Close to the Yellow Water Cruise
Expensive. The length of the bed is fairly short and I'm only 171 cm and feet reached the bottom.
The pool, the bistro, the very patient receptionists, the playground (we travelled with my son and his family), the value for money, the breakfast. Very pleasant outdoor eating area. The environs are lovely, very relaxing. This was our second trip with family to Cooinda in a couple of months. We live in Darwin but we lived in Jabiru for a long time and have very pleasant memories of Kakadu, especially Cooinda.
I did a bit of reading late at night and did not realize that there was a fluoro light above the desk in my room tucked up under the panel. I found it a bit dark without it but this was my fault. Having to leave!
We booked the standard room. The room is comfortable, the lightening in the room is not very bright. I like to sit outside room and enjoy the fresh air. I managed to do my laundry at the caravan area. Since we were staying there, we did the sunset cruise, and we really loved the beautiful sunset. The dinner is great, but since that is the only restaurant there, it's a long wait.
Located in the heart of Kakadu wetlands area with breath taking scenery and wildlife all in walking distance. Good quality accommodation and not over priced.
Food options are restaurant could be more varied such as having a daily special as menu was a bit limited but was good quality and value for money.
Yellow Waters The resort's swimming pools Boat trips The cabins were quiet, thank god, despite the resort being so busy.
Pathetically badly stocked shop Dark bedroom Shower impossible to regulate the heat of. Awful food - chips with everything an no veg. A piece of meat or fish with chips is not a complete meal. Even the salads were stodgy (extra charge!) Express breakfast a rip-off for $10 (e.g. toast OR cereal. What would it cost you to allow both?) The buffet servery area doesn't work at breakfast time - toaster too slow and badly situated (should be outside) 1.5% surcharge for cards is a further rip-off. In short, the lodge is not good value for money. I would never recommend anyone stay more than one night - I wish I'd spread myself between Jabiru and Cooinda. Anyway, I won't be coming back so your greed has had a lasting effect on me and possibly everyone I'm likely to talk to about it.
Accommodation basic, but comfy beds, and good sized rooms. Private patios amongst lovely gardens, with colourful birdlife. Enjoyed the large resort pool, perfect after a days exploring. Would definitely stay again.
Basic, clean, excellent spot.very nicely set up
The cabins were very clean and comfortable, gardens pleasant and food was fine
Cooinda was a very easy feel type of place that came to most expectations. I did have to tell myself that it is a lodge and not a resort with the few personal discrepancies I had.
We couldn't contact anybody in the 2 nights, 3 days we were there because of no phone reception and no internet. We couldnt watch the footy because the foxtel didnt go to the rooms and we only had 1 very thin blanket to cover us at night. They are only trivial gripes but there they are!! Thanks again!!
Nice green grass and good gardens. Lovely big free-form pool. Friendly and efficient staff.
Dated room was way over-priced - drop the price and they may fill a few more! Not even a stocked bar fridge or nibbles.
A bit dated
Best location for the Yellow Water cruise which was great. Rooms comfortable, large bathroom, but beware the frogs! in the toilet.
Worst meal of barramundi we have had, not cooked, part still frozen, and the most expensive on the limited menu. Bad choice. Cane toads come out at night to the light outside the door!
The location was really great as far as the Yellow Water Billabong Cruise was concerned especially as we did the 6.45am sunrise cruise. Saltwater Crocodiles, Birdlife, and Flora and Fauna were amazing sights.
We were quite dismayed that the Cane Toads are alive and well in Kakadu. After dinner we walked back to our Unit and were confronted by so many Cane Toads. We are afraid the natural wildlife will suffer from these introduced 'Toads'.
Location I enjoyed the kangaroo from the menu and the breakfast after the sunrise trip on Yellow Water cruise.
Nothing being done to manage the cane toads that were everywhere at night. Not a good look for NT tourism. The quality if some meals on the menu was very poor. The chicken schnitzel should be removed. It was not edible!!!! There was more crumbs than meat which tasted awful. The lack of a little salad with meals and having to purchase the salad bar made the cost of meals rather too expensive and less appetising. Surely a litte salad on the plate would not be too much to ask. The room was comfortable but had to walk quite a distance from the car park with our luggage. Parking in the car park was not organised and this contributed to us having further to walk. We were not able to sit outside because if the mozzies. You could provide mozzie coils , even 1-2 per night would have made it more pleasant.
Location was fabulous. Really felt like we were in Kakadu. The room was recently refurbished and just beautiful, the inclusions were great. The best bed by far I have ever slept on! Very quiet room. Comfortable.
The range of clothes especially the bamboo thread men's clothes were very well priced, and quality superb. Cultural centre was excellent,
I think a wider range of breakfast menu should be presented, for 3 days same food, but most of the places we have visited were the same.
The Kakadu experience
Expensive for 3 stars
Quiet room and nice gardens. Enjoyed buffet breakfast and evening meal.
Room was a little dark and dated but was clean and comfortable.
Location, close to departure points for most tours. Although a little dated, rooms were comfortable and very well maintained, with daily servicing.
The receptionist Kristi was very helpful.
The restaurant was closed so we had to eat outside. There was no wildlife information available other than selling you the Yellow Water cruise.
Well maintained facilities.
The room we had was a bit shabby, would need refurbishment.
We liked the proximity to the yellow water cruise and cultural centre.
We didn't like food choices but realise we are restricted by location.
We stayed at both the Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn at Jabiru and this Gagudju Lodge at Cooinda. The Cooinda lodge is more expensive than the one in Jabiru, but has more atmosphere. The room is basic but with a good airco, bed and shower. The restaurant is quite good. You can buy tickets for the Yellow Water cruise at the reception. There is a good store for food and souvenirs.
Our key didn't work, and that made it a long return to the reception in the heat of the day. Overall there's nothing with the Cooinda lodge. The Kakadu NP area is great!
The staff is the highlight, along with the Yellow Water cruise which we did twice
Based on the websight i thought there would be billabong i could go to nearby. There was nothing really to see nearby without a guide.
Comfortable king bed with good laundry. Room was clean and to a good standard. The staff were always pleasant and helpful
Evening meals were disapointing with little choice unless you went very early.
