The room was spacious and very comfortable. Parking was easy. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful.
There were no negatives.
the locality was good and the building is beautiful.
the decoration was abit bland and not in fitting with era of the property I expected some ephemera and nicer pictures/ paintings etc. The breakfast was abit hit and miss as a vegetarian I was told by the chef I could have Haloumi however I requested Mushrooms and was told she may have used them all the day before ??? could they not have purchased more??? The chef was dressed in an attire that made her look like she was going for a run after her shift and she was the one serving at the table this was inappropriate I think the price of the accommodation was too high for what it was as I have stayed in many places that have been on a par with Gattonside and have paid a lower tarif
Annie's breakfasts! The house and staff were amazing!
Having to leave to come home again!
The home was beautiful and staff lovely, Chrissy was very helpful with planning trips and making us very welcome. I would highly recommend this historical home.
Location. Could walk to Salamanca Place
The ambience of the property and the beautiful roses in the surrounds of the garden created a sense of "this is going to be great" from the outset . The comfort of Gatonside and the service from Christine and her team was impeccable and ensured a wonderful stay.
Location, building & Decor, Breakfast, Friendly helpful Staff.
We liked everything about Gattonside
Very happy with everything. Great location - walked in to town and Salamanca. Great staff, beautiful house, great breakfast.Would stay there again.
Staff, heritage building and decor, convenient to the CBD and access routes
Some minor issue with room maintenance, lamps out in main room light and one missing. Limited breakfast Buffett.
The friendly, personal service. Nothing was a bother. Made to feel welcome and comfortable. Lovely characterful building, close to everything in central Hobart...would definitely stay again!
The house is an elegant grand old girl and the welcome from the people who run the bnb is second to none. The breakfasts were always good.
This beautiful heritage property, comfortable bedroom and terrific breakfast were, in themselves a delight, but the icing on the cake was the fantastic, over-the-top service of Christine, our hostess. She not only located a doctor for us and got us in promptly to be seen, but drove us down there and would have picked us up (we walked - it was actually quite close). She constantly went the extra mile in that fashion to see that we were well looked after!
Must have been a mistake? We never did get the email with the code to use to enter the property. Arriving around 10pm, we fumbled around and made two calls to Red Awnings before getting a callback and finally a code. We suspect they sent the code for a different property on a different day (which we did get) and thought they had sent this one.
Great place to stay in Hobart. Beautiful accommodation.
Fire alarm went off during the night.Everyone had to wait outside until the fire brigade came. Could not contact management. There was no fire. No offer of a free drink or anything for the disruption to our sleep.
Friendly and very helpful staff from the word go! A lovely place to stay in a great location. A very well maintained, manicured and clean property. Breakfast was superb and our cook was just delightful :) I would definitely go back!
I didn't like the bed and I found the pillows to hard and flat. I didn't sleep well at all here.
Friendly staff couldn't do enough to help, obviously love their work. Chrissy was so knowledgeable about all things Tasmanian, Lily insisted on doing our washing so that I could go and visit MONA, much appreciated!
quality home, nice friendly staff
bit of road noise, but were only a few hundred metres from city centre
Quiet and comfortable room but the bathroom is old and in need of an upgrade.
No-one on site to check in or overnight security. Outside lighting very poor at entrance - I went up and down street and kept missing the driveway, also the car park is poorly lit.
Location is excellent, 8 min walk to docks and 4 mins Salamanca place. Staff are incredible, breakfast is served by Annie a real foodie (organic breads, free range eggs, homemade preserves and baked fruits). Room was very spacious. Yes, street noise comes in a little but that didn't stop us getting a good night's sleep. Bed is very comfortable. You feel really well taken care of. Staff were very obliging and suggested day trip itineraries and gave us a shopping bag to buy goodies for our trip from the market. Really nice people!
Having to leave. We stayed two nights, would have been happy with a week.
The ambience and the very helpful staff
The bed was a bit hard!
Gattonside staff were wonderful and attentive to all of our needs. Restoration of the building was quite beautiful. Breakfast was lovely.
The room at the back on the ground floor was quite small and cost the same as all of the others. It probably should have been cheaper.
Beautiful heritage home, excellent staff. Perfect location, healthy & tasty breakfast.
The friendliness of the staff was excellent. The feeling of luxury was great but not over the top. A beautiful place to stay. Breakfast was a nice touch. Well done.
Only a few small negatives. Jug for boiling water was supplied but could not find a power point in the alcove it was stored. Had to take into bathroom. Actual bedroom was quite cramped with no rack or table to put cases (had to open cases on floor).
we are seasoned travellers both in Australia and overseas and it was refreshing to finally stay at a B&B . Gattonside is beautiful. A National Trust house with lovely grounds and so very conveniently situated a few minutes walk from Salamanca and the town . The staff are brilliant, very helpful and so very welcoming. The bed was really comfy so I slept so well Breakfast is just perfect with cereals, toast and something cooked every day , they even brought me in some chilli sauce especially! This is where we will stay on our next visit for sure
the property was well located just 5 minutes from the city centre. the property was immaculate and extremely well maintained. the staff were amazing and could do enough to help us
