Score from 531 reviews Very good
friendly , available food , helpful close to every thing relax full, .
some people are just dirty and don't clean up after them selves , urine on the floor , noise across the road , some people leave lights on ,not much consideration for other people in rooms
In great location and friendly staff
People find it funny to go a bed at silly hours and wake people by turn light and loud. If someone snoring get some ear plugs and if person is top bunk don't punch underneath bed it only make it worse
The bedroom floor was very dirty, the other places not problem.
location is near southerncross station .that is very convient,
the place was nice & close to Southern Cross Station an easy walk. I was glad there was a computer as I don't have a internet enabled device. Supplied towel and linen was clean & fresh
The print out of the booking confirmation was in really small print & was hard to read poor light. The front of the building could use improved signage & a lick of paint, to freshen up. The broken double bed bunk frame(metal) was taped together with duct tape so slept on single bed.
good location, good staff. free breakfast, free wifi.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. They will also keep valuables in a safe behind the reception for no extra cost. I think the hostel is very good value for money, being in an excellent location and with breakfast included, especially at the cheaper winter rate. I've stayed at this hostel four times before - on weekends - each time had a good experience.
Noise from a nightclub, which continued till beyond 6am on Saturday night! Though, I've stayed at the hostel before, and the music ceased around 2-3am.
Staff attitude is very good, and the hotel's location is also very convenient.
My wife and I live six-bed room, a guy wearing underwear to bed, and slept one night, changing the bed linen was found inside the musty, very dirty !
The sleeping environment. It was too noisy during the night. I was awake more than 5 times at one night. It only has WIFIin the lobby, not in the dorm.
The location right near Southern Cross Station meant that I could get to the airport for a morning train:
Fairly noisy, but I was there on a Saturday night so it might be quieter on other nights:
The 4 dormitory room was comfortable. Had clean sheets. The toilet was clean. I was there for a night & couldn't get better value for accomodation in the heart of the city.
The music in the lobby was too loud, music is good but the volume should be controlled.
We can cook our food with the good facilities given there and the staff are friendly, cheerful and helpful too.
Room is cold no heater complaint but only give extra blanket which of no help at all. I like to stay there but not during winter.
bathroom was very dirty.
bathroom was dirty and lots of trash under my bed.
It's perfect location. Really close to Southern Cross station (connection to both airports), and to city center. People working there are friendly and helpful. Clean.
Showers require little maintenance (1st floor). It was pretty tricky to make water running.
room had not been cleaned by our checkin time & the cleader just walked in, not even knocking
I like the location. Very good, near Southern Cross railway station and the inner city of melbourne. After 11 it is also quite in the rooms, which makes sleeping easier.
Too many persons in a room! And not much space. That makes some of the cleaniness and comfort go down. Also the bathrooms, when someone next to you washes, you also get wet.Their price is cheap though, so that balances it.
This place was exactly what I needed and wanted. The location was really fantastic, a couple of minutes walk from the Southern Cross Station, surrounded by cafes and little restaurants. The staff were very friendly. I kept sleeping past free breakfast, and I wasn't there for the free pasta night, but those options sounded very nice. I had a double private room on the 4th floor and was very happy. Actually, I found the bed and blankets very comfy, and even though I didn't need it, there was a lot of space in the closet for belongings, and adequate bench space as well. I also appreciated being able to leave my bags in storage after check out. When I return to Melbourne, I will definitely return to stay here.
I like the location of the backpacker, the room is big enough. The bathroom is big enough and convinent.
On Saturday night, the enviroment is quite annoying.
The location of the hostel is great, it's just 5 min from Southern Cross and within CBD you can do everything by walking. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the bathrooms are clean.
Our room was not very clean and the wifi just works in the reception area.
Very close to everything. Was fairly clean.
'Private' three bedroom room was not private, it just had a divider separating it from a dorm room.
Easy to check in and out
The staff had my Room double booked so when I was in bed twice people unlocked my door.. Wasn't very happy
