Ambience and fantastic hosts
Old world atmosphere, lush gardens, very comfortable and excellent hosts
Jane and John were fantastic hosts.thanks so much.Steve &Chis King,Brad and Ronda Swinbourn.
Jane and John were welcoming and helpful. We wish them well in their planned travels and in their next posting with the group .
Friendly Hosts, Fantastic Location, Quiet, Relaxing with Open fire in Sitting Room, Superb Outlook onto Gardens from Dining Room, Adequate Variety of Food for Breakfast. Could not Fault.
Well run. Helpful, friendly reception. Loved the sense of history. Walk to harbour/ cruise/cafes. Enjoyed the fire place and the honour system to purchase wine and cheeses. It made the atmosphere very relaxing.
Loved everything really John & Jan were great.
The pillows in the bed were not so comfortable - and an option for a cooked breakfast would be nice - but overall loved the whole experience.
Charming, lovely place to stay.
The Manager couple were very kind, welcoming, respectful, friendly, attentive, helpful, and clearly well experienced and highly professional. The ambience, furnishings and garden were all beautiful, and relaxing. We especially enjoyed the comfortable and warm lounges where guests could relax privately or chat together beside a fire. . The honour system bar worked well too. Our room had plenty of light with several windows looking onto the beautiful autumn garden. Other welcomed bonuses were the heavy curtains for night, plenty of pillows and extra blanket - which were needed.
Our bed did not sag, which was good, but we found the mattress overly hard , which led to two restless nights with sore hips for us both. Each night my partner (in his fifties) got to sleep by taking to the floor with a makeshift 'bed' using two thick window seat cushions and the extra blanket. This worked well for him. My partner was further distressed by the malodour coming from the heating system when 'on' - which meant we were reluctant to use it. I was not distressed by the odd odour but he is more sensitive to bad smells. We wondered if the heater may need servicing or cleaning. Next time, we will enquire about an alternative room with a better mattress.
Friendly staff and good location
Beautiful location gardens and ambience.
It was great. Nothing to mention.
The house was lovely, very comfortable, the couple running it were very helpful, and the breakfast was lovely. The sitting rooms were nice for in the evenings, with fires going, but it did feel odd not having staff there, like you were in someone else house without them! I would be very happy to go again.
the breakfast room was chilly in the morning, they could have done with lighting the fire. And there was a long dark hair in the bed when I pulled back the covers, and a dark mark on the top sheet which wasn't nice!
The staff ,John and Jane, were excellant very friendly and put them Selfs out to help people I would stay at Franklin Manor again.
Towel racks could be a bit longer.
The very friendly and efficient reception staff, Annie the breakfast cook and generally being made to feel most welcome.
Some of the fixtures & fittings are tired and need replacing,
We liked the honesty system at the bar although we didnt use it as we only stayed one night. Loved the open the fireplaces. The continental breakfast was very well done.
The location was central to everything we wanted to do and everywhere we wanted to go. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The manor was really lovely.
prefer cooked breakfast and more insite parking
The Manor house is well located with plenty of character. Lounge rooms with fires going and continental breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The rooms do need a bit of modernising and upgrading and the bed was average.
Just a beautful place!
Jane and John (the management) were amazing hosts; their knowledge of Strahan enabled us to get the most out of our holiday. They made us feel very welcome & always happy to assist. The room was a good size; bed was very comfortable; ensuite & shower was very good with complimentary toiletries. Continental breakfast was excellent. Everything about Franklin Manor was great & would highly recommend staying here when visiting Strahan. Thank you Jane & John for a great three days at Franklin Manor.
The Wi-Fi only worked in the front lounge by reception.
king sized bed was made up of two single beds with variances in the mattresses
Location, friendly, helpful, comfort, great breakfast, gracious house
Pure luxury after camping and trekking in the wilderness. This was an amazing beautifully restored mansion, I felt like a princess with all comforts met and breakfast in beautiful surroundings.
Could not find a single fault.
