Cost in relation to location

As I stay in your hotel twice every month at around $85 to $95 and the last time I was booking in on line the cost was $119 so I booked at another hotel. There should be a better rate for frequent clients.

Easy and convenient location, friendly staff, fair value for money.

24 hours reception. Close to the city.

We weren't advised when I called to extend the booking a day earlier that the restaurant was not operational during our stay and since we were with our elderly parents this was a major inconvenience as this is one of the reasons we stay here. The convenience of not having to go out to dine.

Some of the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located a short walk from The Esplanade. The room was clean and tidy.

A couple of reception staff were not so helpful. The room was quite small and the bathroom old fashioned. No in-house movies or DVD player available. I travelled with a group of friends, and we stayed in two rooms. The rooms were the same price, but one with two double beds while the other only had a double and a single.

Really friendly reception staff, nice comfortable room with nice balcony, good bed and overall a good place to stay. Excellent location on the esplanade and ideal for a walk. Nearby enough to bars/restaurants but far enough away that you don't get the noise. Breakfast was really well done and once again, the member of staff in the restaurant for breakfast was excellent.

The television in the room had a bit of interference on some of the channels, but at the end of the day, who comes on holiday to watch tv?!

Wifi was only available on groung floor and had quite a lot of connection problems as well.

The refurbished rooms were great, and spacious too. The location is good, just outside of the busy part of town.

The outside appearance, the sign of the hotel is outdated and shabby, as is the no vacancies sign, but the place is bright and pleasant inside. The restaurant doesnt seem to do much trade, but thats because there is so much competition.

The food was fairly good although the "restaurant" was spartan and lacking any warmth

Thew room we had faced west into a blisteringly hot sun which made the balcony useless to use in the afternoon..and there was no blind or any form of shade. It was not properly cleaned either on arrival or subsequently.

Rooms very clean and good. Not old or worn out. Nice balcony. Very good location, directly at esplanade. 10 minute nice walk to lagoon/center. Very good price. Free parking.

Not much to complain. I didn't had breakfast in the hotel.

Nice location across the road from the beach. Has a friendly water playground across the road so would be good for families. Rooms where neat and tidy and made you feel like your staying in a much newer hotel than what it is.

Restaurant didn't look appealing and was very empty. Bit of a walk from main shops and restaurants.

I have been coming to the Cairns Plaza - both on business and personal trips for a number of years, found it excellent & recommended it to many others. I always choose an Ocean Suite, enjoy the outlook, balconies, airiness of the accommodation. And having the kitchen facilities has been great for longer stays. Staff have always been friendly & helpful. This last visit was unfortunately a less enjoyed experience. Room 507 clean but very 'tired', which spoilt it for me. If the hotel is being renovated, I believe it should have been indicated that this was an un - refurbished room & a lower price offered. It's about 'changed perceptions'.....I expected what I'd had previously, and feel it wasn't available to me this time. Disappointing......

The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble no matter what time of day or night.

In the process of being refurbished while we were there.

No hot water. When I rang the desk, I was informed to run the water for ten minutes and then it MIGHT get hot. This is exceptionally eco-UNfriendly, considering the signs in the bathroom talking ab out conserving water. When I tried the water the next morning, there was STILL no hot water, despite telling staff of the problem.

Frendly Staff

Very big suite (separate living and sleeping rooms) with full kitchen equipment, silent aircondition. Just a few steps to the Esplanade and a reasonable walk to downtown.

The breakfast offered by booking.com for 15 AU$ is the normal "buffet breakfast" - but this is not listed on the menu at the tables, so this caused some confusion to us and the staff. As in all our hotels in Australia: no cheese and sausage selection for breakfast, just butter, jams, peanut butter and vegemite in those tiny plastic cups, not very eco-efficient.
