Score from 1509 reviews Very good
Great staff welcomed our family and catered to our requests. We had dinner there the day we checked in and breakfast the next morning: all was wonderful!
The restaurant's food is tasty and the staff extremely friendly. Cosy little town with beautiful church, close to Salzburg.
The Grossgmain village is a nice place itself just on the border with German. Scenic views a guaranteed. The Hotel itself is a friendly place in countryside stile. Breakfast is ok, stuff is very friendly. Wi-fi in place though a bit slow.
The heating in the room was a bit too intensive, it was sometimes hot. The restaurant is not working in the mid of the day which was also a bit distracting. The church with is just close to the building provide the bell music already 7 o'clock in the morning - can be surprising:)
In one word Wonderful! Amazing hotel... Big room, clean, very nice staff and in a beautiful area.
The hotel was clean, breakfast fine. We used it as a night-stop on our way to France, but I consider to come back and make a holiday there.
This hotel had everything and more. Food was five star for a three star hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
nice big room great view from balcony
The food was very good and the staff were very attentive. Our room was kept beautifully clean with daily maid service. The young Votterl family spoke excellent English, were very helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble.
We thought the shower was very basic and feel that an improvement on that would be most appreciated. The only fault we could find!
good price, free parking area, very kind and friendly people and staff, fair breakfast, clean and big room and a balcony with a very nice view, it was the best hotel in my trip to Austria, and i really would like to stay in it again!
Like other previous reviewers, we had a room in the back of the hotel over looking the Bavarian Alps and it was absolutely stunning. The room was spacious and clean with a small balcony that had a table and two chairs. It rained while we were there and had a rainbow develop across the mountains. The staff was friendly and nice. A few of them spoke English, Veronica at the front desk was very helpful in giving us advice as to what to do. We took the city bus from the hotel to Salzburg which was a 30 minute ride and a wonderful drive through the countryside. The bus stop is literally behind the hotel a few yards away. The breakfast buffet was a good selection and dinner at the restaurant was delicious. Apparently, there is a lot to do in the area however the weather didn't permit (we went early August). The town where the hotel is located is beautiful and picturesque. Wifi is available and strong, we got a password and log in when we checked in.
Coming from the us, I am used to beds with a little softer mattress. It seems to be a common occurrence in Europe that mattress are on the harder side. We didn't have a stand up shower but a tub with a handheld shower head that can be attached to the tub or held in your hand. The tub unfortunately is not that big, so a little maneuvering is required.
it was a short stop and we didn't face anything bad.
Absolut fine ...
Room was comfortable, clean and hotel very quiet and ideally located. The room had a balcony overlooking mountains of Bavaria which was delightful. The staff were all friendly and helpful and there was very much a personal and family atmosphere. The Hotel has Wi Fi but I could not access as I had no means of doing so. I was allowed personal use of Hotel facilities to send a few important emails and nothing ever seemed to be too much trouble. We were sad to leave. The location is also ideal as near to Salzburg but also only few miles from Bad Reichanal which is famous for health Spas and there are cable cars available to go up in the mountains for walking.
Nothing - it all exceeded expectations in every aspect
We loved almost everything, the location is perfect, close to Salzburg and the Eagle's Nest, amazing views, bike and hiking trails. Hotel is family run business, friendly and helpful, great restaurant on site sering local specialties, rooms are large, with the balconies, clean bathrooms. We will be back for sure.
Our room was a little bit noisy due to the street noise and the church bells, but we decided that waking up at 7 am with the bells would be good for us. No fridge in the room, but it was cold enough to store our drinks on the balconies. I still put 5* everywhere.
Very , very nice stuff, room, WIFI, breakfast, ambient, position, you can arange everything with this people, the costumer is king and human,
1. Friendly and warm Austrian hospitality. Reception was very helpful and kind. 2. Scenic view from the hotel room balcony 3. Nice breakfast 4. Nice, clean and spacious rooms 5. Good location to enjoy the proximity to Salzburg yet close to nature.
The hotel is located at the border of Germany and Austria with very nice view. The whole area is clean, fresh, and relaxing. The hotel restaurant provides delicious Austria-style dishes. In particular, the owner is very friendly. I'll surely recommend this hotel to my friends.
It will be wonderful if the speed of the internet was improved! Yet, it won't be important for people who are taking vocation...
I had already been at this hotel, and I came back because the effort the family put into it is exceptional. Staff are most kind and helpful, rooms are most proper, clean, and large. Their food is very good and typical. If you are looking for a big, , standard, chain hotel go somewhere else; but if you are OK with small, family driven hotels, there are very few options better than this.
at a very nice place, surrounded by mountains, the view is just wonderful. It's lovely to have a beer and dinner in the garden with the very nice view. The village is nice too. spacious room.
The wooden floor makes noise when you walk on it.
Clean, good value, was located centrally to Salzberg and Berchstgaden . In a small, cozy, seemingly upscale town. Was very peaceful and felt like a community hotel. We had room 201 and it was very large. I think it was a corner room and may not be indicative of most.veronica and staff were very helpful.
Slow, but tolerable, Internet. Breakfast was fair at best, but it did the job of providing a full stomach to start sightseeing on. Nice shower and plenty of hot water.
