Hotel Am StephansplatzStephansplatz 9, 01. Innere Stadt, 1010 Vienna (Show map)
Wonderful,
Score from 219 reviews
“ We stayed in a junior suite with a view of Stephansplatz. It was spacious, spotlesslessly clean and the view was superb. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was also excellent, with the usual continental offerings, but you could also order a cooked breakfast if you so wished. ”

Best location & the best view in town. Beds. Large bed is two beds combined, which keep separating, and you have to push them back every now and then.

Location of the hotel was perfect for us; very friendly staff The bar area could have been more of a lounge; only tables and chairs to sit at and no sofas/soft seating.

Its location, right in the shadow of St Stephans Cathedral and right next to the underground. Nice modern rooms The staff were a bit aloof all round and not very friendly. The breakfast area has a separate smoking area which has a door to stop the smoke from getting into the food area, when we tried( a few times) to close the door between the two areas the staff kept opening the door and the smoke just came through making it a smoking breakfast room after all. At checkout we were charged for biscuits we never ate and when we queried it and told them we had not eaten any biscuits, the receptionist told us that she did not charge us when in fact she already did and just could not be bothered to take it off the bill.

The location is perfect. Our room on the 5th floor looked directly across the square at St. Stephansdom. Everything of interest was within easy walking distance. There is a u stop right outside the door. Staff were very helpful making dinner reservations over Christmas weekend and offering sightseeing tips. We were able to switch to a more preferable room with a view without hassle. The art work throughout the hotel was stunning. The breakfasts were excellent with ample variety for a multiple- day stay, and the dining room was very comfortable and pleasant. The room we booked- a junior suite-had no view, and we would not have been happy staying there, but we were able to switch to a room with a spectacular view. Be sure your room has a view of St. Stephansdom.

The breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was also excellent, with the usual continental offerings, but you could also order a cooked breakfast if you so wished. Not much, although I would say that we did not use the sitting room very much, because it had a sleeper sofa and some pretty uncomfortable upright chairs and table in the middle of the room. So there were no comfortable armchairs or somewhere to relax after a long day of sightseeing. This was a pity because this was the room that overlooked the square.

The hotel is undoubtedly in a very convenient location. The room was adequate in size, in fact the bathroom was rather spacious with a separate shower and bath, and breakfast was quite good with good variety offered. Some staff were very helpful, while others were very business-like and didn't offer anything more than required. If location is the most important factor for you, and you don't mind paying for it, then you will be happy with Hotel Am Stephanplatz. Our stay felt very business-like and mechanical, yet we were not business travellers. By that I mean service didn't feel very personal and we felt we were just another guest staying in the hotel. When we arrived in the room, we only had towels for one (not the two we were paying for). Unfortunately we had to ask for extra towels personally on three separate occasions, which was very frustrating considering we were only staying in the hotel for one night. We also felt the hotel was rather expensive for what we got. Other than location, not much else was offered.

Staying at the hotel was a very good experience, we enjoyed the central position and the view over St Stephansplatz Cathedral. We were amazed how quiet it was despite hundreds of people walking past. The room was very clean and modern, excellent bathroom, Breakfast is good and extensive, the staff very good. Good location for hop on hop off bus tours, the underground and horse and carriage rides. Nothing

Location excellent. The woodcarving art was also very interesting and likeable. We had to change room on arrival because of limited space in the first room, but were happy with the second room allocated.

The Hotel had an amazing position being right in Stephansplatz and with a metro station right at the door. We had a beautiful room overlooking the St Stephens Cathedral. It was however a very quiet room thanks to the high quality double glazed windows. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom ( 2 showers! ) was spacious and had excellent toiletries. The hotel promoted their excellent drinking water. Finally the breakfast was superb, couldnt fault it, nor the lovely breakfast room.
