There might be more convenient and budget friendly locations for sight-seeing in Salzburg, but the experience of staying at the original Von Trapp home made this a nice place to stay. Being in the country side was also nice, and very restful.
While the home itself is beautiful, the room furnishings were more modern than I had expected. It would be nice to see furnishings more inline with the period of the home itself.
Good location, Traditional, breakfast available, large room, clean, good toilet and shower, elevator
We enjoyed the nice villa for it's sense of luxury.
The rooms aren't spacious, the breakfast is quite expensive at 12,- per person, and the distance to Salzburg center is somewhat large. Only recommended when traveling by car.
Staff was lovely & the house was lovely made my holiday complete as I had always dreamed of going there so it was magical .
A bit of noise above Maria's room as they walk about some nights & early mornings .
Staff was very gracious. Barons Suite was lovely, spacious and sleeping accommodations were great. Along with Fräulein Maria bike tour, this was the perfect stay. Loved the home tour!
Location and atmosphere
Few of normal hotel services: No English language TV stations Bathroom accesories - no paper hankies, sanitory bags, shampoo etc Breakfast - little choice, service was poor and it was an additional cost! Overpriced
We appreciated the warm welcome of the director. Good breakfast and a very good atmosphere shared by all guests gathered at the family table all morning long (until 10 o'clock).
It's far from downtown. Even if you take the bue recommended (N°7), you cannot take it after one o'clock. The car parking are awfully expensive (19 Euros) for ten hours).
We were made to feel so welcome and even given a little tour of the house. The hosts were so friendly and told us all about the house's history and the real von Trapp story which we loved. The house is tastefully decorated, with all modern comforts (including wifi) and very luxurious. We especially enjoyed breakfast around the long communal dining table. Plenty of parking and close to Salzburg so even without all the history of the house it would be a great base for sightseeing. But for Sound of Music fans it is awesome. The highlight of our holiday.
The upgrade to the Baron's suite It was very clean and the staff was super friendly!!
The distance from the city, but you don't have the nicer part of the residential area in the city, so it was ok.
Location, room size, nice breakfast
Villa Trapp was a beautiful house with a rich history and a very helpful and friendly staff.
It would've been very nice to have a fan in our room bc it got a little stuffy.
This was not value for money. Our room was tiny, the staff were unfriendly and not at all helpful. Our shower drain was blocked and despite two requests to have it fixed or have a new room, neither happened. The hotel relied heavily on the history of the Von Trapp family and didn't really seem to be interested in providing a basic service. Won't be recommending this place to anyone.
This is a wonderful place for fans of the Von Trapp family--such an interesting, immersive historical experience. The Villa is lovely, right down to the marks on the banister where the children slid down. The gardens are beautiful, too. We loved our room on the 3rd floor.
It's not that easy to get around without a car, although you can walk to a bus stop. I wish there had been a tour of the house available, because I'm sure there is lots to learn. Wireless access only in the main room on the first floor.
The history of the house Very helpful and knowledgeable staff Very comfortable bedroom The whole experience of living the sound of music story
Breakfast, although really good, was probably overpriced
Expensive breakfast for what was available.
Excellent restaurant recommendations from the staff, lovely large rooms, plenty of room for kids to run around outside,
The location, a quiet, romantic place with tall trees and a big garden fits perfectly with the building. This beautiful villa is at the suburbs of Saltsburg with easy access to the center of the city by bus. So you can enjoy the quietness of the place and also visit easily the busy center of Saltsburg. The staff very polite and helpful, We have read the true story of Von Trapp family so we wanted to see the real place and not the American aspect from the well known musical. The large living room and every bedroom were nicely decorated.
The WiFi was rather weak in our bedroom, so we had to go to the living room for acses to the internet.
It is the Trapp house Sitting Room and Dining Room beautifully appointed Decor Von Trapp mementos Reminiscent of Sound of Music Memories
Very far from town Train noise Having to pay 12 Euros for a mediocre breakfast, no hot food Not a good deal City tax must be paid in cash Wifi only worked in sitting room
The room was very comfortable and facilities were clean and modern. Breakfast was tasty though choices were limited. Convenient bus ride into town. Staff were friendly.
My biggest beef is that Staff were available only at certain hours (before 3pm), which is very inconvenient if you check in late. We wouldn't have known where to go if we didn't bump into other guests. The house is outside of the city so I would recommend staying here ONLY if you have a car because there are no restaurants around within walking distance and the only supermarket nearby closes at 8pm.
The house was clean and fresh
We arrived about half past 7 at night and we didn't see a member of staff till about 8 the next morning. We couldn't get any refreshments at all or food. Very disappointing when you've had a 9 hour drive.
Nice to see the hotel
WIFI is not working for 3 days, a lot of noise of trains.
I loved the old house and it's history. I didn't have to struggle with stairs there was a elevator. Even though it's an old house it has every modern amenity available. I just loved it all round. Can't wait to take my family from South Africa there when they visit me in Germany.
Very nice house , close to city centre ( by car )
Beautiful house and grounds. Room size was good
No compendium, no internet in room. No tea and coffee facilities, no iron. Location requires a car
Very special to stay in the Trapp family home . Only a 10 minute drive into Salzburg ... easy to park in the major carparks . Elisabeth was very welcoming .... The house has a lovely feel , was exceptionally clean and our beds were very comfortable . Breakfast was delicious . A must for fans of the story of the Trapp family .
