The setting was lovely. The buildings were sort of rustic & 'oldish' which added to the place's appeal. Staff were professional, yet friendly & keen to make our stay a pleasant one. Would definitely return.
Only minor issue. Our bathroom, in Room 15, needed more shelf space, perhaps underneath on left hand side. And a plug that can be removed without pliers. (raised a laugh at breakfast)
Great Organic Breakfast The Best Massage I Have Had in YEARS!!! Thanks Jane
The restaurant menu is amazing. All veggies are local and organic which made a huge difference to the taste. I also had a terrible cold and the waitress made me a ginger tea ( off the menu which fresh ginger) and let me take the tea pot to my room so I could enjoy more tea . So kind. Desserts also wonderful and the garderns are so peaceful.
- The eco retreat is set in a beautiful location right in the heart of win country. - The staff were really friendly and helpful
- Really thin walls mean you can hear everything going on around you. - The retreat is down a steep, stony - not a great walk in heals if you cab / bus will only pick-up or drop off from the main road
i loved walking around the garden and sitting outside reading my book.
was a bit disapinted with the shower and bathroom was not as clean as i would have liked also our light did nto work in our room.
Loved the gardens and the quiet
There was no fridge in the room and the breakfast was very pricey
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent
Our bed was not made or the room cleaned on the second day
The staff were great, very helpful & always friendly... The food was amazing, love the fact that the grow there own & source local produce...
We have not one complaint...
Friendly staff, delicious fresh food, beautiful surrounds, we even took some ideas home for our own veggie patch.
Beautiful, peaceful environment with great food in cafe/restaurant. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Stained sheets, linen old and tatty. Hard, high uncomfortable pillow made for a bad sleep. Asked for another pillow but it never arrived. Notice in bathroom indicated that room would be serviced daily. We stayed 2 nights and room was not serviced. WIFI doesn't work in rooms.
Loved the setting very relaxing
Beautiful setting and convenient for visiting the area. We booked for dinner, expecting something worthy but unexciting, and were agreeably surprised by what turned out to be a delicious meal. Highly recommended.
no wifi, small rooms
The peace and quiet
No tv in bedroom
For two friends on a spa & relaxation getaway, Hummingbird was perfect. We loved everything: The natural beauty of the gardens, vege patch, chooks and woods surrounding. The picture perfect window seat from which to take it all in, we also did some art and craftwork and listened to music (Yamaha mp3 player loaded with songs and dock provided). The simple, earthy yet sophisticated style of the room, and perfect bed (so comfortable that my friend wants to find out the brand and model to replace her bed at home!) complete with clean, high quality cotton sheets and warm quilt+blankets. Wall heater and reverse cycle air conditioner kept the room comfortable in the erratic weather of early spring. The staff were outstanding in their hospitality and genuine friendliness: we were the only two people staying midweek, so one of the female staff members Jane stayed over and even offered to cook us breakfast even though their kitchen is closed during the week! We had a scrumptious big brekkie with a lovely green smoothie, though my friend struggled with the standard of the coffee. Other facilities included a spacious yoga room and sizeable yet cosy family/chill out attic with a fireplace, Martin guitar, comfy couches, games, TV and small selection of movies. Hummingbird is the perfect place for a small group or couple to get away and soak in the surrounds, and although I have written this glowing review part of me wants to keep it a secret so that it stays as precious and quiet as it is! :)
Not much to comment on here, if I had to write something it would be that the room could be a little drafty near the windows, but that hardly bothered us. Hummingbird really is excellent on all counts.
Great location. Rooms look great. Gardens are very nice. Staff were friendly. Cafe on site.
Terrible wifi (was not accessible in room). No TV in room. Room walls are thin - we were woken up each morning by activities outside. Limited parking.
The feeling of peace and relaxation was present from the first moment. We were given an upgrade to a lovely tranquil king size room. Jane was sweet and she has marvellous hands for massage. The walks are great. The organic garden appeals to us. We'll definitely be back soon.
Fabulous location and setting with a love swing in the garden..
Breakfast in the restaurant was a bit of a shambles mainly due to inadequate staff being on the floor serving and taking orders. There was one person doing everything and the place was crowded. The coffee was not good....more like hot milk with a hint of coffee flavour. The meals, when ready, were not delivered quickly therefore toast was stone cold....Other than that, all was good and the food itself was delicious. I would come back...
There was a property attached to the resort where you could walk and see some wildlife which was nice but everything else was fairly average!
We decided to have breakfast at the resort. It was ridiculously overpriced - we had 2 big breakfasts which I would classify as a normal breakfast as there wasn't anything particularly big about it and a juice each which cost us $64!!! That's definitely the first time I've paid that much money for any breakfast, let alone an average one!!!
The dinner and breakfast were amazing. Locally grown changing dinner menu.
The beautiful grounds and the homey dinning area with its big fireplace. The common lounge is comfortable although there are rooms on its ground floor and they are noisy.
You can hear next door's guest opening the shower door! Yes, no insulation. Basic rooms (the pictures shown are deceiving). The menu was mediocre and not very enticing (salmon and chicken as non-veg mains), pricey and the Swiss waiters was bordering rude. An over 12hr power cut made our room a fridge (no hot water either) and we left before it was solved (we were not even offered a hot drink to thaw).
Staff we're very welcoming and friendly, while also informal. Great setting and a very comfy bed!
Electricity can be unreliable
the peaceful surrondings, bush views and walks. being central to what we doing for the stay in the area.
being in the room next to the kitchen as the sound wakes you in the morning. also the menu never varied over the two nights we where there.
The rain nothing like the sound of rain on a tin roof
Amazing location Great atmosphere Really friendly staff Photography opportunities Delicious healthy, mostly organic food
Room was cold, needed to keep heater on
