Staff amazing, design of hotel work of Art
Proximity to wharf for attending the Wooden BoatFestival.
Prefer staff not to enter room, when in residence.
The courtesy and efficiency of the staff, especially at the reception, the style of the hotel as a whole, the comfort and the view of the room, the good wi-fi
Depressing dining room Too high price even its very good quality
Staff where very helpful, in particular the Jason the concierge and the young barman on Tuesday 3rd who was very informative.
The shower tiles are SLIPPERY and have a large slope to one side, there is no towel rails in the bathroom and the main light switch the dimmer and another switch did not work.
Room, bathroom, bed, location, staff, adjoining café/bar/shops. Staff always friendly, approachable & helpful.
Paying the bill!! ;)
The design, the art collection, the quirky touches everywhere. Great connection with the retail area
Have seen better cleaning and the front rooms get the noise from the bar immediately in front of the hotel
The lovely historical interior of our room. Having good art everywhere. The music in the bar at night. The location. The view. Everything!
Excellent hotel in terrific position. Reception/concierge staff were absolutely excellent, knowledgeable and helpful. Rooms were good. Bar and cafe food and staff very good.
Breakfast staff were absolutely terrible. The first time we thought it was chance, the second we knew it was not chance, the third time we didn't bother with using any of the staff and would have gone elsewhere except we needed to leave Hobart early.
This is truly a unique hotel, our room had exposed brick walls, old wood beam ceilings and modern bathroom/furnishings. Most unique room we have ever seen. Location and staff perfect.
I can't say there was anything to complain about, is just a little expensive.
Fabulous friendly staff prepared to do that bit extra, wonderful ambiance, quiet, great location, onsite historian with free guided tours.
We had to come home!
great staff...friendly and helpful
room too dark, the rustic walls a bit too much of a good thing!
No permanent drawers in the rooms. No black out blinds.
Lovely room. Had plenty of room in lobby that came in handy to meet with a couple of people.
I arrived after hours, on a weekend. My car was supposedly valet parked. I came out in the morning and found it in the same place I left it, doors unlocked (I am guessing someone clicked the remote looking for it) and with a ticket from Hobart on it. It was not parked in one of the 3-4 hotel spaces but right next to it. I can see someone not being able to find it, but wish they would have called me. My keys were safely with the front desk, just never parked. I did not see the ticket until I was on the road.
Without doubt, the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Outstanding staff, services, meals, room, location, art collection, ...... Everything is outstanding
Other patrons who leave their laundry in the clothes dryer. Perhaps providing a clothes basket in the laundry would assist.
My first impression of the HJAH was its location. A very beautiful location in Hobart The Hotel staff were a delight to interact with. Incredibly enthusiastic & helpful particularly the Bar staff. Our room was luxurious & well equipped. The rebuild to incorporate the old IXL factory has been so tastefully planned. The art throughout the Hotel was a pleasure to view Overall an incredible place to stay in Hobart
New Year's Eve dinner, was excellent, food & wine matched perfectly to finish just before midnight A walk thru reception to wharf to have in uninterrupted view of a terrific fireworks display
Bar and dining room staff excellent
Reception staff were friendly , but not 100% at some enquiries we asked them to make on our behalf
We had a wonderful stay. The staff were fantastic friendly and very helpful with offering info etc of what to do where to go We booked a studio loft room. Very private quiet clean etc. the sofa was s bit small but all clean and well maintained. Had a great stay thanks heaps!
The location, architectural "funkiness" and historical value of this hotel are peerless. The staff are fantastic, and do their utmost to please you.
In the room we had, there was enough hanging space for approximately a dozen hangers, but no drawers whatsoever. So, unless you like living, literally, out of a suitcase, this makes life very annoying/uncomfortable. The staff told us as we checked out that there are 'portable drawers'. How would we have known?
Location is excellent with wonderful ambience.
Nothing to not like.
The staff were excellent and treated us like royalty, the room was great with a great view of the harbour, meal was fantastic in their restaurant with friendly staff.
Loved the history of the building and the proximity to Constitution Dock. Can only imagine what the atmosphere is like there when the yachts arrive from Sydney to Hobart race!
I had experienced a recent accident which meant using crutches. The staff were superb in organising a room which would be more suitable for me (I had booked a loft room prior to my accident). Greatly appreciated.
