Calypso Inn Backpackers Resort

even though this is a backpakers we found it to be very below the rest of the standard others in the local area. we also paid extra to have wifi which we could not receice in our room. would not reccommend.

just really good service and everyone there was really helpful. plus the place just has a great atmosphere and I dont usually like backpacker hostels so that is saying something.

that I am not currently by their pool enjoying the sun and good times !

Maybe a bit far from the 'centre' of cairns

One of the only hostels in town with free shuttle to airport, wharf and downtown, very convenient. Fun atmosphere without being overly rowdy or crazy. AC unit in the room worked real well.

Showers upstairs lacked any place to hang/ hold your change of clothes or toiletries and the water was often not hot. Room felt a little grimy and beds not that great but not that bad either.

That they accommodated my request for a room away from the action.

Slummy, backpacking scene with VERY loud music til the early hours of the morning.

Great atmosphere and friendly guests and staff. Thank you for a wonderful few days.

I would have liked to see recycling bins in the hostel.

Good atmosphere. Cleanliness was great. Staff were helpful and informative. All for a reasonable price!

The atmosphere - cool outdoor area and cool bar.

Room was tiny! Not value for money at all. Staff on the desk were not helpful really and too busy drinking and smoking, however were friendly overall. The website states free parking however there isn't any, the bays state no parking between 8 and 6pm

The shuttle bus to and from the city and the airport is an excellent service. We were very impressed with how frequently it went.

We realise that backpackers accommodation is likely to have late night music/drinking however, with our room so close to the bar, we were not able to sleep until 1am at the earliest. Alot of people staying would have arranged to go on early tours etc. as we did which meant a very interrupted nights sleep. Such a shame really as the bar area was quite nice. Rooms should not be directly facing it especially within 10 metres!!!

Good location and price.

If you are looking for a funny stay, this is perfect. But if you are looking a quite place, may be you can continue looking for.

The shuttles to and from the airport and city were great! The staff were very nice, and there seemed to be a lot of fun events in the evenings (which also meant that it was a bit loud when you were trying to sleep)

There were some grungy rooms. It was a bit of a walk to city centre. The washroom and shower facilities werent great.

I really enjoyed the crew who's been so friendly and helpfull. The atmosphere is relax and friendly. Met great people. Also the location is really usefull, you're out of the town centre but 15min awy walking from it and the beach is really close too. I highly recommand it!

I didn't like to leave! :)
