Location, ambience, size of hotel
Great atmosphere and location.
That the hotel has sold to private hands and will close for the first time in its history....
Location near Botanical Gardens and good restaurants and cafés. Close to CBD and Toorak, Chapel. Street and Prahan. Reaxed atmosphere, helpful staff Good quality continental breakfast included
Second time I have stayed. Beginning to look a bit tired an frayed at the edges
The position in South Yarra and its on a tram line.
Worth less than half what was paid for this room. Would not return. Very average room at the rear of the property with tiny bathroom. Water temp in the shower varied during each shower. It was like a room in a share house.
rooftop deck Huge breakfast Great neighborhood Wonderful building
the door opens right onto the bed
Conveniently on the tram line so minutes to anywhere but with the quiet sleepiness of the suburbs. The rooms are big and airy and everything is very comfortable. Breakfast is simple but more than adequate and it is minutes to a cafe if a bigger feed is needed. Very gracious and helpful over a double booking issue. So pleasant I would stay with them every visit.
Small issues are stepping up into the bath; a lack of curtains means there is some light in the room at night. Charged a higher room rate (as part of their issue resolution) without telling me (paid by my partner who didnt realise). Would have accepted it, but would have preferred to know.
Perfect for us, across from botanical garden and pleasant :30 min. walk to Federation square. Excellent restaurants within a 5 min. walk.
I keep coming back to this hotel for it's great small-hotel ambiance so close to the CBD. The botanic garden is so close for an early morning jog followed by a delicious continental breakfast at the hotel. Local cafe strip on the corner and a tram stop at the front door. Brilliant!
location and building.
The hotel is situated in an beautiful old building near the botanical garden. So the short walk from the hotel to the city is a frat joy. Our room was spacious, clean and very nice. The choice for breakfast is limited, but good quality.
Very tasteful conversion of an old property. Large rooms furnished, with quality, style and character - mine had a private terrace. Breakfast very good too, with plenty of choice. Easy access to the city by tram. Parking space behind the hotel a bonus.
Nothing at all - this is a quality hotel.
Very clean, nice sheets and towels, nice toiletries, good breakfast and coffee, convenient to the tram.
The room was small and the bed was less than comfortable. The walls are thin - noises such as tv from other rooms were audible and disturbing.
Nice place, great location.
The reception could be more helpfull about things to do in the city and help to book the tours.
All of it
Had to go home
Friendly staff who manned the hotel for 24 hour period. A lovely location by the botanic gardens with a tram stop right outside. A few local cafes and restaurants nearby including an excellent Thai restaurant. Roof top terrace - where you can watch the sun set over the city skyline with a glass of wine. The continental breakfast was excellent.
The room was small but adequate but it was let down by the bed which was very uncomfortable with what appeared to be an old mattress that needed replacing. The pillows were not particularly clean and stained. The bed sheet was directly onto the mattress with no mattress protector and similar for the pillow case. It is an old building which gives it it's charm but overall it could be cleaner (the rug in the room was well worn and stained)
Old building with its history and soul. But it almost doesn't affect the confort - quite large room, big window, comfortable bathroom. Looks very unique. We had a very calm room with a garden view. The street is a rest for europian eye, old part of a the too modern city, calm and beautiful, easy to park a car there
Price too high, no elevator (!), no free wi-fi, poor breakfast.
We chose this hotel for it proximity to the Botanic Gardens where our daughter was being married and having her reception. The tram stops outside, so the CBD is only 15 minutes away. We enjoyed the breakfast and the casual nature of the well stocked bar. After hours access is not a problem.
Parking can be an issue, and there was a bit of a juggle waiting for spaces outside. We didn't use the 4 spaces behind the hotel. We are fit, but if you were disabled, the numerous stairs could be an issue. Be sure to get a ground floor....
I liked the location, Nice & quiet, with a tram stop out the front. Access to the city was only 10minutes by tram that runs often. The continental breakfast included was also a nice touch. Air cond good, Wifi Good, staff friendly & helpful.
The bed was HARD. The room was small, with the bathroom requiring a squeeze to enter & then close the door, though this may have been a problem with just my particular room. The shower was in the bath, which was quite high with a glass partition over part of it, & stepping out of a wet slippery bath, over the high sides, whilst rotating around the glass partition was a bit of a pain...thank goodness I'm not ancient yet! The room had a few cracks in the ceiling & wall, but the building is over 100 years old, so I suppose that can be expected. Don't get me wrong, it was a very enjoyable stay & I would definitely consider staying again next time I'm in Melbourne.
Small boutique hotel in great location ... Not too close to City but within easy walking distance. Friendly staff, great breakfast, would recommend to anyone wanting a nice relaxing stay.
size of property, lots of towels, relaxed atmosphere, great breakfast
bed & pillows to so comfy
position and old world charm
no sky channel or tvn
Friendly helpfull staff
Very helpful staff and great breakfast included.
Immaculate white bedding Down doonas L'Occitane toiletries Great continental breakfast and coffee Quiet up-market suburb location 24 hour night porter fir late arrivals Tram stops outside door Short stroll to beautiful Botanical Gardens
Small in-room refrigerator disturbed sleep until I switched it off for the night - should be in a soundproof cabinet please
We has an awesome weekend at The Hatton over grand final weekend. From the moment we arrived we were looked after and wanted for nothing. We had a lovely early evening drink on Friday afternoon watching the sunset on the terrace upstairs. Breakfast was beautiful and the rooms were so comfortable. We loved our stay and would come back.
