Staff seemed preoccupied or sleepy, the beds/pillows were all different and not very comfortable. The light outside your door shine straight in at night, lighting up the room.
Love the location staff so friendly Just loved the tea pot idea I was thrilled the cover over the tea pot cups and tea bags very very classy Shower great pressure New rooms look great
Shower leaked water all over the floor very very dusty room there was a fire in kitchen so I realised they were under strain I do think they need to have a sign to watch your step in 1st floor rooms.Really had trouble with the dusty carpet sorry
good to find a place
price was expected for afl gf weekend
The location was fantastic. The room, although a little old, was very practical and had everything we needed.
My sister and I stayed for her Bday, location absolutely perfect, everything sensational, did not care that there was renovations going on...the section we were in was beautiful clean and new, will rtn again. Had a friend staying in The Crown but we all chose to hang back at our room because it was more homely, thank you to all the wonderful staff. Telling everyone this place ROCKS!!! thanx for having us xx
Couldn't fault it besides some renovations which didn't bother us at all.
bath tub near railway station
renovations in progress
the space of the room, we had the delux! the area of the hotel, the staff always friendly and helpful.
axious for the renovations to finish as there is no where to sit and read or wait for friends.
Central location to most of the city's attractions. Very close proximity to all public transport.
Unfair to make any negative comments as a fire not long ago did not present the hotel in a very glamorous light. If you could put up with plenty of scaffolding and renovations at the entrance, then everything else made for a pleasant stay.
The location and the rooms
Window view was terrible, elevators kept glitching, could hear the people in the rooms around us, the renovations are a big inconvenience and the key didn't work to get back into the building
can't say anything bad, good place to stay
The location. The price.
Everytime I stay the price is different and quite expensive when there is an event on in Melbourne. Still the same room but varies from $70-130! Smoking in the courtyard area is awful and the smell permeates throughout that whole area (asked to move rooms).
Renovations in progress.
Poor English from staff. Instructions were not clear.
Am a frequent client, due mainly to top location + great 'value for money' !!
The bloody noise !! For all 3 nights I couldn't get a reasonable sleep !! It was like a 'war zone' !! Furthermore, there was no voluntary intimation from staff of 'impending gloom' - a total lack of proper communication !! Poor management, so can only improve !!
good location for train, trams, and airport bus
refurbished rooms are simpel, but all you need. Make sure you only have to sleep here, then it's probably worth the money.
refurbished rooms at the back only have windows that look out on what looks like the inside of a prison. That's probably why everyone always keeps their shutters down. Inside, no reception on my phone (optus). When they first sent me to a smelly dark unrefurbished room at the front of the hotel (ironically called 'king deluxe" or something), with 0.5m2 of window, I ran out. Make sure you haven't booked one of those. They really just shouldn't use them until redocartion is done.
A couple of the staff members were friendly and pleasant, making the check-in very easy. Additionally, my partner forgot an item of clothing, and it was retrieved rather easily after we had checked out.
Not only is the hotel itself under construction, but the surrounding area is under construction as well. This meant waking up around 7AM to construction (hammering, loud sounds, etc.) only to be told by a staff member that "maybe it was construction nearby". Not only this, but there was a fire alarm during our stay that lasted about 30 minutes. However, no staff members were directing guests to exit, and no staff members explained what happened after we were told that we could go back inside. A couple notes: Wifi is available for hourly and daily rates. Please keep in mind that it is managed by a third party. I had constant connection problems, only for the staff to tell me that they couldn't do anything and to contact the help line (who did not answer). Additionally, there is only one working elevator, and there are still stairs involved with that.
A bit noisy at night due to guest talking too loud.
Clean and cozy room
Mobile phone reception in the rooms were terrible.
Location Beds very comfy Very clean
Location was great. Nice bathroom. City noise, even though it was at the front of the hotel, was minimal.
The hotel was under extensive renovations at the time of our visit and barely looked like it should be or was open to the public but that is at least understandable. During our stay, every time we laid on the top blanket (which was worn and holey) we got numerous itchy spots on our bodies. There were no visible bugs but it happened throughout our entire several night stay. The room was very stuffy and the central air seemed to have the air conditioning part disabled as we would only get air blown on us periodically at the highest setting.
the location is great and the cost suited us
concrete pillows, tripping hazards and a lack of air flow in the room made it uncomfortable
no windows, but then again it is an inner city hotel
Clean bathroom thank you.
Very noisy aircon and fridge. Turned them both off to get peace. Not impressed with exposed wires from TV. Stubbed my foot big time on the step up into bathroom as I didn't notice the height difference until it was too late.
Proximity to rail and tram network
We were far from impressed by the building work both inside and outside of the hotel. We had written information that this would have been completed by 30th September - two weeks prior to our visit. The fact that only one lift was in operation could have had serious health and safety issues in the event of fire.
