Great location, safe secure parking and excellent restaurant downstairs.
Beds were quite uncomfortable and the TV screen was smaller than my laptop. Our room was like an oven on arrival. It was a very warm day but no-one had thought to turn on the A/C but managed to leaving the cleaning agents in our room.
ambience, location, friendly staff, quiet,
the reception staff particularly Jason the Thomas Bath Suite. central location not far from train station. l'Occitane products Quite location
not many vegetarian options on menu in bistro.
Ambience, decor and attention to detail.
Pokies hall adjacent to dining room somewhat surprising
Charming decor and building, great location.
Breakfast was basic and the rates were a bit expensive
Excellent effort to retain old world features while meeting modern code. Front rooms have small balconies over a street that is very quiet at night. Excellent shower. Continental breakfast very good.
Room was small, and bathroom smaller....but it was the style of the time and we enjoyed the effort to make everything work.
Location and Decor
Room was so cramped we had twin bed's 1ft separated them ,Bed was so narrow you nearly needed a seat belt so as not to fall out when sleeping. Bath room well appointed EXCEPT for the shower ( Very small)
Spent a night here last weekend. Room was nicely decorated, big enough and comfortable, as was the bathroom. It was towards the rear of the property, with no view (who cares when you are asleep) and very quiet; couldn't even hear the bathroom plumbing from the bedroom (which is more than I can say for just about any modern property). Had a nice dinner and enjoyable wines in the Gallery bistro. Had the included continental breakfast the following morning, with delightful poached (not tinned, like so many places) fruit, and absolutely yummy vanilla yoghurt. Plunger coffee quite adequate. Service was polite and efficient all round, both at check-in/checkout and in the bistro. One suggestion - would like to see some quality "Craigs" memorabilia available from the 'cafe & larder'.
Unfortunately the wi-fi needs an upgrade, too weak, unable to connect. The main bar was too noisy for a quiet drink, better to use the foyer lounge if you want quiet. Pokies, but they are reasonably discretely tucked away, didn't intrude. And one other little gripe, can't find anywhere to provide feedback to the management on the Craig's web site. The room didn't seem like great value for money at the rate we paid, but there seem to be better deals available, ours was a pretty last minute booking.
Location was great. The rooms and facilities were again great
No Cable TV Volume on TV set to low
Beautiful decor and very comfortable beds. Good dining facilities and great cafe.
lovely old building with good ensuite
wi fi not available in room
My daughter and I spent a Saturday night here. A nice welcome and it was fun exploring the old hallways. The renovation and maintenance look great. Dinner and breakfast were tasty in the large dining room. Would suit just about any sort of visitor to Ballarat - and we would stay there again.
Location was fantastic Beautiiful room well serviced
Lift was not available to guests unless accompanied by staff member - not good enough we were on the top floor.
The wait staff were very pleasant and obliging especially the dinner staff.
I booked two superior rooms .The first room was small with no bedhead and nothing like the pictures on the booking site. The second bedroom was lovely and what I expected. I requested a another room and was changed to a room which was to my liking.
Old style, well renovated, warm room, complimentary valet parking, good breakfast
Pokies next to the dining room, but they were discreetly hidden away
Beautifully decorated, comfortable and excellent service. Would definitely stay again.
Lovely restoration of the building and very helpful staff
Heating in the room was marginal at best, and the hot water for showering was non existent on arrival, and erratic and substandard in the morning
This is the hotel we love staying at when in Ballarat. Service is always excellent staff are fantastic and Helpful. Accomodation is comfortable and very clean and tidy. The cleaning staff should be commended.
We had to leave!
Rooms comfortable and beds lovely. Really nice and quiet. Grand old beautiful hotel with lovely atmosphere. Breakfast and breakfast room gorgeous.
Wanted to do the ghost tour but no-one at reception could give me any information on when it was on, where to go - but I found the info (too late to do it) in brochure that reception had on display. Other than that - staff were superb.
location, ambience, breakfast
lift not working, room miles away despite the hotel being not busy
The dining was very good and the ambience was also very good
The bath room was cold
This is a truly delightful place to stay. All staff were very attentive, welcoming and thoughtful.
Old world charm. Historic buildings. Nice restaurant. WiFi included. Excellent service. Parking available (free) in courtyard but only by valet method. Good location in centre of town close to attractions.
Bed was a little too hard for my liking. Standard room a little small. Ancient lift and different levels on same floor involving steps.
The ambience. Quality restoration/furnishing. The location. A real experience to stay there.
The lift, although in keeping with the building, is a clunker and needs upgrading.
Staff were brilliant! Food and atmosphere was fantastic. Beautiful renovation. Cannot wait to stay there again.A truly unforgettable weekend!!
