Breakfast was wonderful in the dining room with all the beautiful art.
Penny and David were very welcoming hosts and the Stable room we stayed in was comfortable, a little quirky and relatively quiet, despite being not far from a main road and near a tree where the resident peacock often perched. Breakfast around the communal dining table was delicious and the company congenial. Interesting conversations and good recommendations for where to eat in Hobart (The Republic Hotel in North Hobart was a treat). Would happily recommend this B & B and will be visiting again.
Could not think of anything we didn't like.
Friendly hosts, loved the old world feel and the breakfast was delicious, homemade muesli, fruit compote, muffins ...
A major road rings this beautiful piece of Tasmania history which is a shame. The lovely garden helps minimise noise
The room was beautifully renovated and the breakfast was wonderful.
The windy Hobart weather spoilt our stay a bit.
Nice people and service. Great breakfast
We were looking for somewhere to simply relax, outside of Hobart but not too far away from shops, etc. (We were at the end of a 3-week driving holiday.) The homestead dates back to the 1800s and is literally surrounded by highways, so the property itself is like a peaceful island of beautiful stone buildings. We stayed in the two-storey cottage and loved it - the space was clean, quiet, comfortable and full of character. We lit the fire, chose some DVDs, opened a bottle of wine and just relaxed. You can wander the grounds and watch the animals, and enjoy the contemporary art within the buildings. Our hosts Penelope and David were friendly and helpful, and our breakfasts in 'the hall' were simply excellent. We love to stay in 'different' places and Cleburne qualified - thanks for a memorable stay! (Loved the art.)
For those of us who like to sit around awhile, WiFi access and a larger TV would have been great! (First World problems - we have no real complaints and would happily visit again.)
the bed is fantastic - very comfortable
the farm sitting
Loved the stable and the location.
A bit noisy
The decorations in the room are simple but unique. The host and hostress are very nice. The breakfast is good and after that we help the host to feed the alpacas in the farm. What a great experience!
From the minute we came to the gate which one has to open, saw the welcoming gaggle of geese and the beautiful old stone buildings we knew Cleburne would be a comfortable place. The helpful advice from the hosts on places to see, where to eat and how to get around added to our enjoyment as did the beautiful breakfast provided in the dining room. We will go back
Old world atmosphere
the room was fantastic, really comfortable and relaxing and it was great how they kept the old style to it, the staff were great, the breakfast fantastic and beautiful location
The hosts were very welcoming & knowlegable .
The rustic & quirkiness of the place. The rooms were lovely clean and cool. Heating was available for the cooler nights. The hosts were friendly and made a lovely breakfast, and were helpful in suggestions of places to see.
There was quite a lot of traffic noise due to being surrounded by main roads. However, our room cut out quite a lot of the noise. Our bed was also a little "lumpy", and the pillows were very flat.
I don't know whether to rave about the room or the lovely owners 1st. Very accomodating & went out of their way to make our trip wonderful. One day we missed breakfast after a late night and they brought it to our room and as if this that wasn't lovely enough they would put the dogs away at breaskfast time since I was terrified of them. We stayed in the stable and it was beautuiful, so much character and charm and there was a beautiful view of the city from our balcony at night. We were really lucky as the other guests were great and we had a chat at breasfast time. All in all it was perfect and I would follow this lovely couple all the way to Queenstown :)
It was freezing, then again that was probably more to do with Tassie than the room. The heater took forever to heat up the room, but all the other lovely stuff more than made up for it.
Large stone-walled room with huge bathroom. Comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly hosts even when I arrived late.
- Fabulous old building thoughtfully and tastefully renovated - Comfortable accommodations - Delicious generous included breakfast - Delightful accommodating hosts in Penelope and David. - Beautiful views of the water and the hills from the porch
Only draw back was a little noise pollution from the roadway that runs alongside the property. With doors closed to the room this has minimal impact.
A homestead just five minutes from the city but with a country or a rural environment - complete with geese, wild rabbits and alpacas . We had the Barn suite which was clean, comfortable and oozed character. Penelope and David are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed conversations on varied over a leisurely and delicious breakfast.
the owners go out of their way to make you welcome. A beautiful old place.
lack of room heating. very cold for me.
The location The garden + the wild life Great breakfast The very friendly hosts The rustic charme
Nothing, loved everything
The owners were wonderful, very friendly and inviting. The atmosphere and grounds superb.
The bed was uncomfortable. Only bad thing
An excellent place to get away from it all, Penny and David make you fell so welcome. Highly recommended
We loved the hosts David & Penelope! They made us feel so welcome and provided us with a gift for our honeymoon! The breakfasts were superb and the whole experience was outstanding! It really was a slice of country living only minutes from the city! Would love to stay there again!
Maybe more sink space or benches in the bathroom, but otherwise no dislikes at all!!
