We like the pub-style accommodation because of the positioning. We liked that the hotel was willing to compensate for a mistake in the booking. This was highly commendable and we applaud them for doing so. We were moved out of our pub style room because of an administrative error. It was admirable that the hotel compensated us and moved us to the boutique accommodation. However, the street was noisy and it was impossible to enjoy using the balcony - which we could do in the pub style accommodation.

Near to the beach. Cheap. Having to walk through 5 bouncers who demand 'respect' in order to get to our room. Manager was apologetic so that was a relief, but the worst way to be welcomed home from a long day is a bouncer having a go at you.

I liked the free continental breakfast, nice surprise The state of the rooms was atrocious. The entire bathroom, including tiles and vanity was painted! There was filth coming out of AC vents and mould all throughout the bathroom ceiling. The bed was also lumpy like it was stuffed with clothing.

Loved the beer garden and the Bistro and liked the service at the main bar, fan bloody tactic No lifts! In the older part, that suxs, blooming heck you also need an all day brekky menu for old farts who don't get up early, but really, that is just us.If you can't put in a lift consider a bell hop... At the very least, you guys let yourself down for top of the wozzer without a lift to the pub rooms fair dinkum !

I like that we go upgraded! And late check out. The view was incredible and we love the pub night life and atmosphere! No security monitoring drunk randoms who followed us up the stairs from the pub, to our room. They continued to knock on our door. This was just annoying, but they went away.

Bed was comfy Arriving back to my hotel on good friday night at 11.30 and being asked by a security guard to show my keycard and asked me aggressively for my room number which I thought as a single woman was very inappropriate and gave me the creeps actually!

We had 1 big bed and 2 small beds so enough space for 2 people. The location is great, we could see Coogee Beach from our room and the street nearby is quiet. We had to walk out of the hotel and go to another building to access our room. Quite expensive

The location and convenience of beach and shops etc The lack of detail. Stayed week and plates/cutlery was not replaced and rubbish bin not emptied in room. No kids channels on TV when other rooms were able to get all channels. Taps in shower would change temp constantly, which I was nit happy about with a 4 year old! Card key did not work several times and I was told by reception she couldn't do anything, I would have to walk to main reception to get them to sort it out!

Central to the locations we needed to be - Availability to local cuisine. Rude staff who seemed to be annoyed to have to answer questions or made comments regarding what we ordered and how it was ordered. The bathroom of our room was grubby. We were not shown or directed to where we could partake of the breakfast we had paid for therefore missing out both days having to purchase locally from bakeries etc. Were told on Saturday evening when returning to the Hotel to retire at around midnight to "F&#k off and go around the front" by the over zealous security staff positioned in the breezeway leading to the accommodation entry. Unacceptable to not have provision for parking although advertise to do so being "They cant police the people parking in there and going across to the beach" We parked outside for the weekend and had to attend to parking on an hourly basis. We checked out and were told "See you again" although would have preferred to be asked how my stay was. We wont be back.

I grew up in Coogee , and twice worked at the Coogee Bay Hotel , for Kath Monroe as a 16 year old picking up glasses in the beer garden , and for Terry Page 4 or 5 years later in what is now the Beach Bar . I loved the fact that Selina's ( the old glass house )'s name , and her statues still stand proud , My 15 year old daughter and I stayed at Chatswood , Wooloomooloo and Coogee , and Coogee got her vote , as did it mine . Special mention to those female staff working each of the bars on Monday evening . I found them very pleasant and chatty , particularly the lady working the Beach Bar . It was a very enjoyable return after so long , thanks CBH ! I couldn't get a couple of beers to take to my room after dinner ( just after 10 pm ), But having said that ... had I got those takeaways , I would have missed out on the the pleasant evening previously described .
