Stadtkrug was a great experience. The historic 700 year old building is located in the edge of the Old City of Salzburg making it a convenient location for shopping and visting the Castle/ Fortress accessible from the Old City. The hotel has been nicely updated. Modern bathroom facilities and nice extra "touches". The restaurant is excellent also. Parking is really not a problem; it is a short 5 minute walk to the city garage, and only an intolerant person would find fault with the arrangement. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. They offered to arrange a hotel pick-up for the "Sound of Music Tour". Highly recommended for a different experience than what an American might be familiar with.
