Only complaint would have to be that there were no elevators

Everything. The staff were so friendly it really made you feel welcome. They were so helpful with the tour bookings also.

Having to leave

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped me with all my tour bookings. The apartment was very clean and equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday.

The location is excellant. Walking distance to the esplande and to the resturants area, supermarket and The Night Market. Also very easy approach to the main roads if you want to go out of the city or to the airport.

The staff were all very accommodating, nothing was a problem. The room was so clean and the bed was very comfy. Couldn't ask for more.

The BBQ area and location close to everything but far enough away from the night club noise . The host was great very helpful but not overbearing

Given the weather was a bit cooler during our stay, it would have been nice to have fly sscreens so we could keep windows open

Good position for the esplanade, shops, restaurants and day trips. Staff can book trips for you. Our one bedroom apartment had everything we needed, including and outside sitting area.

Reception staff only part-time at weekends. Free wi/fi but had problems getting on to it and seemed slow.

The room was realy nice and spacious. Nice bead and small kichen place. Exactly what you need for a couple of days of traveling around Cairns.

Very friendly staff. Very large spacious 2 bedroom unit. All rooms very spacious. Large bathroom ensuite. Loved the spa bath. Central location close to esplanade and shops. Beautiful pool and surroundings. Immaculate bbq area. Unit was vey clean and modern. Full kitchen amenities.

Leaving

My room was superb: spacious, completely fitted incl. Fridge, washing maschine, dryer, high quality kitchen equipment, everything new or almost new. Separate bedroom. Silent airco. Nice (small) pool area with bbq facilities. Walking distance to the esplanade and shops, restaurants, supermarkets, shopping arcades.

On 2 out of my 5 days the pool could not be used: one day due to waterblasting (pool closed), the next day "usable" but without circulation pump and with dirt from the blasting floating in the water. My room was on the second floor, there was no lift.

Really well located. Just 5 minutes to the Esplanade and bars etc but quiet as well. Appartment was large. Plenty of room to move about and well equipped. Had its own washer and dryer! Pool was small but usually empty so good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. An all round good experience.

1. we requested and got confirmed we will have a king size bed, but didn't turn out to be one 2. the HSKP knock on our door 2 time on the departure morning, we understand you are fully booked and you need the room, but can you just leave us some time for shower,,,?

Not much

I booked this hotel because of the free wifi.When I got there I immediately regretted that decision. The hotel looks like a bunker with a new paint job. Old furniture and cheap deco is the standard. The uncomfortable bright white lighting and strange layout of the room makes you want to get up and leave asap. On top of that, the wifi failed to work in the beginning, and when I told the manager/owner I was told that it was my device not working. Now I was using an iPad, pretty standard equipment I would say. Turned out you needed the specific url to get to the login page - this url was unknown to the manager. Later I asked for the airport shuttle bus and was told that for 4 AUD more I could take a taxi. When I asked what the price would be, she said it would be between 20-25 AUD. Now the bus only costs 10 or 12 AUD depending on the company, so I could not really understand the maths of the manager but I guess there must be some kind of incentive for her because she kept on pushing for the taxi. So not so good experience with the front desk to say the least. Other comment is about the swimming pool which is tiny and not really that inviting to swim in. The place is not that far a walk from the Esplanade but on a busy street with no or few interesting shops/bars/restaurants around it. In conclusion, there are many different options at similar prices that are so much more nicer to stay at. Hotel Cascade is generously overpriced for what it is.
