The pool was great for a 5yo
Lack of elevators makes it hard to get luggage up 2 floors
noisy air conditioning. old fixtures. tacky styling. bar never open.
the window curtain does not work properly; the kitchen corner is not clean.
We were passing through and arrived late. Simple room. Didn't see any employees. Didn't stay for meals. Beds were comfortable. Easy access. Good price.
Not as close as indicated to the most popular dining, tourist amenities (example the lagoon). No tourist info at motelroom such as map, what to do in Cairns, where to dine
Location and price
Low standard of cleanliness. Restaurant advertised on Internet has been closed for some time
We thought the water temperature in shower was extremely hot and not easy to regulate - it would be very dangerous for a child to regulate - also an exhaust fan in bathroom would have been helpful!!
Overall facilities is good
Sarah , 1 staff member so rude to all of us . Not helpful at all .
Bed etc was comfy, slept well.
Staff communication was shocking, over charged twice by mistake. Not enough towels or cups in room for the amount of guests. No elevator. Air con was terrible.
the yard end the pool
The room was reasonably clean with reasonable amenities-- microwave, electric kettle, instant coffee and tea, television, reasonably comfortable beds. The pool looked nice. The building is about a 20-25 minute to the centre of Cairns, about a 10 minute walk from a convenience store and good dinner options, and right across the street from a cool, funky little coffee shop. The people working the front desk, when the place was actually staffed, were friendly and helpful.
The management of this place is laughably bad-- it's a small "family owned" place, but that means that they apparently don't feel the need to be open all the time. We checked in on a Monday public holiday, and had received an e-mail stating that check in was available 14:00-23:00. When we turned up at 15:30, expecting to check in quickly and get to an event that was starting at 5 (leaving us 25 minutes to walk there), the door was locked and a printed sign informed us that because of the holiday, the building would be staffed 16:00-21:00 that day. There was a phone line to call for "after hours" help, which recommended calling on your mobile phone rather than the courtesy phone because they were having problems with the phone line. I rang but sat on hold for about 10 minutes before giving up. A young woman arrived to open the place at 15:55, but didn't have a key. She rang the manager about 15 minutes later to discover that he "didn't know" he was meant to come unlock the place and would be there in 20 minutes. (At this point it's 16:15, with the expectation that the manager would be there at 16:35, and there were 4 other couples hoping to check in as well). At our protest, she called another person who could be there in just a few minutes to open the door. By the time we were checked in, it was 16:30, and we ended up being late for the event we were going to. (As one elderly couple waiting to check in with us was shocked to discover, this is not a "Sheraton" hotel, it is the Sheridan, named after the street it's on. It's also no longer affiliated with the Best Western-- they've painted over the blue sign!)
No tourist booking service, reception said they had not telephone credit. So we did our own thing and it was cheaper anyway.
City sheridan, 157 Sheridan Street, Cairnes, Qld. WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL ON TUESDAY 7TH OCTOBER THE HOTEL WAS C L O S E D. UNBELIEVABLE. NO INDICATION OF THE POSSIBLE CLOSURE ON OUR BOOKING CONFIRMATION . The receptionist arrived at 3.45pm and informed us it should be opened by 4pm. When the Manager did not arrive at 4pm to open up, she spoke to the manager on her mobile and then informed us that he would be another 20 minutes. So she phoned the owners, who arrived within 10 minutes. No apologies for closing the hotel, but mentioned that it was a Holiday Day in Cairns. Surely that should not apply to hotels!!!!! Our rooms were on the 3rd floor and there was NO lifts. The owner indicated that it was just a small hotel. It was not the type of Sheridan Hotel that I was expecting and anticipated when making the booking. The room was clean and bed was comfortable.
The location, the price, the convenience. It is "no frills", but the price is also "no frills". Staff were courteous.
Beautiful surroundings, pool, eating area.
Television wasn't working.
Staff very friendly and helpful as late arrival. Looked after cases when we went on 2 night reef trip
No lift for cases
It was nice & clean. In a great position. The price was very reasonable. No complaints.
messy gardens that looked unloved. trash visible from stairwell and bin lid open 1 washer 1 dryer lack of $1 coin place needs a make over bar / cafe not open insufficient glasses in room towel had residue of makeup on one bed had no castors so wanted to roll when you sat on it had to ask for more soap
stairs to rooms ie 3rd floor with heavy suitcases
I liked the pool area and the assistance by the reception staff
Buzzing doors, threadbare towels, hair throughout the room, mould in the shower recess but mostly that you can hear everything your neighbours are doing and that you get scratches all over her feet when in the pool
I live in the Gulf and this was the perfect place for accessing medical assistance, shopping and the places we wanted to visit while here.
room unmade when we arrived no water pressure on level 3 taxi ordered by reception did not turn up lugging suitcase up 3 levels of stairs
Great position near Esplanade, wonderful coffee shop across road, off street parking, everything with easy access, close drive to Tanks and city. Room very comfortable and clean
The spacious rooms.
The very limited number of TV channels. Entertainment is important for guest who wish to watch different channels.
Big room with a good shower, lovely balcony.
