Being a local of 42 years I know the Hilton well and chose to stay in the City for New Years celebrations. The room was lovely and I was most impressed we I returned to the room at 1245am and it had been tidyed and towels staightened. I have stayed at many hotels around the country being a Accor member and this was great to see. Thanks & Regards Danielle

View was great, pool was excellent. Hanuman's restaurant in the foyer is brilliant! Not much, but if id have to be picky, hotel guests shouldn't have to pay for parking and the pillows weren't as good as I would like.

We found our stay very comfortable and relaxing. The staff were friendly and polite. The location is great for dining and shopping and also for all the water activities Cairns has to offer. We were a little disappointed we weren't offered local rates. We live in Cairns and stayed at The Hilton to celebrate our 22 nd Anniversary.

Location is the only thing worth 5 star for this hotel. Close to wharf. Poor facilit,dirty carpet, odd washroom design and old fit out. There is almost no room cleaning except changing towels. Room feel dirty. I won't recommend anybody staying there with this high price.

My favourite part is the swimming pool and the spa pool. The swimming pool has a stylish curvy design. It is deep enough in the centre. There are lovely blue lights to illuminate the pool when I swim at night. The spa pool is equally as good. When I call up one night to the front desk and inform the receptionist that the tv does not work, she says she will send someone to come up to have a look at it. The person never shows up. The following night I have a mango and papaya to cut open. I request some cutlery. The receptionist says someone will deliver them to the room. Again the person never shows up.

Even though I stayed there for 6days, they didn't give us the room with nice view and my mum was disappointed about it. If the guests stay longer than other guest, I think it's fare to expect better service.

The most recent stay 9/7/2011 was most enjoyable however we stayed the week before 2/7/2011 and did not enjoy the stay. Our initial room smelt of stale water and we were not particularly happy with the staff response when we requested a room change. We had booked a Dinner /Bed/Breakfast package and we really were unimpressed by he Dining option considering the cost of the package. By contrast we were upgraded on booking in on the second stay.

Staff are well trained in how to engage the customer. The bed,linens and pillows were great......also it was quiet so I slept well. Stayed there 2 nights out of 5 that we were there. We switched hotels for the final 3 days for 1/3 the cost. The only difference btwn the two was that the second hotel ( not the hilton) had terrible pillows. Otherwise we were in the same area; walking distance to everything....had great service at both hotels....so I would say that there was more value at the second hotel we stayed at.

Room design was nice & modern, the rooms were a good size & the spa bath which looks into the bedroom (TV) & Trinity Inlet was a novel idea (we were given a free upgrade). The goose feather pillows & King size bed was very comfy & the breakfast was fantastic. Having to pay $9 a time to use their car park. We parked on the road instead, as it is free Saturday afternoons & all day Sunday.

Staff were very helpful, pleasant and accommodating. I didn't think the room was value for money - we stayed in an executive room (we were offered an upgrade from a deluxe for an extra $27 per night) which was very small - the bathroom in particular was very small and cramped
