you get what you pay.not expensive, but room, beds, bath facilities, everything is old,wi-fi very slow or not working at all
We had booked one of the budget rooms here and were delighted with our accommodation which was spacious and spotlessly clean. We also appreciated the communal kitchenette and the free bbq. The location is ideal and we were only sorry we were not staying longer
Very welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble. Used to bring my young son up from Cape Bridgewater to spend the odd w'end in Grampians & stayed here, decades ago!
+ Clean rooms + Very friendly personnel + Wifi speed quite fast! (for Australian standards at least, and it might depend on your room / distance to the router)
Can be a bit noisy due to traffic
Quiet, helpful staff, room spotless, good location
Driveway a little pokey, Shower head too low
John advised us about the best walks to on and his advice was invaluable for us as we had limited time. Very friendly people.
Shower head was too low in the stall, my partner is over 6' and the water hit the middle of his back.
nice settings. clean. facilities a little aged but acceptable
bed was like a rock with no padding. Had to take panadol to relive the discomfort to sleep
Breakfast- cooked not available
Friendly staff Cleanliness
No pool WIFI reception poor
Kim (she & her husband run the place) was really helpful. She quickly gathered all the tourism info I needed, such as bike hire & near by hiking trails etc. Room was clean & quiet. We could borrow dvds for free to watch in the evening.
All was good. Friendly and helpful owner. very comfy bed. Birdsong in the morning.
Bathroom floor was sticky. I was next to entrance drive, but the level of noise was ok.
Staff was helpful and accommodating.
No wifi signal to the room. I can access internet when I stand near the reception.
Perfect place to tour around the grampians being so close to everything in town and the mountains. I would suggest that you take a car to make things easier given it is the country and things can be a long walk away. Stay in the refurbished rooms which had everything you will need, breakfast was excellent and kitchen/BBQ available for guests.
The location is perfect，Kim is very nice ，lent me a detailed day tour plan which made by herself. Very clean，comfortable。No kitchen facility，we went out enjoying meal in the cafe.
The matress is a bit hard.
Location, value, sense of property being looked after. the chooks are great and Kim & Peter are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.
60's fit out, minimal inclusions
The Gariward staff were really helpful and very friendly. They helped us put together a great whirlwind itinerary for our trip and we had a wonderful time. The walk from the motel to Chatauqua Peak was particularly fun. Good scrambled eggs for brekky too.
Very obliging couple. Excellent Breakfast facilities. Large airy rooms. roomy parking area. Clean Room neat and tidy
We booked a room for 2 adult and a child. The room was freezing even after we switched on the AC/heater in 30 degrees for several hours. The right side of the room was extremely cold due to fresh air from toilet side. So we had to use the bunk beds which are close to the heater unit. What a surprise, we got fined for using the other bunk bed. Worst experience in our 2 weeks holiday in Australia.
the owner, Peter, is incredibly friendly and helpful. We got lots of tips on the Grampians from him, making our short 2-day stay a very enjoyable stay.
Friendly owner offers excellent advice on what to see and do in the area. Good sized clean room, comfy bed. Obviously a well looked after place. Wi-fi worked well at the front of my room, in spite of owners warning that it may not reach that far.
When I originally booked I was only going to stay for one night, then decided two might be better given the amount of things to do in the area. I didn't realise that when I booked the second night I booked a different type of room - I just picked the cheapest that came up. I then received an email from the owner querying my choice which pointed out that it would involve a change of room, which would be an inconvenience to both me and them! I replied pointing out that I hadn't noticed, but when I checked the type of room available on the first night was not available on the second and the one I booked was more expensive. The owner maintained that both types were available for both nights and I felt as though I was not believed. In the end I asked for a third night as the weather on the second day looked bad and in fairness the rate given meant that across the three days I got the same rate as the first night - excellent value. I just feel the query could have been worded in a less interrogative manner - I was actually worried that that the owner might be a bit unfriendly - he turned out to be completely the opposite, but if you had read the email with it's multiple exclamation marks.... . Finally, the room was not attended to at any time during my three day stay - I was asked after the first night if I needed anything, but I had to ask for towels after the second night as the chilly bathroom temp (unheated in the Australian winter - all hotels were the same) meant they had not dried out. Owner was very apologetic, but if the policy is 'no maid service unless you ask' it should be clearly stated at check in. Also be aware that the curtains don't fully obscure the window and at certain positions you can still be seen from outside - as I found out while was drying my hair after a shower. Finally, re the wi-fi - a repeater would extend the it to all rooms at low cost - modern travellers rely on it heavily.
recommend hiking the pinnacle in the shortest shorts
Clean and staff friendly
