Maria's suite, the collection of photos and learning about the Trapp family history. We were just amazed that we actually got to stay in this villa.
We did not get offered the scrambled eggs. Captions under the photos would be helpful identifying those in the photo.
1. The story of the house 2. The nice area 3. The staff You will need to remember that it is an old house and not an hotel. The story of the house is the main issue to remember. The place kept very clean and using the ground floor suite we had good night sleep without doors slamming like you will normally get in a normal hotel.
Villa Trapp was beautiful, really enjoyed staying in the real Von Trapp home. We found it a bit difficult to find, only because we where given the wrong directions by the bus driver. IF your taking the bus from the town, DO get of at the train station stop, it's only a 5 minute walk from there!
No chance of an evening meal! We where tired after travelling, and didn't feel up to heading back into town again. We opted for a toasted sandwich, kindly made for us by a member of staff. Very expensive though at 5.60 for one tiny sandwich. There is a restaurant nearby, (Schloss Aigem) unfortunatly, it doesn't open every night!
We were welcomed by Elizabeth, she showed us to a basic room that was far from basic. It was tastefully decorated and well furnished. The shared bathroom that made it a basic option was perfectly clean and shared only with one other room. The house was beautiful, the room decor was modern but sym pathetic to the history and grandeur of the Trapp family home. We didn't have breakfast but we did pole our head in to look and it looked amazing. Excellent value for money for a gorgeous historic and romantic stay. We would highly recommend.
The mattress was -slightly- uncomfortable, but really I suppose that is personal preference. Everything else was immaculate.
We stayed in the Junior Suite,in September, which was the Captain and Maria's room. Windows were open at night and little birds would wake us up in the morning. The windows were overlooking the backyard and a glorious mountain. Beautiful. Nice breakfast too! Simple country faire.
Very well restored historic home with Trapp family history, photos, etc. Nice property to explore inside and out. Free parking, easy to find. Our corner room had two windows and a private bath. Staff were very friendly and had great suggestions for dinner, sightseeing, parking downtown, etc.
Wifi only available in common living room. Outside the city; requires car, bus or taxi - not a problem for us, but definitely not in the heart of the action.
Everything.lovely ambience, comfortable, very luxurious feel for budget price. We got a good end of season sale.
Very quaint , homely feel to the place
WiFi only in ground floor would have preferred it in room as well.
This place deserve even 7 stars! Perfectly designed and staff are very kind and gentle. Everything was really nice!
The location is outside skirt and requires walking in the dark es
History and background
1. Arrogant staff 2. Poor location
Beautiful House, fantastic breakfast, lovely helpful staff was everything and more than I expected it to be, would definitely stay here again. Close to train station & bus stop only a short trip to reach the centre of Salzberg.
Getting upgraded room Lovely rooms and grounds History of the building
Not getting early check in although it had been booked and confirmed
The History, The atmosphere, The situation, & the splendor. Greeted by Elizabeth and made to feel at home straight away. Personal attention.
The operators running a very tight budget! maybe a bit too tight
Too expensive for what we had
It is a memorable and unique experience to stay at Villa Trapp as a Sound of Music fan, especially the fan of the book Sound of Music written by Maria. The hotel is located in a fair and silent area, surrounded by tall trees and green grasses, and there is a mountain standing at the end of the view in the backyard. The transportation to Salzburg downtown is convenient. The hotel is very close to train station Aigen which is connected with HBF by S3 every half an hour, and the duration time is 10 mins. Generally speaking, staying here is worth money.
There is only one plug seat available in the room and it is far from any desk/chair/bed. The room is small, and there's no tea making facilities.
Seemingly historical and luxury hotel but...
Fatal defect !! - clogging toilet - Paper stuffed in the toilet completely and no flushed water passed almost at all. Reception was closed at 19:00 and so, toilet could not be used till the next morning. Problem is not only this. In the morning I advised this matter to receptionist of the hotel to which a comment given was miracle!!! &Quot; This is not our fault. The problem was caused by too much paper used". Who can judge the 'proper' quantity of paper? How to know the maximum limit of paper quantity per one flushing? No warning was shown in the bath room in any case. While it was fact that the customer had big problem by hotel facilities. I stayed various hotels in the world more than 70 to 80 nights per year (Booling.com should know my experience.) but I never met such problem with, I believe, proper quantity of paper to be flushed. Anyhow, the matter is not to insist who had fault but this hotel lost the point important for the accomodation I.E., to serve confortable stay for the guests. I add other points which are also important. Door was hardly locked and we were afraid if the door was blocked if the key was turned. I found that the key could be locked by forcing the door always upward. Do you still like to stay such hotel???
A must have for Sound of Music fans Rooms were big and clean Lounge area was nice Travel connections into Salzburg were easy Supermarkets near by
Outstanding property! The building is gorgeous, the views are great, and the price for the suite was much more reasonable than I would have expected. I just wish I could have stayed longer. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was a bit over-priced.
the comfort of the beds and the sofas, the other guests, the staff, the building itself: all lovely!
We liked everything about Villa Trapp
There might be more convenient and budget friendly locations for sight-seeing in Salzburg, but the experience of staying at the original Von Trapp home made this a nice place to stay. Being in the country side was also nice, and very restful.
While the home itself is beautiful, the room furnishings were more modern than I had expected. It would be nice to see furnishings more inline with the period of the home itself.
Good location, Traditional, breakfast available, large room, clean, good toilet and shower, elevator
We enjoyed the nice villa for it's sense of luxury.
The rooms aren't spacious, the breakfast is quite expensive at 12,- per person, and the distance to Salzburg center is somewhat large. Only recommended when traveling by car.
