Ideal place to reach places surrounding Hobart
Close to the things we wanted to see and do for a short trip to Hobart City
It is above a pub and can be a bit noisy on WE but not enough to keep you awake as we where on second floor
Location is excellent if you wish to stay right near the harbour, but many other good value hotels are within walking distance of the harbour anyway.
Room was very small. Impractical sink in bathroom with a faulty plug. Worn carpet on the stairs doesn't give a good impression. Breakfast was OK but surely they can supply a teaspoon rather than wooden stick to mix coffee.
Helpful staff, lovely place. Enjoyed my stay again.
The Queen room was a great size; the location was excellent; the breakfast was an added bonus and the food was very good; the staff were very friendly, couldn't be more helpful; a very enjoyable stay and would definitely stay there again.
There was nothing we didn't like. The rooms are in the process of renovation so this hotel will only get better.
The location was perfect, we hopped off the boat after half a day at Mona and were very glad to simply walk across the road to our hotel. Close to the markets, museum, absolutely everything. The bar is good although we didn't try the food. No problem with noise pollution as it was well insulated and helped that we had a back facing room.
The room is definitely nothing special and quite dated, although the bathroom had just been revamped and was very nice. No lifts to the top floor but the beauty of this old building is worth the non-modern layout.
Breakfast and the service.
Very nice room with very comfortable bed. Good reception.
I had a gastric bypass and so can only eat very small portions. bliss!! Life is wonderful! But no half portions here. Only the starters, which I usually go for, but I really do not like mussels. For me there wasn't choice and because everything was so brilliant from the moment we checked in, the room, the laundry facilities etc. it just hit me so hard that I could not get a half portion of duck curry, I was crying! Poor me. Sarcastic now. But really, not all of us want these huge portions, for big prices. I had a great chat after with the manager about this. All is good. So if you are like me, tell him, and hopefully in the near future they will adjust their policy!
Great staff, great bar & restaurant
very poor looking rooms, above pub, so lots of noise after midnight
Location and dining room.
Design of bathroom with step into bedroom Lack of hanging space and no chair.
This hotel is suitable on Friday and Saturday nights only if you want to party till 2am Based in the late night precinct and with several bars it is noisy in the extreme. This should be pointed out when making a booking. Sunday night we were able to sleep. The breakfasts were excellent.
We enjoyed two excellent breakfasts and dinners here. The food and service were great. The hotel is right accross the road from the ferry terminal and just a few minute's walk from Salamanca and the shopping precinct.
Unfortunately, the accommodation did not measure up to expectations! Everything looked very tired .. Dirty carpet, decaying laminate vanity benchtop and side table. Miserable shower with no interior handle. Exposed stained bed base and only one chair for relaxing. Worn out carpet on the edgeof some of the stairs. It appears that rennovations are underway! Hopefully so!
Excellent location. Hotel old but rooms very comfortable
shower although quite modern, no lip on the floor to stop water spraying across the floor of the bathroom
Excellent location near the waterfront, Salamanca Place and all the tourist attractions. Very good value.
Some noise from the hotel patrons below
Was a very pleasant stay! Would stay there again, position was fantastic!
Location & friendly staff. $$$ excellent value for the price we paid.
Only the location.
Besides location, hated everything; Noisy. Could hear band playing. When asked was told we could be moved for one night but not for second. Was told we would be charged more but than said would leave for same price.Tiny bed. Dirty. Carpet looked as if never cleaned. Don't want to think about stains around bathroom walls. Ugh. Smelly cupboard. Don't have time to list everything that was wrong!
Great views, lovely staff, awesome Breaky included in the price
Having to leave and go back to sleeping in the tent
Excellent location, great breakfast and really helpful staff.
Rooms were clean but very basic, no view and not very nice decor. Great value for money though. I would stay there again.
Large room overlooking waterfront.
We were not told when we booked or when we checked in that it was the busiest day/night of the year when most people finish work early 7 go out drinking.the noise from the bar below our room was unbearable resulting in no sleep as once bar closed the clearing up began. On an ordinary day probably would be ok although still going to get noise from the bar. bathroom in need of refurbishment, shower door didn't have handle on inside so unable to close it sufficiently resulting in water all over floor.
Fantastic location, within walking distance of the Salamanca Markets and most of the sights within the Hobart CBD (including the ferry to MONA, which is right across the street).
This hotel is tired, dated and really worn out. The carpet in the hallways is coming apart, the hallways are a maze of steps going up and down, and the carpet in our room had a massive stain on it that looked like it was older than me. The bed was painful to sleep on and the pillows looked like they hadn't been changed in at least 5 years. The rooms are tiny and cramped. The staff are a bit indifferent. And to top it off, the pub on the ground floor gets quite loud so if you're on the lower floor, you'd better bring ear plugs if you hope to get any sleep.
Fantastic location, close to everything
Room was nice but very noisy at night, probably ask for a room at the rear of the property
