The facilities are one of the best YHA hostels we have stayed in. The ambience and services are of high standard. The location was great as it hooked up well with whale watch trip.

What's not to like in this haven?

Close to the harbour for going whale watching. It was also only a 10-15 minute walk to woolworths and the botanical garden.

You cannot close the inner door because they have put something in the way of closing it. That left 5cm open all night and except for being cold it was also very noicy. At night from the bar (we were just opposite it) and in the morning by eight ducks that loved to be just outside the room...

A hostel without bunk beds. Toilet shared only with 8 people. Very quiet, good location. You can rent a bike from them and do a tour of Hervey Bay.

free parking, wildlife at your fingertips, compact but safe rooms, clean communal bathrooms, the bistro is a great gathering place, able to book trips ie. Fraser Island etc, ceiling fan

mattresses were very thin and uncomfortable (and I'm a size 8, not a fatty) the food wasn't great in the bistro, it's pretty cheap and basic but it could be better, Wi-Fi didn't work in public area.

The vast and natural spaces around the village with loads of animals roaming around freely. Simple fuss free rooms.

    Better lit corridors at night

Pretty decent meals especially for the low price they charge. Good spot to stay for one night and head to Fraser Island, friendly staff. All in all pretty pleased with the value for money

Mattress was super soft, possibly not the newest one, so had not the best night sleep. And the fridge in our room was old and noisy, but that could be fixed by unplugging it.

The room was very spacious, had beds instead of bunk beds.

There were just one bathroom for 8 people in the room (the shower was not separated from the sink and the toilet)

the pool/spa and bar good atmosphere possibility to park the car the whole day after check-out

a bit noisy at night due to all the birds around as lots of trees even close to the rooms

The place had everything you'd need - bar, restaurant pool table, swimming pool, outdoor seating, kitchen, laundry room. We were staying there as a stop off before a tour to Fraser Island and so needed somewhere to store the car and our stuff after checking out - the hostel couldn't have been kinder and let us keep the car parked there.

We were glad we had a car. You can walk to the harbour and the beach but better views accessible by car. The bar was disappointingly quiet but the staff friendly.

Perfect location, great staff, all you need is there and all you want too!Excellent value for money!

I was sick so i need a hot shower. The temperature of the hot water is really too low, lucky the pool bathroom one was perfect.Except for that great place.

The staff were very helpful in pointing out all the interesting things to see and do in and around Hervey Bay.

The shower in room 205 gets slightly blocked. The water doesn't go very quickly so if you have the shower on high and you're in there for a while, the water just rises until you're ankle deep in water.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meals were amazing.

It would be nice to have complimentary tea or coffee with milk and sugar in the individual rooms.

They have free wifi for guests which is unusual for Australian hostels (as there's usually a charge). The network was newly installed and unfortunately it didn't work from my room or the common kitchen (when it should have) but it did work at reception and the neighbouring bar/eatery. They have a free shuttle from the Hervey Bay Greyhound bus station (which is not walking distance to the hostel).

Godd facilities, eco friendly, and the friendly and helpful staff can book all the local tours for you on the spot.

Not so sure about the converted old motel rooms as dorms - shared en suite sounds great until you have the reality of 6 women all wanting to use the single bathroom/toilet at the same time. I ended up dashing over to the toilets in the other dorm block.
