Love the area. Close to the Gardens and the Tan running track. No. 8 tram into the city at the door. South Yarra shops and restaurants a short stroll away. Perfect!
Love the historic character with a modern twist. The white decor really sets off the heritage features. Love the fireplaces and the big airy bathroom. Love the communal front room and breakfast on the sunny verandah. We always stay at the Hatton when in Melbourne and recommend it to our friends. Location is perfect - in a quiet, characterful neighbourhood yet only ten minutes on the tram to the city.
Small hotel Near tram stop Friendly and helpful staff Size of room
Some decor was a little dated
I liked the location and the room was different and hence interesting and the breakfast excellent
The room had stairs to the bathroom, a step into the bath to take a shower and the room was a little tired
The location was perfect for us with family living close by. There is a tram stop directly outside making city access easy. The Continental breakfast was one of the best of its' kind I've had anywhere with good intolerances well catered for. Will definitely be back.
Walls are a little thin.
Lovely building with nice rooms and a warm cosy feel. Breakfast was varied and more than sufficient. Helpful staff. A great place to stay close to the city and near South Yarra. Also close to NGV. All up very good will stay again.
Workmen hammering away at 7.00 am rear of Hotel on a Saturday morning. Fridge was a bit noisy.
Love this hotel. Great big bath, bring a travel candle to make it feel extra special.
If the light is on in the bathroom so is the exhaust fan. Spoils the relaxing feel of the bathroom.
The Hatton is comfortable and inviting. The rooms are warm and clean. The location is excellent for those working in or visiting the city of Melbourne.
The stairs up to some of the bathrooms are a trial. The parking could be better.
Stylish with thoughtful touches. Very convenient Buckets of charm! Lovely breakfast
Shower in the bath a little awkward
A beautiful old house tastefully decorated with great art work. Very spacious and comfortable rooms. Walking distance to the city through the gardens.
Enthusiastic, friendly, helpful staff. Great location and ambience. Good coffee and breakfast. Would stay there again.
The mattress was a bit too hard for comfort but this is very much a personal preference.
We liked the feel of the hotel. Lovely building.
Grand Building, a real step back in time Top Deck Landing
loved the breakfast loved the fire loved the people - other guests and staff loved the room and bath loved the art and gallery info board close to excellent food and shopping
bed not that comfy
the staff (just right) the location the building the room the breakfast
Location quite good in relation to travel to city and to Chapel Street. Within easy walking distance to Botanical Gardens and local restaurants.
The place is quaint but too old and needs some maintenance. It was so windy on the Sunday night and the door rattled, something was banging intermittently outside my bedroom window throughout the night which resulted in broken sleep, and for $195.00 per night? I think I could have done better for that price...
Location, cost, atmosphere
Doors, walls at the back of the building need to be sound proofed from internal noise. Fortunately the neighborhood outside the hotel is upmarket and quiet.
Great location for my needs!
Parking in dark lane way at rear of building
Lovely staff, we were upgraded and the room was beautiful.
Location - it is close to Toorak Rd, The Botanic Gardens, the CBD and it is on the tram line.
The breakfast area is quite cramped and our room suffered from some through ceiling noise from the floor above.
The Building is unique, interesting and stylish. On the roof is a lovely view of Melbourne. The breakfast was fantastic. Public transit stops right in front of the door.
Parking is very limited in the area and can be a problem.
Staff were happy to do anything to make the stay excellent. Breakfast was delicious. Art interesting.
It was our first stay and the room and especially bathroom were too small. Products in bathroom were lovely but some body lotion would have been helpful.
fabulous selection of restaurants and cafes within walking distance
minimal car park facilities
Great service. Fantastic location for tram. Beautiful Botanic Gardens at its doorstep. Comfortable large rooms with wooden floorboards even in the bathrooms. Cosy breakfast lounge cum bar with fireplace to chill anytime of the day or night. Nice rooftop area to hang out, weather permitting, for a drink or even for breakfast.
Wooden floorboards can be a bit noisy although the hotel has laid carpets over at strategic spots to dampen the noise.
location where I wanted to stay
Noisy boards from room above being an old bullding
