The rustic & quirkiness of the place. The rooms were lovely clean and cool. Heating was available for the cooler nights. The hosts were friendly and made a lovely breakfast, and were helpful in suggestions of places to see.
There was quite a lot of traffic noise due to being surrounded by main roads. However, our room cut out quite a lot of the noise. Our bed was also a little "lumpy", and the pillows were very flat.
I don't know whether to rave about the room or the lovely owners 1st. Very accomodating & went out of their way to make our trip wonderful. One day we missed breakfast after a late night and they brought it to our room and as if this that wasn't lovely enough they would put the dogs away at breaskfast time since I was terrified of them. We stayed in the stable and it was beautuiful, so much character and charm and there was a beautiful view of the city from our balcony at night. We were really lucky as the other guests were great and we had a chat at breasfast time. All in all it was perfect and I would follow this lovely couple all the way to Queenstown :)
It was freezing, then again that was probably more to do with Tassie than the room. The heater took forever to heat up the room, but all the other lovely stuff more than made up for it.
Large stone-walled room with huge bathroom. Comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly hosts even when I arrived late.
- Fabulous old building thoughtfully and tastefully renovated - Comfortable accommodations - Delicious generous included breakfast - Delightful accommodating hosts in Penelope and David. - Beautiful views of the water and the hills from the porch
Only draw back was a little noise pollution from the roadway that runs alongside the property. With doors closed to the room this has minimal impact.
A homestead just five minutes from the city but with a country or a rural environment - complete with geese, wild rabbits and alpacas . We had the Barn suite which was clean, comfortable and oozed character. Penelope and David are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed conversations on varied over a leisurely and delicious breakfast.
the owners go out of their way to make you welcome. A beautiful old place.
lack of room heating. very cold for me.
The location The garden + the wild life Great breakfast The very friendly hosts The rustic charme
Nothing, loved everything
The owners were wonderful, very friendly and inviting. The atmosphere and grounds superb.
The bed was uncomfortable. Only bad thing
An excellent place to get away from it all, Penny and David make you fell so welcome. Highly recommended
We loved the hosts David & Penelope! They made us feel so welcome and provided us with a gift for our honeymoon! The breakfasts were superb and the whole experience was outstanding! It really was a slice of country living only minutes from the city! Would love to stay there again!
Maybe more sink space or benches in the bathroom, but otherwise no dislikes at all!!
Ambiance, David & Penelope
Delightful host, David, provided a special feel to the relaxed time we spent in the renovated wonderful old convict era cottage. The fire lit to warm the accommodation for our arrival and kept going whilst we were out visiting for the evening was particularly appreciated. He provided a very tasty breakfast with his wife's superb home made muesli with accompaniments and an array of cold collations. The art on display was very interesting.
Bathroom felt a bit cold as it was sans direct heat.
Beautiful surroundings, buildings and garden. The whole homestead is picturesque! Breakfast in the gorgeous dining room each morning was lovely.
The only issue we had with this lovely accomodation and in our opinion, the only thing that makes it not first class is that there is no instant heating in any of the rooms. A fire place downstairs is the only heating, which when it is very cold can take quite a while to get warm. Nothing in the bedroom or bathroom. Some electric wall heating in each room would make Cleburne perfect.
Location surrounds of property great setting
staff, room, breakfasts, rustic farm-like atmosphere
proximity to highway - road noise
The room was great- old heritage building with a modern decor The grounds where a pleasure to walk in
Excellent location friendly helpful staff
Historic homestead, art-filled interior, pleasant and charming host (Penelope was away), the grounds and the animals and birds in them. The breakfasts are fabulous. For me, Cleburne was the highlight of our trip to Tasmania. Highly recommended.
The stables rooms may not be for everyone, they do have a cave-like feel to them, with lots of charm nontheless. We received a free upgrade to a superior room in the main homestead after a small issue with the stables room: this room was delightful.
Lovely rustic feel to this heritage listed property. Friendly hosts, clean rooms and a short, easy drive right into the centre of Hobart.
Breakfast was great but is a continental breakfast. No cooked breakfast is offered.
Penelope and David were welcoming people who made our stay very enjoyable and treated us like we were VIP guests. Cleburne had a homely rural feel and the breakfasts were beautifully prepared and yummy. Cleburne would be suitable for all, families or young and old couples looking to get away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you!
Handy location to the city on the north side but very close to the bridge across the Derwent. Excellent breakfast & friendly hosts. Nice rural aspect.
geese, alpacas and Champ, the whole environment of the homestead and the hosts were just very friendly and helpful
Lovely old restored stables
Early morning traffic noise No cooked breakfast
