Firstly, I am a Melbourne woman who, as an international school teacher, stays at many hotels throughout the world. So I have a good idea of what to expect from an airport hotel at this price. the staff were very Australian - friendly and helpful, understanding and flexible. Room was value for money, could not be faulted. but! This is what I didn't like.The cost of my phone call from the room to ring my home down in Ocean Grove -1 and a half hours from Melbourne was an absolute cheat/ripoff -$65 and I flatly refused to pay it. The desk clerk asked the manager and a compromise of half the cost was reached. they know, as locals, it is exhorbitant and if the hotel is going to do this there should be a big sign on the phone and a leaflet given t customers on booking in. I would have gone to the Victorian governmentombudsman if the manager had refused to change the cost. I hope you can do something to ensure hotel guests are aware of these melbourne airport Holiday Inn phone charges.

Comfort and a good room and very adjacent to the airport Not clear at booking of a credit charge for paying the bill this needs to be clear at the initial stage( I could have payed cash if it was clear.) Bar food good and reasonable for hotels but mini bar expensive especially for water! A charge for shuttle to airport was parsmonious and not good customer care for a hotel of your reputation.

We stayed in Room 818, and there is a loud clunking noise coming from above. Sounded like an air blockage in a water pipe. Very hard to get a good night's sleep.

Very well situated near the airport, they have a shuttle bus free of charge, two big confortable beds in every room and two kinds of pillows soft and hard. The staff was very helpful. Free internet in lobby computer but very expansive wireless conection. Very small, old and ugly bathroom.

The staff were very friendly and happy. It's so nice to see smiling faces!!! The room was adequate and the beds especially were comfortable. Even though it is situated so close to the airport, it was surprisingly quiet in the room.

Convenient location for overnight stay in transit Airport hotels should all have short-stay options, enabling booking in blocks of say 6 hours or even 12 hours. We had 6 hours between flights but had to book a full day.

Lets face it, no one goes to the airport for a holiday, so of course the main bonus of the holiday inn, is its location. Most people are staying there because of flights not connecting or coming too late in the evening to get another flight. I loved the fact the staff were very friendly and engaging, and efficient, and it was hassle free and quiet. I didn't like that fact, that they didn't provide free wi fi...its an expensive place to stay to begin with, and most people staying are mearly there due to flights, and not for leisure. I think having rooms based on solo travellers should be something australian hotels should look into, and to create simple rooms and more affordable accommodation for people like myself who just need to sleep a few hours before catching an early morning flight. Free Wi Fi is available all over the world in hotels, even in budget backpackers, so in general its time Australia started to do the same thing. It was really inconvienient, that I had to pay for wi fi... After spending so much money on a room.

It was for convenience that made a stress free trip to the airport. I live 30 minutes from the airport but because of the road works the motel makes it much easier convenience

The room and friendly staff were great. The Hotel is well located for our purposes. The restaurant meal was below what I would have expected for the price. The serving staff were excellent, but the food was not. I probably would urge my friends to eat across the road at McDonalds. In fact my husband went for a meal there after leaving the restaurant.

“the view from the "office" desk was absolutely superb.The set up of the desk, looking out the winbdow instead of a wall is such a relief for a season business traveller. Even though we stayed there for an early morning return flight to Perth, we were impressed with the facilities, 648 was better than some holiday 4 star resorts we stayed at during our holidays. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous at all times. We booked in early with no problem around 12 noon. We have family in the Essendon area were we normally stay, however if we cannot stay there we will stay with you in the future. My suggestion would be to do a deal with the the sky bus @ $26 return to the city, its a great deal to go into Melbourne for a shop or tour.” Noel, Halls Head |
