Upon arrival, the front desk staff couldn't have been more welcoming! Even the front desk supervisor greeted us - we were a group of 6 and made quite a grand entrance! The lobby is quite small, but with the hallway, there was plenty of room. The rooms were beautiful - with marble bathrooms, gorgeously appointed. We booked a room in the back of the hotel, which was perfect, however our friends booked with a view of the Operahouse. Needless to say, our group spent wonderful evenings in our friends' room enjoying our "happy hour" with complementary wine and beer from our minibar. And enjoyed the view! The staff was outstanding, they secured tickets for us and gave us recommendations for dining. The location is PERFECT! we walked to everything in the old city. I would highly, highly recommend the Guesthouse!
The restaurant that is part of the hotel was a disappointment. Our waiter at breakfast was rude when asked if we could have separate checks for the three couples, he rolled his eyes and then returned and said that they could not do that for us because the bill was already made. At dinner we asked for separate checks before we ordered and were accommodated. The food, however, was a huge disappointment. The Hotel is a 10+, but the restaurant did not live up to the hotel's excellence. In addition to the food being subpar, we were automatically charged 3.50 euros EACH for a basket of bread that allowed one roll for each of us. The bread basket is not negotiable, if you decline the bread basket, you are charged a 3.50 euro "cover" charge.
