comfortable stay with no one to trouble
one of the staffs at reception had poor public relations and he was simply rude. Other staffs were fairly good.
Noise until early hours
Location Perfect Nice reception Staff Bar and resteraunt good value
Only issue was noise from basement disco till 3AM Not an issue if partying
Location Cheap laundry
Rude staff in connected bar below when I tried to order the cheap breakfast, was told no offer existed despite it being printed on every welcome pack in the building Squeaky beds, squeaky doors, shower block out of order for entire floor
Location: Awesome location, Awesome location, Awesome location. Nice old lift: Terrible if you have a few bags on your own, but gave a nostalgic feel.
Staff: Not rude, but not really that welcoming, either. I rocked up wearing a suit; a true dichotomy from the usual client you might see. Internet: I paid $8 (4/day) for internet that was unusable unless I went and sat somewhere on the ground floor. I object to being told that if the internet is slow, I should come down to the ground floor (from the 4th) AFTER I had paid for it. The 4th floor being "furthest from the router" is simply not a good enough excuse in this, the 21st century! Get a booster or put another router in. Bathrooms: No better than public amenities. Broken locks on cubicle doors in a facility like that is unacceptable when you ask $50/day. Overall bathroom experience was poor. Bathrooms are badly in need of a paint job and TLC. While I appreciate the "save water" signs, it is a little rich when you don't employ any water saving shower heads or faucets. A couple of hooks in the shower area to hang clothes/towels on would have been nice too. Loud Speaker: While I appreciate the building wide loudspeaker system is useful for advertising your dinner specials, and nightly events, and I myself am a rather liberal person, I don't think it is appropriate to have talk about masturbation, and other such sexually charged topics. Sure, have sexy fun while you're young, but don't marginalise the wider client base with unnecessarily sexual content building wide; it is inappropriate. I did not utilise the kitchen area or much of the downstairs common areas.
1. spacious room with shower room and toilet 2. They clean the bathroom everyday. 3.good price 4. friendly staff 5. great location, very close to central station
1. too noisy because there was a construction close to this backpacker 2. The building is old, smells not so good when I walked on the aisle.
In town city .
No bath towel. Drity . Noise .
The location is great, the staff were friendly, the bedding and bathrooms were clean, and the (old but functional) lift was much appreciated, as it meant I could avoid carrying my bag up lots of stairs.
It's pretty noisy - street noise, and old bangy doors when people come and go - so if you're a light sleeper you should bring ear plugs. The showers are also dribbly taps with no water pressure - would have been impossible if I'd needed to wash my hair - but the bathrooms were clean, so it's not all bad.
very central to everything with central station right across the road
too noisy, beds not very comfy, very small rooms
-VERY dirty kitchen -too many people -very noisy -bed was not comfortable at all -air conditioning was quite inefficient and very noisy -very bad smell in the bedroom !
great location, good staff
Staff was available to answer questions and make suggestions. Breakfast voucher was reasonable and food delicious!
My room was over the bar and was noisy till 2am.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The building could be cleaner.
Smelly room and noise
The hostel is perfectly located for exploring the city, going in and out from the airport and getting about.
The hostel was very noisy, I had a room to myself but was woken several times all 3 of the nights I stayed there by people coming in and out and making noise in the corridors. There is also an annoying tannoy that announces bar events until late. The bathrooms weren't very clean and the shower was terrible.
Clean room, cute and kitsch
Showers sucked no water pressure, kept going hot to cold. Bathrooms were freezing cold.
Great location to Central Station. Good bar right underneath.
Some fool had trashed 1 shower
The people I met in my room... staff were nice too.
The hostel was dirty and generally just unpleasant to be in
Very noisy, bathroom and toilet was disguisting, each door had kind of ornament, like rosette on the top with no glass, so de facto there was big hole and every sound (especially form bar and desk) was very well heard during nigth. Toilet door was broken.
Single Room had literally just a bed, a beside table and a bin. The toilets and shower facilities were terrible, of the three shower cubicles, the water didn't work in one and the handle fell of the shower tap in the other. The facilites were also in very poor repair with grafitti everywhere (not cool grafitti, more of a run down pub toilet kind of grafitti) and paint peeling. Noise from the street was all night, the fanlight above the door let the light in from the hall way and the noise from the club under the hostel was loud on the 4th floor. At 9am I had room service knock on my door and when i said I was fine they kept asking me questions until I told them to leave me alone, then maintenance told me they needed access to change something and I told them I was trying to sleep (had arrived into australia at 5am) and they said that they still needed access so I told them 'No' and to leave me in peace which they whinged about and then left me alone. This is a Hostel, a very low quality, not very cheap hostel that is not worth the money they charge and the facilities are rubbish. Also forget about their pay per day internet as its rubbish and so slow its not worth it, go to the Library for free high speed internet instead if you need wifi for business as I did. Overall I would recommend you don't bother with this place unless you are 18 and don't care and want to be drunk for your entire stay.
Very central , and reasonable price , and very friendly and welcoming staff
THE BED SHEETS WERE NOT CHANGED FROM THE PREVIOUS CUSTOMER !!!! ridiculous
Good location friendly staff
Rooms small and far from bathroom
location, comfy bed, nice staff
shower water pressure could be improved...
I stayed in 3 hostels in Brisbane and BASE was the best. The staff member on the front desk when I arrived was beyond friendly, and she checked me in early and put me in a girls only dorm (though that was not what I had booked). The dorm itself was very clean, had adequate power points and lockers. The room was really dark at night too which was a pleasure. Other guests were really respectful and friendly, and did their best to be quiet when others were sleeping. To me, the way the guests behave says a lot about the quality and culture of the hostel. BIG tick.
There were towels on the floor of the bathroom being used as bathmats, however if you weren't the first to shower then it was a little gross to be standing on a sopping wet towel. But the shower pressure was really nice!
